AFM- AF should start later today or tomorrow most likely. We will probably keep BDing every 3-4 days and continue for a few more attempts after temp rise. I was expecting this cycle to be wonky, since this is the first cycle after DS2 stopped BFing. I'll let my acupuncturist know about this cycle to see if things need tweaking. I bet it is just from no longer BFing though.

sweetlily - My apologies, I thought your signature meant you were expecting, but I see you are being optimistic? I'm glad you figured out the iodine! It's a shame they wouldn't test. I've heard so much about standard thyoid tests being inaccurate and needing to look at several components to get an accurate picture. I am still undecided about the classes. It's like I want to have that as an option if we can't get a bfp in the next couple of months, but I hate that they take so much time and money, and childcare is an issue for us. I know some of the teachers do distance learning, so I contacted one today to ask about prices for that.

taytum - I've tried guafenesin (used the Walgreen's brand 12 hour extended release tablets since I don't like the dyes and additives in Robatussin and Mucinex), and obviously it did not work for me. If anything, it made me even more watery, which is my problem already. I know it works for some ladies. It probably depends on the root nature of what the hold-up is in your body. Do I sound like I know a lot, lol? That's just what you end up sounding like after doing this stuff for a year!

emilee - Congrats and condolences! Wow, that's a lot going on in your life. FX he finds and even better job and you end up holding a pink bundle!

Hello all, popping in quickly with a question. I was lazy swaying pink this cycle, but including the LE diet. At the moment I'm 10 dpo and still bfn. I know from elsewhere on the site that the recommendation is to stick with the LE diet during the 2ww. Well, I've finally caught the terrible bug DH has been fighting for almost 2 weeks and DS has had for 4-5 days. I can feel that if I keep up with the LE diet I won't get better in a decent time frame. Am I good to drop the LE diet for awhile, or should I deal with feeling like a dead dog for as long as possible so I maintain the LE diet and am possibly still half-way sick when TTC in March? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Zillers- I hope you feel better soon! What is it about the LE diet that makes you feel you won't recover soon? Not eating meat? No snacking between meals? There are no forbidden foods (Except avoiding red meat as much as possible). If you do need to eat more small meals, that should be fine as long as you stay within the overall limits. If you have to stop, remember that a few days doesn't undermine all the work you have done previously. I hope you get well soon!

Sage--great links! Thanks :) My lady does skype sessions, but she charges the same. Honestly, the course was NOT fun. they actually drill you on a few questions, including the right way to test cm (its on the TP by the way, with a fingertip. Eeew--I mean, Im not squeamish, but I dont want to talk to someone about that...as for me I dont get enough cm to test that way and go against all their teachings by testing inside...LOL) In any case, make sure you have privacy cause my lady asked things that I was actually embarrassed to discuss in front of dh and we talk about everything except our BM's!!!!

Emilee, CONGRATS on that gorgeous BFP!!!! I always say, when its THE WORST POSSIBLE TIMING, you will get your bfp. I expect a BFP this month. DH will find a job, I am sure. Mine is away working for the first time in our 7 year relationship/marriage and coming home every 2 weeks, its not fun. We have invested everything we own in our business and have some huge sales pending, but we are riding it out waiting for the deals to close. And the deals take FOREVER...I might have something new to bring DH home for the next 4 months so fx to that! I hope your dh gets something too, and glad you causght that egg cause being a MAN he WOULD have called it off...and that brings me to the next posts I followed here...

As for DH's changing their minds (and I am sorry I forgot names, but there were a couple of you and I am groggy from antihistamines!) DH's ALWAYS change their minds! All the time! I have had a n on again off again ttc with our DD for the last 3 years, and many of the girls will remember that from back in the days of IG...I have been HERE since its inception. I just dont frequent sometimes out of frustration--over DH chaning is mind and calling it off (after months of diet hell) or because of my own body's lacks of cooperation and having chemical after chemical. I get pregnancy just long enough to get 3 days of bfps and then they go back to bfn. SO maddening! I wish someone could just figure it out already! Dhs want perfect timing or they tend to bail. they get cold feet and freak out. They don;t understand that there really never is an ideal time in most ppls lives (Ok, I have known a few who were truly ready on every level, but they are few and far between!). Hugs to you.

