I didn't either, but I had bought some to use on my hair and came across several other uses online for it! I use it for his skin now too in place of lotion, and it works great!! He was getting bad rashes at my moms due to her water, but I couldn't figure out what exactly was wrong. He would blister and everything, but the coconut oil cleared it pretty quick.Quote:

I cloth diapered w both kids but quit after a few months with Ds2. We have really soft water and it always takes forever to rinse all the soap out. I got tired of changing up washing routines to figure it out
Bimby - I was just thinking that's a hefty price for just renting a doppler. You could buy a pretty nice one Instead of renting and then just sell it when done
We have cloth diapered exclusively since my first son was 9 months old (he is just over 3 now). K was in them from his very first diaper. And we quite like it. It took me about 6 months to work out the kinks though (between detergent, water hardness, fabrics against the skin, brands we liked)...but since then it has been so smooth that I hate having to use disposables (true story!) Our stash is now saving us money, although I admit I didn't really do it primarily for the money saving reasons. If I had, I would have a much smaller, more practical stash. As it stands, my stash is really large and has tons of prints/fun styles. It is also the most ******lined and contains primarily AIOS (all-in-ones). I have a fair amount of Elementals, which are BumGenius brand as well. I just cringe when I see how many disposables we used during the week we were in Florida with my in-laws (too much to take on a plane, otherwise I would have brought cloth). It was two giant trash bags worth. And about 80 diapers!! And I am not some environmental nut, I just don't like all that waste. So cloth is something that works for us. :)

On another note, I have finally started feeling my little guy move...I am 20 weeks today....yay for half-way there! For the last few nights, I have been able to feel him a little here and there, but still nothing really as I go through my day. I will be so relieved to feel him throughout the day.....funny how I can't wait to get kicked so hard. :)

To add to the nappies debate - I've always used disposable nappies, I considered cloth ones for environmental reasons but then I read several reports that said it had pretty much been proven that with the extra use of the washing machine, chemicals used to wash them etc etc that the environmental impact was pretty much the same.
Nappies funnily enough aren't something that are massively expensive over here either (unlike other things) although I imagine you do save a lot using cloth nappies, especially when using them for several los. xx
This thread moves so fast... I love it, but I seriously had to read what felt like 5 pages to keep up here. Every time I would read yesterday something would happen and I'd have to start all over.
Love the talk on cloth... I got my feet wet with ds3 and did cloth briefly just before potty training. I'd love to do it again, but my question is, will it save $$$ in the long run if this is my last baby?
About going to the party with a house full of people that just recovered from being sick... I'd definitely stay home this year. Wouldn't want to risk my whole family getting sick, especially me being pregnant.

Oh myyyyy! 4pm now... left work and about to go get my son from his childminder's house then I'll be heading by train to the city my scan is in. Ahhhhh! For those keeping track, I've got 3 1/2 hours to scan time. I have a headache and feel like a ball of nerves! About both the scan and my big flight tomorrow! Feel sick!
Two of my male coworkers said they officially guess a boy for me because I seem like a 'two son mum' (by the way, I am American so I go by mom!!) I hope to prove them wrong, but we'll see. Uggggh... soooo nervous!
