UK SMOG Wannabes ~ December

Chocolate your dp and mind sound like the same person, we had a massive row last week about how little he does around the house to help me, especially as I started work last week and had college work to do, I needed help and he sat on his arse the whole time and then had the cheek to moan that the house was a mess. I flipped!!
I can't figure out if its that's he's a sexist pig or just pure lazy!
He did get up with the kids today tho which was nice!

We are off to see puss in boots this afternoon! Can't wait to eat lots of I've cream!! :) lol

Not long till Christmas!! What are you all doing? We are out Christmas Lunch to a pub with about 14 of us, never done that before but just dont want the hassle of cooking while I have young children, also we need a new cooker as it never cooks quick enough so also waiting for a new one.

Must be something in the air because dp has beeen spoiling for an argument all weekend! and I'm too tired to rise to the bait.

Also DP's grandparents rang today saying how 'disgusting' it was that we won't be going to DP's dad's on Christmas day (DP has had Christmas day at his Dad's ever since his parents split when he was about 8). This will be DS1's 5th Christams and the first at home. I just wanted a really chilled, Christmas with no driving, no carting around of toys, watching Christmas telly and staying in pj's until noon.

We live about 25 minutes from DP's dad and his Granparents and we are popping in the day after boxing day. Also they've just had a newborn baby that will be under 2 weeks old on Christmas day so didn't think they'd want the added stress of four other people to feed. Plus I just want to have a go at cooking Christmas dinner even if i'm not going to eat it :D!

Still no smiley but not losing hope until CD 20 as my last cycle was 34 days instead of 27. Probably a good thing as don't think I could have brought myself to DTD with DP in his mood!!

I got all the presents wrapped last night after work and realised that it looks a little sparse so off to get some more stocking filler bits for the boys tomorrow. 7 days to go!!

Mmmmm Mississippi mud ice cream is yummy! Even if the film wasn't all that it was worth it for the ice cream lol!

Chocolate, dp got up with the kids and made me a nice bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast, then took us to the cinema so he's actually been a good boy today! He's off work with the kids tomorrow as well so should be a little appreciation coming my way soon! Lol

glad to here youve got dp back into line now kell!! Men just need a little bit of reminder to let them no their place. lol

LOL I'm a vegetarian so it's not that big of a deal really, The best part of a roast/Christmas dinner to me used to be roast potatoes but I'm completely traumatised by any kind of potato now lol! The only thing i'll miss over Xmas are the Cadbury's roses! The toffee ones are my favourite and I could eat them all day!

Well My DP isn't doing much to help my sway but is abstaining. He has been for 9 days now and don't think he'll play along for much longer. My CM is very creamy with a little stretch so I think this means OV is just around the corner (hopefully) and it should change to watery and stretchy soon.

I really need some advice,

So I was wondering weather I should go for a cut off and O+12 although I know it won't be a true O+12 because I would have already had an attempt. Sunset I know you did a combo. I just don't want to waste the abstaining? Then maybe frequent release until O+12

Also my opks are really driving me insane I didn't even have a faint line on a cheapie when I tested earlier. And with the creamy CM so i'm thinking i've missed O AGAIN (second time to panic in one cycle).... god I was so chilled about this when I was tracking my cycles and It wasn't all for real. I know OPKs fade in and out but geesh.

So what do you all think?

been busy and tired sorry not been on x hope you are all ok x sorry alot of you are having family issues or have had - i think xmas brings it up even more as you are meant to see family etc x DH dad is completely rubbish doesnt bother with dh or our kids, my mum is brill, my MIL is pretty good for babysitting for about an hour lol and my dad is ok but his GF I absolutely hate so thats always fun. I have to face DH dad and stepmum on xmas eve....i have already warned him i am tired and hormonal i wont be holding back if they are rude or bitchy to me :D i have no time for them anymore they have none for DH or my boys who they should be proud of and yet show no interest what so ever. i was in exactly the same dilema as you lavender on wether to do a combo or just a 0+12. my plan was to just do 0+12 as i didnt want waste abstinance and then try for a o+16. But obviously i never managed to sway for this pg. hope you figure out what is best for you

Wow there's alot of family drama going on at the moment! such a shame as it's christmas time but like charlieispy said, christmas probably brings it out even more.

