Ah Daisy!!! Complete girly nub. No doubt.
Cute baby sweetdream!!!
Such a cute scan Daisy! Baby looks like he or she might end up a thumb sucker :-) Our daughter always had her hands near her mouth in ultrasound pics and she's definitely a thumb sucker!
Maybe a dumb question, but what it is about her nub shot that makes it look girly? Is there a thread on here somewhere that talks to the nub shots and what to look for? Is that the "hamburger"? I thought that could only be seen from a different angle, but maybe I'm just confused, lol. Need to learn what to look for!
Crazycat - I was feeling really rough this week but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the seabands! They are really working for me so far (and I have worn them for all three pregnancies now). With the first two, I was only just a bit nauseous but with this one it is worse! Have you tried them? I also have ginger soda (I though it was ale when I bought it), and now some really strong ginger candy. So far I have had moments of queasiness but have not gotten sick. I have not taken any Zofran today either!
Daisy - Great Scan!! I was thinking the nub looked girly too but I am far from an expert!
Crazycat, we're looking at the genital tuber (referred to as "the nub") and comparing its angle to the spine. Greater than a 15 degree angle generally indicates a boy, parallel indicates girl, and inbetween is a toss-up. There are other factors, too. Judging the nub before 12 weeks is completely inaccurate, and 13 weeks is best. If the baby is particularly arched, curled, or upside down, the nub guess is invalid. Ultrasound techs and studies give nub guesses after 13 weeks over 90% for gender accuracy. Still, there's that 10%, but it's generally a good indication of where things are headed :)
Potty shots looking for a "turtle" or a "hamburger" come later. I know a lot of women get gender ultrasounds between 15 and 17 weeks, but I personally wouldn't trust one until 18 weeks. A potty shot after 18 weeks (until after 22 weeks) is nearly 100% accurate. Later ultrasounds can be less accurate because girl parts can swell, and boy parts can get squished and "hidden."
I was obsessed with gender ultrasounds for a while. I wanted to see if there was ANY way DS2's 18 week classic turtle could be wrong. There wasn't, LOL!
Yay for two great scans! So glad baby looks good sweetdream!
And I see a girl nub Daisy. I've been guessing for quite sometime and even tend to be cautious if I see any potential angle. It looks girly to me!!
Daisy that looks girly to me too and looks like it forks a bit.
Sweetdream - glad to hear you had a great scan, too!
