Losing weight is just one thing that may help but isn't necessary. Lose what you can to be healthy, because we don't want weight flying off of you too quickly and make ovulation go away.
There is no way to predict the right month to conceive a girl. If so, we wouldn't have to sway we would just pick that month and be done with it, hahaha!
CM isn't always a good indicator of cycle length. It often become unreliable once swaying starts as the LE diet is known to make CM drier for most ladies.

There is no set amount to lose. We see best results with 12 weeks + on diet, so I'd aim for that.
You don't know when it's a good month. Just pick a month that is right for you and your family (after 12 weeks if possible) and TTC then. Some do notice changes in cycle or differences in CM, but others don't, and there seems to be no hard and fast rule - some of the people who see big changes in their cycle/cm still get boys, and people who don't still get girls. I would just TTC when you're ready.