Maiden, that chart is looking good. what a temp drop, I have never seen one of mine fall so low like that. I hope you catch your egg this month.

AFM, I can suddenly smell everything and he scent of the dogs makes me want to barf (no kidding...) and I even had to make DS change his pjs when he came to bed last night cause they smelled yucky straight out of the laundry. Gotta rewash that load! Eek. So like I said, this should be my month according to my theories in life, cause there could not be a worse month at all than now! I have 4 kids, I know all about the luck of timing. IN FACT, I was so desperate to get KU with DD that I threw all my maternity clothes out from my previous (ok, I think I donated them but anyway) and sure enough THAT MONTH I got my bfp after months of trying. All my other kids were OHW while USING bc! And with DS1, I honestly got pregnant the month I went out and bought a whole new wardrobe, and couldt wear those clothes again for a year. LOL.

Well, sorry for the bfns on here, I hope you guys catch your eggs soon. FX to sticky beans and bfps!

XX, the low protein, low fat, and skipping breakfast. All conspire to keep my blood sugar low, which is obviously the point. Being sick I crave calories with staying power like protein and fat, and when my blood sugar dips, especially in the morning, I get quite dizzy.

Me too. I have an overnight fast of 16+ hours. My last meal is around 5:30pm-6:30pm, and I have my first meal around 9:30-11:00 most days. This helps me a lot. I have 3 small-average meals a day. As long as you have a big overnight fast and another small fast between lunch and dinner (for me 5-6 hours), this should help a lot. I have hypoglycemia and this allows me to do the LE diet without crashing!

You may need to switch to longer acting carbs like whole grains, unless you are gluten intolerant. This helps prevent the huge crash after meals, but you still get your blood sugar low before the next meal.

Also, have the upper limits of protein and fat right now- 50grams protein 60grams fat. That should help your cravings while not going over board. When you're sick, this is a good time to plan a few cheats!

zillers, I wouldn't go off the LE bc you are sick. Just have lots of soups and fluids - totally LE friendly!

Junie, XX, sage and sweetlily, thank you! I'm not fasting anymore. The first week if this cycle I was alternating 1000 & 2000 cal days, and then the past few days I've been eating around 1500 daily. I decided based on my recent short LPs and extra light AFs I didn't want to risk losing more weight. My temp almost always drops down to 97.3-5 at one point, and then I O 2-6 days later usually (if I'm not on any supps). But usually my temps drop to around 97.7-8 for a few days before dropping to their lowest point. This month the drop is bigger and earlier. But it's also just a crazy cycle bc I've had fertile CM on and off since CD2!

Unfortunately I have not been able to BD yet and I could O as soon as tomorrow. I've actually been really horny too for me. But either DF pisses me off (I can't have sex with a man I'm angry/annoyed with, it's my biggest turn off) or else he has excuses. Which then annoys me, grr. Plus no girl likes to feel rejected. Oh and just coming onto him doesn't work, but he complains I'm too clinical when I tell him we need to BD? I even went off my pain meds this am so I'd have a chance at orgasming but now I'm in major pain bc I waited so long.

Maiden- maybe tonight? :)

LOL, I would absolutely do that but I am not strong enough to restrain him. We tried and he couldn't finish. I think his own anger/disappointment with himself further got in the way. Which is annoying bc I am sooooooo good about not showing my own disappointment and being patient. But he wasn't even willing to work with me, grr. Maybe oral would work but I don't want anything to lower odds of conception at this point.

Btw XX I think your chart is still super promising, bc even with the latest temp drop your temp is wa is way higher than usual.

Junie, thank you for the German translation, I will try the REs at the Uni Klinik in Bonn or a center down in Koblenz, depending on which has an earlier opening. I'm pretty much exactly between the 2 cities.

