Ttc the csection rate may by higher in your area if that's what they're doing but the average for the US is 24%. Doctors won't even mention it here until you're nearing your 40th week, discomfort isn't enough for them to do it. I would have loved an induction at 39 weeks with my last because of the sciatica and falling all the time (even fell down the steps 4 times) because of it but it wasn't enough for my doctor. He was even reluctant to do it at 40w5d because he said they don't like to do it before 41 weeks but my 41 weeks was on a weekend and I started crying because nothing relieved the pain in my back in front of him.

Lmsm - How exciting DH felt her! I've been waiting for my girls to be able to feel her too but she kicks when they are sleeping or not around. I think I might let them stay up just a bit this weekend so maybe they can catch it.

dont want to start a debate here im just asking out of curiosity.. is everyone in this group planning to breastfeed? ive only seen posts about breastfeeding and none about bottle feeding.

not asking to be judgemental as i honestly couldn't care less how anyone feeds their baby as long as baby gets fed and mum and baby are both happy :) im just wondering if im going to be the only one bottle feeding/switching to bottles very soon after birth?

I'll be breastfeeding my little man for the 1st year and then weaning him to cows milk. Praying all goes well as I was lucky enough to have no issues with my DD's.

Nothing wrong with bottles!! Breastfeeding is a personal choice and honestly very demanding, with so many restrictions on mom. It's much more important to be happy and healthy and enjoy your newborn. Breastfeeding is not a magic pill that will make babies superior to bottle fed babies. You shouldn't feel judged or looked down on for your own personal choice. [emoji173][emoji173]

I always say, “Fed is best”. As long as baby is fed, happy, and healthy, nothing else should matter!

4blue2pink i will be bottle feeding and pumping for atleast the first 6 months as i go back to a crazy work routine only after 3 to 4 weeks. This is my first baby with this new job so if i feel pumping is too demanding i will just go to formula.

Ttc blue i tried to get an elective induction here in USA for work related and non medical concerns and i was told if all is well with my bishops score only then i "can" get it at that too at 39 weeks at bare minimum.

I exclusively bottle feed and will with this one too. I’ve had some non cancerous breast lumps removed in the past, and those procedures make me super sensitive. I don’t pump at all and only use formula.

Yes, it's my understanding that that's how it is everywhere (and how it's supposed to be here). I know that sounds odd that they give in and do inductions early, but they literally do all the time. Idon't think they even put up much of a debate. I have always thought it was odd, and very unprofessional.
I never noticed it until my first pregnancy. I was only about 8 months along and all my friends and family was saying "If she's not out by 39 weeks, tell them you want to be induced" and I was totally against that because I (as you can see lol) fear anything but a natural birth. But then I watched as everybody around me did just that throughout the years.
James' cousin was quite big and in a lot of discomfort. She went to the ER a total of like 5 times during her 35th week of pregnancy complaining and they couldn't find anything wrong. Then she said she just knew that something was wrong, and demanded to be induced or she would sue. They brought her a consent form to sign and induced her the same day, the day she turned 36 weeks. Hers was in fact unsuccessful and she had an emergency c-section that evening.
Another friend of mine was induced the day she turned 39 weeks (no medical reason, she just asked to be). They started it Friday and tried all weekend long. They ended up taking her daughter by c-section Monday evening after her oxygen levels significantly dropped.

4blue2pink - I bottle fed my first 2 but since this is my last I'd like to try breastfeeding. My ex husband didn't approve of it and was a huge a-hole so I did what he wanted after being unsuccessful trying to pump for my oldest for almost 8 weeks. My milk just wouldn't come in with the pump. If I end up having to go back to work full time I would just bottle feed. But you should see the looks I've been getting about saying I'd like to try breastfeeding, you'd think I just told them I'm getting her tattooed in the hospital. It's still an odd thing to do around here I guess. But I agree with Xx - Fed is best.

I'll be breastfeeding. It is demanding but I enjoy it. I have nothing wrong with bottle feeding I have a friend who recently got a nb foster baby and I babysat for a week it was like a different world bottle feeding him. So easy and relaxed and my boys could help. But as a stay at home mom who has nursed for nearly 2 years with two babies with no issue I just can't justify the savings.
