I am worthless at guessing even my own! I don't know why I thought I could guess hers. I thought boy at the very beginning and then switched to girl. (Which is what I did with my own- thought girl then switched to boy and was wrong!)
It seems fitting somehow. I am so excited for them! Dying to know the details of her labor. I'll ask her the next time we have tea!

So ladies, I have a question, I know I should remember this stuff, this being pregnancy number 5 and all. I just can't for the life of me remember if this is something that happened with the others or not. I am 21 weeks, I have been feeling baby move for weeks now, most of the time big movements. Yesterday, last night, and today I have felt very little to no movement. What I do feel is slight movements. Is this something normal or should I worry (I am already worried). Last night I was up almost all night hoping to feel her move some, but seriously, I never felt her move. I did feel some small movements this morning but that has been it.... Help please.
-
Zem, they have quiet days. With my others I've noticed a pattern. One of them was 2 days active then 1 day slow. I haven't noticed a pattern with this one but she for sure has quieter days. She is sooooo active this morning. If your worried...go in. It takes twenty minutes for them to do a trace on baby an it's completely worth it. Always trust your instincts!!!
-
Have you tried having some ice water Zem, she might have just moved into a spot where is tricky to feel her. Thinking of you.
-
So yesterday I talked to my Dr. we decided to wait her out and see if she was just facing my back or something. FINALLY she started moving about an hour ago. It has been a long 2 days and nights....On a happy note, excited to go see family this weekend, we are doing our firework then, since we haven't been around anyone for so long. Finally going to be able to reveal that this baby is a girl also, so excited lol.
-
So glad all is ok Zem. Enjoy the time with your family.
-
-
Sorry, girls I haven't been on much this week! Missed you all!
Zem so glad she started to kick again. I hope you are nejoying your family time!
Mommymachine, I was glad to read your post. Mine will go almost 24 hours of full on kicking, then nothing. I don't remember this with my first. One night I just got up and read a book because I literally couldn't go back to sleep with all the kicking. Then she went silent and for another whole 24 hours I couldn't feel anything. It made me nervous too, but then I felt so little kicks.
This might be terrible advice, I heard this long before I was even married! I remember my coworkers wife was worried and her doc told her (again this was like 10 years ago!) to drink a half of a coke or something with caffeine and then lay down on your side and be really still. Not sure they would tell a woman to drink caffeine now, but I always remembered that.
xoxo
-
That's right! But drinking a cold glass of water or orange juice works well too.
And your left side.
-
My bub kicks all the time, I don't think I had to worry about not feeling it with the anterior placenta. I'm wondering if she's had down and posterior. Both my boys were very early. Hopefully I can convince her to rotate before birth.
-
Do you know why they say the left side mommymachine? My placenta is on the left so I find the right more comfortable.
-
Yes, why do they say left side? I don't find one side more comfortable than the other. Usually I just have to switch bc one side is "falling asleep" with blood flow.
-
It is because a major blood vessel runs down, if you lay on that side it gives you optimum oxygenation for the body and baby. That is way they say if you are feeling dizzy while pregnant to drink a glass of water and get on the left side.
-
Although, it is still perfectly safe to be on the right side also. My dr. told me to listen to my body, if I feel more comfortable on one side, go with it. We even found that to be the case for when we deliver. My last baby, during delivery, did NOT like when I was on the left side. His HB would slow way down, he only liked the right side. ~~We told my family this weekend we were having a girl, they are soo excited! lol My mom already went out and got some girl cloths!

Just dropping in to ask if everyone that swayed GIRL and knows what they are having, can please update/post their sway in the stats spreadsheet via the form?