The book has explained my case to me even without blood tests: I'm not getting good ewcm before o because I don't have good estrogen. I'm getting stuff like ewcm in the 2ww and just before af and spotting before af because the estrogen and progesterone are off. They're off because my follicles and then corpus luteum are not maturing right. So my current tactic is acupuncture and really trying to improve my overall health, eating even better, exercising even better. The book didn't describe an exact treatment for this sort of situation, although it did mention B6 for people with dry cm, but that probably hasn't done much for me because that's not my problem; I do get cm, it's just not great quality and comes at the wrong times. I need to study more and memorize the description of fertile cm, which was stretchy, clear, and/or something. Anyway, great book if anyone is truly overly obsessed with all this stuff. Obsession helps sway boy, right? lol

I can't always keep up on these but someone asked me about this post in a PM and I need to address this.

It is normal to have pregnancy symptoms sometimes in the 2ww when things are functioning normally. IT's because your body makes a bunch of progesterone and that can cause symptoms. WE see this all the time with people who do prog supps, they have strong pregnancy symptoms. Having preg. symptoms in the 2ww DOES NOT mean anything is hormonally wrong with you.

It is also to get EWCM sometimes in the luteal phase. Many people report a bit of EWCM right before AF.

I just hate to see you guys poring over symptoms that are very likely meaningless. EVen though there are tons of books and sites that will make all these claims about X meaning Y the fact is that everyone is different and there is no conclusion to be drawn without blood tests about what is going on.b

If your doctor requires you to take classes and chart before running blood tests, get a new doctor. They are not doing their jobs.

I really hope the boosted fertility after an early loss theory is true and it helps you conceive a little boy quickly. I do think regardless you should see more normal cycles from here on out, fx. I think there is more to your story that I've missed because I'm relatively new, but I've seen your references to pain and recovery, etc. Would love a quick recap because you're quite knowledgeable and just wondered what your journey to this stage had been.

And Taytum, regarding the boosted fertility theory that Maiden mentions, I'd never heard of that but it was certainly true for me! I had two CPs in a row and then got pregnant with my second son all within the span of three quick months. In fact it happened so fast and without a period that I was six weeks pregnant before I realized it. Hopefully the same holds true for you!

Uschi, I'm very difficult to offend. ;) And I would certainly speak up if I were offended. My story is super long (probably everyone's is, though), but I wrote a lot of the main points out in my very first thread back in Dec 2013, if you search my started threads on my profile. The pain is bc I have severe scoliosis which unfortunately has been getting worse since 2006 (usually it stops once growth is finished, and it did hold steady for 10 years). The recovery refers to recent cosmetic surgery (I started a thread on that too); I had my abdomen & love handles liposucted and the fat injected into my substantially smaller right breast 3 months ago. Anything you're curious about just ask, or you can PM me but I take a while to respond to PMs bc I can't do do on my tablet which is how I prefer to internet. I.e. lying down vs sitting up, which is painful.

How do you like having your 2 boys so close together (and how far apart in age are they exactly)? It sounds like you intentionally tried to have them as close as possible/were aiming for a specific gap? Any particular reasoning behind it? How long did you BF your DS1 for and did that interfere with your goal to have another child soon/ASAP? I hope you don't mind all the Qs, and feel free to tell me off if I'm being too nosy. I wonder bc I would like to have my children as close together as possible (providing my scoliosis doesn't pose a problem), and I would also like to BF all my children long term (certainly for at least a year, and the first 6 months or so exclusively), so I'd love any advice!

Oh, and how many children do you think you want total? Why did you choose to have a bigger gap between DS2 and DC3, or have you been trying for a long time? Ideally, what gap would you want there?

Maiden- I bet your scoliosis won't pose as much a problem as you think. I have severe scoliosis- complete S curve in my thoracic, an S curve in my cervical and lumbar spine with lordosis in my sacral and thoracic spine. Both my pregnancies were great and labor was 6 hours from first contraction to holding my baby. With DS2, I did have horrible back labor, but going on all fours helped tremendously until I had to push. They let me push while sqauting and that took the pressure off.