Chocolate ~ we celebrate swedish christmas on the 24th so will be having swedish christmas dinner and then santa will come for a visit and give the kids their presents and then on christmas day we'll be going to dh's parents for the day to celebrate english christmas :)

Lavenderlime, I would look at your options of timing and then look at how you would feel if you achieved pregnancy by using those methods, if you would be happy with that then go for that timing method.
Personally for me I think Id miss 0+12 so would aim for abstinance with a cut off, then after the cut off I would think about getting OH to do the FR or compressed release whatever that is, just incase the cut off ends up being too far away, then you can have another go around 0 or at 0+12.
So annoying when ovulation isnt predictable and does as you expect!

Kell fell free to send your dp round here to have words with mine lol! He was all right this am and then he flipped again this pm because he forgot to get more dishwasher tablets and didnt want to pop down to the shop to get some more. Then said I make things more complicated than they have to be -he forgot to get them! He is having tantrums as he knows he has taken it all for granted and Im getting strict.

He even didnt get me a birthday card or pressent from him or the boys, it was last Tuesday and he was doing overtime that night, but we were away all weekend and I said hed best get me something from the boys, there were shops on site and he still didnt get anything. He then said hed get something this weekend but I said its the thought that counts so dont bother. I could throttle that man this weekend, wish Id have had an insight into his true colours, but then I wouldnt have my boys so have him to thank for that I guess lol

Well I think I will probably ovulate on CD 20 or there abouts this cycles instead of 15. So will have an attempt tomorrow pm as that will be a 3 day or so cut off then do frequent until O+12. My plan was always to do O+12 one shot but that was when my cycles were regular. Timing is also the least importnat factor so this time I will do two attempts. I know DP will moan if I try and make him wait until Thursday. Ho hum I have been super strict on the diets for about 8 weeks now and now lost a stone so think that'll be my strongest swaying factor. FX

Sunset my sisters are half Latvian and they celebrate Christmas on the 24th and open their presents then too!

Hello to everyone else!! Off to watch a bit of TV then bed. I have my work night out tom night, it's a Take that tribute band and I HATE Take that, but it's a night out and prob my last for the next few yrs!!! lol All my work mates LOVE them, so it will be a good night I'm sure! It's in a lovely hotel by the river. I am Taxi which I don't mind as at least I won't have a hangover this year for the school run!! lol I am wearing a plain black dress and got some black maternity tights, but can't find my high heels!! ahh! Not what I would of normally wear, but the dress is a maternity one, was £18, got it for £4!!! Bargain and I will jazz it up with some nice jewellery. Bought a new lippy, so all set!

DS1 has croup!!! :( he was fine this afternoon then when he went to bed he started coughing constantly and hasnt stopped since and wheezing like mad and his breathing just sounds really struggled :( so rang the out of hours doctors and she said "yep that's croup" :( .. it's going to be a loooong night!

Lavender my plan was cut off and possibly o+12 but didnt think i would be able to highlight it but then I thought I was oing BD then 3-4 days later got a blazing +OPK!! I ended up with a cutoff of about 14hours before O however I used neat lime and alot of replens and a perfect o+12 so hoping it was a the o+12 sperm that survived I still used neat lime but added it to my mooncup......the dilemnas!! FX you manage your attempt and it all goes well x good luck x

My next scan is the 29th of december it should have been this week but the lady who did my 7wk scan put me at 6wks and wouldnt listen to me so i will be over 13wks when i have it done......FX for a good nub shot - should be pretty obvious surely? Although read something on the boards about 14wk nubs not being acurate??

I have alot of catching up on this thread, been very busy with dad coming out of hospital and christmas nativitys and parties etc that i havent had much time to keep up. Sat at the moment waiting to hear news on dad as he got rushed into hospital at 4am this morning unable to breathe, the paramedics done ECG and something on ECG so took him into hospital, they done another and there is something on that also (he had triple heart bypass last week). Just a waiting game at the mo, fx all will be ok.

I had very good chat with dh over last couple of days and decided we will be ttc in March so will start to get everything ready for the swaying. I have read so much about swaying my head is just over run with info i dont know what im doing :confused:

I am currently tracking my cycles and on CD18 i been using cheap OPK tests and yesterday i got faint line think i am going to o soon, tested again this morning and it is considerably darker but not quite the same shade as the control line, does that mean i still haven't ov'd yet? I will test again between 2pm-4pm.
For our sway we are going to start a diet in Jan not strict girl diet but less calories no chocs, sweets etc. Cut out red meat and i will drink more milk etc. We will take suppliment but im not sure which to use, if anyone can point me in right direction that would be great. Dh is happy to take supps also :happy:
I want to start testing my ph and make the neccesary changes but not sure if i can do this as when i have tried to locate my cervix, i cant :worry: I have read that the Ph is abig part of swaying and im worried i wont be able to do anything if i cant test it??!!
We will be trying for O+12 with abstaining and one try, no big O for me with shallow release.

