It's so excting when so many get to know their babies genders already!
I wish we had private scan places here in my city, I would have been there already if I only could. This waiting is just tooo loooong! Since the scans here are booked only in medical purpose, we have to be at least 18+2 i think. Private places are at least 3 hours away and they are hesitant to do gender scans before 18 weeks anyway. Nine more days for me to wait, it's gonna feel like nine years!
Do you tell people you are going to find out the gender and when?
People have started asking me what day we are going and really want me to text them or call them to let them know immediately. I am trying not to answer them in detail, more like "in about 2 weeks" or "10 days" when it's actually a little less. I feel stressed over having to meet other peoples reactions - especially if it's a little boy since it seems to actually be so important to them (at least the ones that ask). Many aren't even that close and I have not said a word about my own preference.
A (male) colleague that is having his third child after two sons had their scan the other day and he couldn't even get in the door before everyone asked what it was. It was a boy and some comments were actually upsetting (at least for me!). "Oh, no, another one!? For real!? Oh, well... besides that, did it look healthy?".
Poor man, I think I was the only one actually saying congrats and adding something positive about being three brothers. And the thing is he didn't even seem to have any preference and didn't seem disappointed at all.
I am dreading to be the one coming in the door after the scan and having those questions. It's gonna be a big thing for me regardless it's a boy or girl and I am not sure I wanna have to share the feelings with others (except you guys here!) that soon.
Hi Marika!
Hope you get your pink bunndle!
I would suggest you told the people around you that you will wait to find out with birth.
You could share the news with the people you feel comfortable with and decide who you don't want to know.
But anyway try to think positive and imagine yourself telling people you have a little girl.
I know it's hard, but I strongly believe if we imagine positive things, we fill up with positive energy!