You'll be fine- trust me!

Oh, and my scoliosis has gotten better my hips and legs are finally even!!!!!!

Add me to the scoliosis club, lol. Have either of you read "8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back" or heard of Ester Gokhale? I first learned about it a couple of years ago, and it helped. I credit the spinning babies website, doing nightly pelvic tilts before laying down (as described in the Bradley book), and an awareness of letting my belly hang and not sink into my pelvis when I sat (I believe all that was on spinning babies) as contributing to my successful homebirth. The scoliosis wasn't an issue until she was about 3 months old and I was putting myself out of whack reaching for her so often at night. I had some physical therapy then and changed how I was moving, so things improved. Anyway, I saw dh's footprints in the snow last week and was motivated to pull the Gokhale book off the shelf again, so it's part of my renewed effort to be super healthy for my bfp and sway! BTW, my sister also has severe scoliosis and it seems to have improved after having her two DD's. She still sees a chiropractor regularly but she doesn't seem to mention pain nearly as much as she did before.

I didn't get married until I was 35 - not at all what I wanted, but wasn't going to settle on DH. So the race was on at that point. Couldn't TTC the first six months because I had just had my thyroid ablated and needed to wait for the radiation to fully exit my body. Then, DS1 came with one attempt. I was fully intending to EBF but was told he needed formula supplementation due to slow weight gain. So I BF and FF from the beginning. In hindsight and with more experience, I would have pushed harder to EBF and not just listened to the first person to tell me what to do. But this made DS1 less dependent on me and reduced my supply so he weaned himself at ten months when I got pregnant with DS2 (I assume he recognized a taste change). DS2 was EBF and he's a totally different story. We're still going strong at 15 months (just stopped round the clock last month) and he is showing absolutely no signs of wanting to wean. (I'm totally pro-BF, the longer the better. DH, who is British, and I totally laugh at the "controversies" surrounding it in the U.S. For instance, the TIME magazine cover two years ago with a BF four-year-old that caused a storm and the current show "The Slap" centering on a spoiled BF five-year old, or the fact that it's necessary to protect public BF with laws). DS's are 19 months apart; could have been 17 months if not for the CPs. I had two different docs with them and they both recommended TTC when DS was only six months just due to my age and assumed lower infertility. Knowing we were only having three, and being absolutely desperate for a DD, I found GD and bought a personalized plan. My period took longer to come back this time so didn't TTC until DS2 was eight months and we went for six cycles; that's the only reason for the bigger gap between these two. I'm 39 now and DH is 46 so just don't have luxury of time.

I have four siblings and always wanted at least four children, but that dream is dashed just due to age (I know it's possible, but I'm lucky to get three with DH). Ideally, for us, the gap would be two years, only due to our personalities and (in)ability to deal with stress ~ LOL
But 18 months is great for the kids and they will have such close relationships when they're older.

Jumping in to say, every single girl on my father's side, 5 generations has a scoliosis. I was hoping that it was something IVF/PGD could screen for but unfortunately not. So sorry that you ladies suffer from this. 12 year old cousin's spine is complete rod. She will never grow. I mentioned to her mother that she won't be able to get an epidural when she has her babies :(

Thank you all very much for your kind thoughts and words. Still in shock about BFP! AF would have arrived yesterday so I took my temp and sitting high at 98.6! Sure hoping this is a happy, healthy, sticky baby!

I'm feeling ify about my sway. We BD 2 nights in a row. Although I'm pretty sure I O'd the evening of 2nd BD. Like before we actually even BD'd. I had all the physical symptoms and chart showed it too the next day. Fx! Just happy to finally be here.