This maybe a loose sway but will it be enough do you think? Is there anything else we could do to better our chances? I dont understand the whole ions and moon thing so wont be doing any of that.
I will start to purchase suppliments and thing soon when i know which to get. Im so excited to actually be doing it but scared at the same time, its so much to take in i confuse myself so easily.
Now i know we will be doing it i am also finding it hard to wait till march.

For those of you who have conceived girls what suppliments did you take if any?

Sorry to hear a few of you are having probs with lazy dp/h's and stroppy ones too. Mine has been ok so far though a bit more sympathy over my psoariasis would be nice!
Rash has got worse (but then it will for a motnh at least) but me and dh both think its looking less angry and flatter so hopefully it will slowly start to disappear. Had so much support from friends and lots of donations of left over diprobase, emulsyfiying ointment and epsom salts...bless them.
Hoping i will get my smiley this week though this weekend has not been great for my diet, but then i always knew i would have to start to relax it a bit anyway. Gonna test ph today and see what the damage is! fx!

Aww thanks Inglwood :-) bless ur mum, i agree, hes soo cute hehe. Yes the boys love him dearly, i hardly ever get to push the pram coz they fight over it lol. Its only this pg ive fitted in my clothes this quick, i think its because i worked so late and my jobs physical, i was huge with ds2 so was determind not to eat all day lol.
Ds3 is a good sleeper, he goes 11-4am every night then 5-7/8 ish. Hope you are keeping well with those percious little girls, have you got any names? sooo exciting :-). Lots of love x x

We do that too! Have half our presents on Swedish christmas after the ham and sil (from the tomte) and then santa comes for English christmas. It is fun to spread it out over a few days, there are always so many presents! I can't wait, I love christmas!!

Hi ladies :D My grandad has given us some money for Christmas and rather than spend it on yet more toys for the boys, I'm wondering about a short holiday in the Easter holidays (one of the Featherdown Farm holidays we were talking about recently!). I'll be 34 weeks pregnant though - would you do it? I've never had a baby early and it'll only be for 3 nights, just a couple of hours from home. I've looked through the catalogue and discounted any of the farms which have Spring lambing (not for pregnant women!). What do you think?

Zanacal I would 100% say go for it even at 34 weeks. It really is a very chilled holiday, The only PITA was walking to the showers but if the weathers nice it shouldn't be as bad. I really enjoyed cooking on the log burner, and snuggling up by lantern and candle light in the evenings. The boys loved the farm and being able to run around in the huge field, our day trips. The beds are really comfy too and your boys will love the cupboard bed!

Thank you all so much for offering advice reassurance on my sway! It means so much thanks. Don't know what i'd do without you ladies.:)

Book it ;) it will be fun....i still cant believe i have booked a holiday for 6weeks after button is due all will be fine though :D

HappyLea ~ omg how scary! I hope your dad is ok!!!! There are a few ladies who are waiting to ttc until March so you won’t be alone :) I do believe both Chocolate and Wishing4pink is planning on swaying then :)
The test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line for the test to be positive so i would say it was probably negative this morning. When it’s positive it’s usually very obvious :)
I think if you are happy with your sway plan then it will definitely be a good sway! For my sway I took calcium citrate, magnesium, cranberry and vitex supps. I could locate my cervix but could never quite work out when exactly i was ovulating by cervix position alone so i used to rely more on my cm and temp shifts to work out approximately when o+12 happened. To test your ph you will need to collect a little cm high up in your v. It doesn’t necessarily have to be right from the cervix if you cant find it but don’t use cm from the entrance as that will be very acidic. I used to insert a menstrual cup for half an hour to get a good sample to test :agree:

Deaks ~ oh your rash sounds so terrible! I hope it’s not too uncomfortable for you! Good luck with your attempt this month! Are you planning on doing a true o+12? Will you be using any lime or aci gel?

Thanks Sunset - Dad is back home now after lots of tests turns out its a throat infection that was affecting his breathing and the dont know what the blip was on ECG but all his test came back ok which is good.

With everything with dad today i forgot to do another OPK between 2-4pm but just done one now and it is very nearly the same shade but maybe not quite 100% same shade but going in the right direction to get a + one soon i also getting what i think is o pains in my lower back.

I have just read about the menstrual cup on another thread also and think i will give that ago, its nice to know that it does have to come right from cervix entrance. Just looking at getting some of the supps and holland and barrett have a sale on the vitex :bigsmile: sucker for a bargain...lol!

