The maternal/fetal blood supply has a little bit of crossover and the baby's DNA can be detected. Whereas with urine it is totally what you drink and has nothing to do with baby DNA or baby's pee (babies do pee but it's contained in amniotic sac).

some of the tests claim to test hormones in urine but they don't TELL you your baby's gender. we all have different levels of hormones and baby boys don't even start making testosterone till they are 10-12 weeks and even then you just can't tell on the basis of the hormones in your pee. They've done studies to prove it.
