I believe the nub theory works. I think it's really based on the picture/video you are given. I have watched videos on here where one second the nub looks pretty darn flat and the next it's got some decent angle to it. So if you were given a snapshot of the first image, you would get a whole bunch of girl guesses. And if you were given a capture of the second image, you would get a whole bunch of boy guesses. When, in fact, baby was not in a good position one of those times or happened to be more curled, etc. So it's very dependent on the type shots you get. And, as others mentioned, the gestation/CRL.
My daughters nub shot was at 12 weeks even and she measured a tad small. Hers was a toss-up guess. Sure, it looked very girly. But it was so early, I needed to not put stock into it (it didn't change, but easily could have).
But the ladies in here can give a guess...but it is just that...a guess. I couldn't even guess my own nubs, mostly because my sight was clouded. So I'd be very hesitant to announce anything based on a nub. Or nub guessing. I've nailed some nubs where most other guesses are wrong. And I've been dead wrong on plenty of nubs as well. It's all what we see...and sometimes luck ;)
