I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 (I'm 40 now), but haven't suffered any acne/painful periods since being vegan. I know I struggle with sugar because if I have too much fruit I can get a bit spotty, and also struggled with falling pregnant when I was having too much fruit. When I cut this down to one piece of fruit a day I fell pregnant the next month.
I've been skipping breakfast and just eating at lunch and dinner. At lunch I'll have a glass of almond milk (unfortified), an apple and then I'll have veggies or salad with houmous. For dinner I'll have a glass of coconut water with beans or lentils (as a soup/stew/in a tomato based sauce with herbs like oregano or in a chilli sauce) with veg/salad. I don't eat gluten either, or drink tea/coffee or alcohol.
I used to have at least one avocado a day in a smoothie with a banana, plus lots of nuts, and drink two green juices with spinach, kale, celery, cucumbers etc, plus I didn't exercise. I've cut all of this out, plus I'm walking 4 miles a day, 5 days a week. I'm taking Vitex (which I took before) and SP, plus I've stopped my prenatal multivitamin and I'm having 800mg folic acid a day instead.
My hubby is vegan and very fit - does weighs and runs and is always on the go. He still has green juices. I'm planning on giving him licorice root. My Luteal Phase is 10 days max (I've fallen pregnant every time with this length of LP so it's not a problem), but is this a long enough break from licorice root for hubby?
