Well, I have 4 timing opposites both boys and girl so it's pretty easy for me to get over. :)
NO, they are not that timing. You get your positive OPK an average of 36 hours before O. So you DTD that night (O-1), the next morning (morning of O Day), and then again that night (night of O Day). That is all entirely in Shettles wheelhouse.
I NEVER have anyone use O+12 or especially O+24 timing for any reason. There has never been a single confirmed pregnancy the day after ovulation and even O+12 is a very very long shot for most people. IF you're worried about hitting O+12 with the last attempt, you shouldn't be though, because by DTD starting at positive OPK, you ensure that you COULD NOT get pregnant from O+12 sex anyway, because there would be capacitated sperm waiting. The already capacitated sperm from the earlier attempts would have already fertilized the egg before O+12 could even capacitate and get there.
IT's not that DH needs 2-4 days stored up. IT is that by having him release regularly, every 2-4 days, you maximize his sperm production and even for some men, his sex drive gets a boost as well, and this means that he will be making nice amounts of fresh, healthy sperm. So when that OPK goes positive, even if he just had a release the day before, he needs to go ahead and hit it with BD the night of positive OPK, again the next morning, and then again the following night. Even if you can get just TWO of those attempts in, it will help.