I didn't know why just was always what i heard. But I just found this:
Sleeping Positions During Pregnancy | APA on Sleeping Positions
-
Ok so I posted this as a question, in the parenting group, but I thought I would also ask you ladies. Ok so I have had 4 children, with each of them I have tried to BF but never made it past a month with any of them. I am currently pregnant with baby 5 and truly want to try to BF for the first year. My big problem with the others was, I just didn't enjoy it. I hear a lot of people talking about how they like the bonding time and how special it is. But I just never got this feeling, I felt the same using breast or bottle. I loved my babies, loved being with them, holding them, feeding them, and playing with them. I just never enjoyed this....Is there something wrong with me, for not liking it? What can I do to make it better. Sorry this is such an odd question, I just want some support. Also no one in my family breast fed more then a month either, so they are not much help....
-
Zem, I think the key is to stick with it for more than a month. Breastfeeding is hard especially to start with and you need to do it for 6-12 weeks before you really settle into it. That was the case for me anyway. I found it so much easier than fussing with bottles though. Breastfeeding is great because it's always there ready no matter where you are. Do you have any foundations in the states that can offer support. The Australian breastfeeding association is always ready to answer questions, and if you ask the right people you can get the help of fantastic lactation consultants.
-
I've been gone for a couple weeks now with family vacation. But I'm back now and hope to contribute more.
Zem- I think bythe****** is right. The first 6-12 weeks are hard- sore nipples, trying to figure out latching on, etc. It also depends on the baby. My first never latched well, had a hard time nursing, etc. He was also severely allergic to milk proteins, which transferred from what I ate and drank into the breast milk. After 3 1/2 months we called it quits and switched to formula and it was the best decision for us. My second latched on right after birth and nursed like a champ for 22 months. I'm hoping for another good nurser again.
Whether you breastfeed or bottlefeed, you're a great mom and you're doing the best for your baby. If you want to breastfeed, give it a good try, hang in there awhile, research tips and techniques and find support. And if it doesn't work out, you'll know that you've given it your best.

My boys and I went shopping today for a gift for a baby shower.
While shopping, my boys found some onesies that they begged me to buy. I couldn't resist. It's my first purchase (aside from a generic sling) for my baby girl.

