Wanting-a-girl -- the US has a pretty hardcore vaccination policy. We are splitting up all of our shots so they never get more than two at a time. The Hep B vaccine is actually administered to babies at birth here! We opted out of that with the boys and they actually haven't had any Hep B shots at all.
When I was 17, I got a booster for Hep B (in Europe) and two weeks later, I could barely lift my arms, could hardly walk, and I was in tremendous pain and stiff all over. My labs were a complete mess with inflammation levels through the roof. It took almost two years of hardcore meds all of which didn't do anything (cortisone, methotrexate, plaquenil, which is an anti-malaria med used for lupus, etc). I was diagnosed with everything from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to lupus, etc. Anyway, after a while it just disappeared and I haven't been sick since then (also never got another hep b shot!). All the doctors vehemently argued that it was NOT a reaction from the heb b vaccine and that I was just in "remission" from whatever illness I had. Yeah right. So that's why my kids will NOT get this vaccine.
We are also delaying MMR until 2 years instead of 1.
Thorz -- I really hope my hep b rant doesn't make you feel bad. That wasn't my intention. Plenty of babies/kids get it and are just fine. It was just a personal decision based on my own health history and I would never judge anyone for giving it to their kids.
Thorz sorry your lill mans ill ;-(

Diva, it doesn't scare me or make me feel bad. My Parents are really hard core ANTI VACCINATION and hear all sorts of things from them. I feel that if someone knows there might be a genetic predisposition to reacting poorly to a vaccination then they should NOT get it or give it to their kids. We do not get the flu shot because it now has the H1N1 included and 2 of my sisters got permanent nerve issues from it and the Doctors agree that it came from the H1N1 so, I do not get the flu shot and neither do my boys because of what happened to my sisters. We used to get it until they combined it with the H1N1. Also, I am the same way with the schedule for my boys shots. He is behind the normal schedule because I am very picky about when he can have them and how many DH is a Dr so he is pro vaccination and my parents are so ANTI that I hear it from both sides all of the time. I absolutely believe that people can have adverse reactions and for that reason I do them on my own schedule. Sorry all of that happened to you, I am glad you are better now!
i havnt given ds3 any vaccines YET lol i am going to start soon i just didnt want any what ifs with him and autism i am a paranoid wreck with him tho everytime he gets sick i swear i have a mental breakdown wondering if he has something crazy
there are certain shot that i will not be giving him tho cause i personally dont see the point for some

also i think the vaccine thing is a very personal decision ... and I am just saying what i personally do with my little guy i would never push my views on others or make any one feel bad for vaccinating we all do what we think is best
