... but you didn't conceive until the day you ovulated because there was no egg until then - just sperm lying in wait :D
I probably wasn't very clear either lol!
Yes, your body will still show all the signs of ovulation even if the egg is fertilized. Hormones aren't like a light switch, they need some time to turn off and on. Also, the fertilized egg needs that EWCM in order to move through the Fallopian tubes to implant in the uterus.
I think that it was almost certainly the sperm from BEFORE you ovulated. Scientists have studied this and found that the vast, vast majority of conceptions are from sperm present in the cervical crypts prior to ovulation.
Yes, you absolutely can get pregnant from sperm in the vagina before there are any visible signs of ovulation. The sperm stays alive in the semen, makes it into the cervical crypts, and waits until it sees or smells the egg, and then once the egg emerges from the ovary the sperm head up there to fertilize it.
You cannot get pg before the egg comes out of the ovary though.
No, EWCM is produced before, during, and after ovulation. Your estrogen levels rise and rise until ovulation, so just prior to ovulation, you still have quite a lot of estrogen producing that EWCM. Even several days prior. That's how people get pg with a long cutoff (oopsie babies like DS 1) is that they think it's safe to DTD because they just had AF (I had seriously just stopped my AF like the day before I DTD with DS 1),
but there was some EWCM being produced even then, and the sperm can stay alive in that EWCM for many days, until the egg arrives and then they swim up there and fertilize it.
Yes, you get EWCM whether or not the egg is fertilized. Some people get it by the ton and others not so much, and some months you have more than you do other months for a variety of reasons.