Have ya'll started making purchases?
-
Oh very cute, yes I've bought a few things. Got carried away to start with then have been trying to control myself since then, lol. But I did buy this for bub to wear at my sisters wedding one month after due date
Girls' Sunray Pleated Dress - White - Target Australia
-
bythe******- that is beautiful!!! We're looking for a dress similar to that for a religious ceremony when our daughter will be almost a month old.
So beautiful! Love it!
-
Personally we haven't gotten anything, but my family and a few friends have been going crazy! lol I don't even think I am going to have to buy any girl cloths for a while (which is totally fine with me)! So we got all of our kids back to school shopping done today. can not believe that they will be starting back up in 2 weeks.
-
Wow, lots of people are buying so many cute things for their little ones. :)
For those who swayed pink and got blue...I must say that while browsing baby things I am seeing so many super cute gender neutral baby clothes these days in the stores. Wish they would have had them when I was dealing with GD for DS. Ah well.
I did buy a few more things for DD and every time I do I make sure I get something for DS too to make sure I don't favor one over the other.
I've been looking for a "big brother" shirt for DS who is 18 months but can't find any in the stores. They all say "little brother" in his size. :(
-
I am having huge problems with people giving me cloths, that wont be in season.....I love that they are thinking of our baby, but she will never be able to have on a summer outfit in November.... Do I say something to these people, or just except them and say thank you??? So far I have just been saying how grateful I am and thank them.
-
Beautiful purchases ladies! I have something coming from Etsy - Your place to buy and sell all things handmade, vintage, and supplies. Babygirl4me you would get a big brother shirt in his size from there, that's where I got DD big sister shirt (who is 19 months today). I don't need to buy too much since DD was born in January and this one is end of November. But will need to buy her a Christmas dress. It's going to be a scramble to get Christmas pictures done this year. Going to have to get them when DD2 is only a week old or so!
-
Sorry ive been missing for a while, ive been very busy with my boys and am generally exhausted! SO cute your purchases girls. I too have been a little crazy but have now slowed down and dont even go looking when im out...ive had to move onto the big items as we didnt keep anything from our boys, so had to buy a new pram/cot etc...hope everyone is doing well and i dont know about the rest of you but i can not wait for the next few months to be over and i can have my body back because this pregnancy is the most uncomfortable one ive had :)
-
I have not bought anything! My sister sent me some pink and I am at home in Texas and my mom mother bought some things for me too. I still am not wrapping my head around it!! :)
All the stuff above is darling! I need to get on it. I did try the other day, but everything was so summery and the sale summer stuff seemed so far away... I like sale stuff. ha
I am getting uncomfortable too. Sleeping is getting hard. I don't remember it starting this early last time.
-
So for those of you who have gotten heart burn, I can now relate. Please don't get mad, but I got it for the first time ever last night. Man the name is true, it burns! lol Had to even ask my DH to make sure that is what I was feeling...
-
Oops just bought more. For those Aussie girls bonds has 40% of when you buy 4 items. I can't resist bonds so I bought something each for the boys and then a couple of things for bub.
Oh poor you Zem heartburn sucks. Have you got something you can take? Here there are a few brands you can get from the supermarket that are fine while you're pregnant. Tums or Rennie are good if you have either of those there. I haven't had much heartburn just reflux which isn't nice either.
-
Anyone else had bub reach their ribs yet. She was gently rubbing my ribs the other night. I'm hoping she's not as bad as ds2 he was brutal with my ribs, he used to jam his foot up in the skin above the ribs, hurt so much. I used to have to grab his foot and push it back down.
-
yeah we have tums here, haven't heard of the other though. I tried them out, but didn't seem to make much of a difference. I have felt her move almost everywhere! They were saying that she was about a week bigger last US, I know that they can be off. She does get the hiccups all the time though, I think I have been feeling her have them since around 21 weeks, but didn't realize that was what she was having till about 5 days ago...lol She gets them like 10 times a day, usually lasting 20 min....lol Poor girl.
-
Cute, I was wondering if it's been hiccups that I've felt recently but I was wondering if it's too early and they don't seem to last very long.
-
zem- I had heartburn with my first, then got full-blown acid reflux with my second which lasted SIX years until I went to acupuncture to cure it. But it came back with a fury in this pregnancy. Having said that, I have a few tips I can give you...
-soda/pop/coke/whatever you call it in your region will make it much worse. I avoid it like the plague.
-chocolate can aggravate it, but I love chocolate too much and it's my sanity during the summer with kids home, so I just try not to be too naughty with it.
-spicy foods will also aggravate it, which really stinks because I would love some good guacamole or pico de gallo with my tacos. I settle for plain avocado instead (and hey- I'm getting good nutrition and good fats with it).
-Dr Andrew Weil (natural medicine doc) says that pistachios are good for the GI tract. I don't think that they really helped with my acid, but I sure enjoy eating them anyway.
-APPLES, APPLES, APPLES!!! I learned a couple years ago that apples will help help with heartburn and acid reflux and it is true. I eat at least one apple a day as a preventative measure. And if I'm feeling symptoms, I eat another one and it almost always helps.
-Prevacid. My acid reflux is so bad that even with all the tricks, I still need to take Prevacid daily. I take it in the morning 30 minutes before eating (it's important to give it that 30 minutes to do it's prep work, but also don't wait longer to eat).
I hope these tips help you.
-
Squamgirl thanks so much for the advice on heartburn. Mine's been horrible! I feel like a fire breathing dragon. I've been taking the max dose of tums for a while now. I got some tips to try from the midwives including smaller meals and not drinking while eating. I'll have to let go of chocolate and soda. But, starting tomorrow. I want it today, lol. I'll have to try pistachios and apples too. Yum yum!
I remember how much I hated the pain in my ribcage once my DS got bigger. Ugh, I am not looking forward to that at all. :(
-
There's. max dose?!? Oh no, I've been popping them like candy. Plus, I'm allergic to apples:(
24 weeks today!! Officially at viability:)
-
Squamgirl? 6 years?? Bless you, sister! That sounds miserable. Thanks for the tips! I didn't know about apples!
-
Yes there is a max dose in a 24 hr period on antacids. Check the label.