XX, wow. You ARE my twin. I almost don't believe you. How is that possible?! I also have two S curves/3 curves total. My top one to the left is 42 degrees, my huge upper thoracic middle curve e right WAS 70-something degrees at age 17, now it is 103 degrees :( ,my bottom left curve is 24 degrees. I have major rotation about the apex of my big curve; one vertebra is rotated completed, 180 degrees. So I have a big hump on the right side of my back and my left ribs stick out in front. Pain wise my entire upper back aches constantly, my right shoulder is hard as a rock tense, and I have what I call my 'bitch spot', basically a huge swollen trigger point below my ribs. This spot goes crazy if I sit or stand for more than 5 minutes, bc the muscles are constantly spasming.

How much lost height do they estimate for you? I also gave uneven hips & leg length. I am really hoping pregnancy helps my scoliosis bc of how good I felt when I was pregnant in 2012. Your story is very encouraging! I want to do home births, I'll use my own pain meds if need be!

sage, I'm sorry you have it too. I haven't heard of her but I will definitely check it out. Thank you! Great to hear you had a successful home birth. :) I am planning on cosleeping which hopefully will prevent an issue like you experienced but I'll remember to keep that in mind.

Uschi, that is great to hear about your sister (and hopefully I will have 2 DDs like her!). I had a great chiropractic DH/DW team I saw regularly in college but of the dozens I've tried, only they have been able to successfully adjust me. I thought age might be the driving factor for you. I really wanted kids in my 20s but my DH was reluctant despite our prior agreement and then he died. So then I had to start looking for another man. I still haven't found him but I am not willing to wait on kids any longer considering my age. Like you I would really like at least 4, but I know I will have at least 2 then see how I do. I actually wanted even more kids but I don't want to be a really old mom so I think 4 will be my hard max.

Your AF not returning while EBFing DS2 is my big fear/potential obstacle in my planning. But it seems like you are pretty happy with how things worked out which is heartening to hear. If you could be pregnant with G/G twins now, would you choose that? You'd get your 4 kids without getting older...

If I keep striking out TTC naturally I may just go IVF and get a bunch of embies so I know I have babies on hand no matter what.

Completely agree re: BFing! I was BFed until almost 3, my brother was 4 when he weaned. It is a wonderful BFing environment over here.

smarston, while you can have a multiple genes/traits that can predispose you to scoliosis, it isn't a guaranteed genetic condition and can absolutely be prevented with the right environment & lifestyle. So if you're aware and keep an eye on your DD she should be fine. My scoliosis would be extremely mild if I'd been braced but my mother was negligent. It's completely her fault that mine progressed so far in the first place. Also, epidurals aren't that great and there are other pain options. I'm glad I can't have an epi!

Maiden, I was using an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper and it was because of always reaching to the same side and lifting her. Dh moves around a lot and has accidentally hit me on several occasions, so I didn't feel she would be safe in the bed with us and alternating sides. When she got older and was in her crib in the room that adjoins ours (still very close) I had a twin bed in there and would lay down to feed her during the night, but I could NOT fall asleep with her. It only happened once or twice, even though I was forced to share a bed with her once when we traveled. I think it's because of our lip tie/tongue tie issue and that bfing was so painful at first. Even after it wasn't painful, my body just said this isn't someone you can sleep with! lol I hope things are different next time.

Yes, kiddos in my 20's was my dream too, but alas.....and absolutely yes about twins! That's been my secret hope even though DH would die! ;) My mom and two of my aunts had twins so I was hoping that either genetically or the increased chance with age would be in my favor. But my Hcg isn't so high that it's suspected.
I'm quite happy with how things worked out. I really didn't want to cut DS2 short with BF so I was planning on evaluating the situation if AF hadn't appeared once he was a year. I'm glad it didn't come to that. But you're several years younger than me, so I wouldn't worry about it all. If you introduce solids at six months, chances are AF will return within a few months if it hasn't by then. And for your health and sanity, you probably wouldn't want to TTC before that anyway. You have time to have four by 40.
I just want to cry when I think about you being widowed. I think young widowhood is just one of the most tragic things in the world, especially when the dream of motherhood dies with him. I hope you find DH soon!