Im excited to be getting ready to actually do this...eeek!!!

well quick update before i go to sleep, i had few o pains earlier and still getting them now. so i thought i would try and check cm (i still didnt find cervix) but i got some ewcm. I think i may just get the hang of tracking my cycle yet.

does ewcm come before ov or after? as OPKs today are much darker but a shade or so lighter than control line. Am i right in think i may actually ov in early hours??

zanacal - holiday would prob be fine. I'd just make sure I'd worked out all the hospital options nearby. I got married at 32 weeks and he stayed put despite all the excitement. was dancing all night too :)

Well I'm sure I've missed loads!! My brother has left now - he's gone on to stay with my sister in Sydney. Was lovely to meet my little niece - shes only 18 months with blonde crazy curly hair! Must admit I did get sad a couple of times when I was hanging out all her little girly washing.... thinking I wonder if I'll ever get to do this.

There was a program on cable here the other evening and I finally got around to watching it. It was called "8 boys and wanting a girl". It was an English show... mentioned IG and PGD. It was really good to see actually... and interesting to see what the men said about the situation.

How are everyones Christmas plans going? I can't believe its only in a few days. Was rushing round this moring buying a couple of last minute things. I think I'm finally done though.

London was fantastic the theatre only took us just over an hour to get to but parking was ridiculous in the end DH dropped us off and parked in a disabled spot (other people were doing this too) glad he didnt tell me till the end or i would have screwed! Was shattered though - DH let me sleep in the afternoon which was good as I HAD to start the wrapping kept meaning to but so totally washed out once the boys are in bed. Only have a few bits left now.
Had a moment in bed listening to the boys being boys and discussing which DVD to watch - all boy ones of course and thought oh god please let me have a pink one in my belly - i just want someone to share girly stuff with and to feel not so totally alone and alien in a house of blue...........although i am sure I will produce another boy! My friend had her first yesterday too and beautiful little girl........<sigh> anyway enough of that

any plans for the holidays before the big day? We are about to make gingerbread x tomorrow have to go food shopping and deliver cards etc x thurs/fri no plans as of yet

HappyLea ~ glad to hear all the tests came back normal! I can only imagine how worried you must all have been! Ewcm is very individual i would say. I always got ewcm several days before ov so i’m not much help there lol if you’ve had 2 what looks like +opk’s you might well be ovulating soon. Is this your first cycle tracking ov?

Pinga ~ good to hear from you again! I can imagine it must have been hard to have a little girl in the house, but who knows you might be cooking your own daughter ;) i’m terrible, i’ve still got to buy my DH as Christmas present.. but in my defence he’s ridiculously hard to buy for!

Charlieispy ~ i did finally feel my legs again :p i think from now on i’ll have to sit at the table and wrap presents instead of on the floor. It was a bad idea! Glad you enjoyed the theatre! :) aww don’t lose hope yet, i didn’t think i was cooking a pink one, but it seems I am and I have got a pink feeling for you!!! ;) i still can’t believe you’re gonna stay team green and keep me waiting :p eek! No plans really, i’m busy tidying the house so it looks somewhat presentable when we have guests on Saturday. Ds1 is still poorly with croup so we’re having lazy days in at the moment. I need to go food shopping tomorrow as well.. should be fun *not*. I tried to book a delivery slot online, but was I a fool to think there would be any available at this time of the year :rofl: so i will just have to brave the supermarket lol

I'm going to see the midwife this afternoon to check my blood pressure again and hopefully it will behave :)

Hey everyone, not long till Christmas!!!

Im wrapping tonight, will not do wrapping on Christmas Eve, takes so much longer than expected and Christmas Eve I get all the pressies out and decorate the room with tacky xmas decorations and say the elves did it :-)

OH has been back to work and I made him sleep on the sofa for 2 nights (good job it isnt ttc months) he just doesnt seem to ever get my points unless he gets a punishment! I jokingly made him a good behaviour reward chart too lol.

My friend is off for a scan today, she is early pregnancy and started spotting yesterday and it hasnt stopped, she has had miscarriages before but has a boy and a girl so really hoping its just one of those things. I miscarried on the 29th December just after Christmas, miscarriages are awful but around Chrsitmas just adds to it :-( Fingers are crossed for her.
Made me realise to def. go back under the specialists care so I will get monitored and early scans as my risk goes up to 40% by just having PCOS. Life can be very cruel but trying to remember people who are worse off and cant have children, have a lot to be grateful for this Christmas :-)
