Doesn't matter where you live, why does many girls born in 'girly' months ie Mar, Apr, May?

It's all about the family issues at that time and the diet you eat!

THat's interesting!! Our current family situation is similar to your cousin L when she conceived 2 & 3 which were girls, but I work part time now and that allows me to enjoy and spend some time eating out and socialising which isn't good for pink sway! The only way to hold it back is to constantly remind myself that we're have strict finance situation and better save the money for other stuff such as make up/dress/hairdresser and as much as I want that steak or chinese takeaway, but i want a little girl more!

IG has it quite wrong on when to TTC for pink, and rather inexplicably, they claim that Australia is immune to seasons - um no, your seasons are just the opposite of those in the Northern Hemisphere.

Northern Hemisphere - girl peak conception months Mar, April (best month), May (and possibly to a lesser extent, Feb but maybe June but it is getting too close to summer and longer days for me to totally feel comfy with)
boy peak conception months Sept, Oct (best month), Nov (possibly to lesser extent, Aug; maybe Dec. but is getting too close to winter and shorter days for me to feel totally comfy with)

Southern Hemi - reverse above, so girl peak months are Sept, Oct, Nov (possibly Aug, possibly but less likely Dec)
boy peak conception months Mar, April, May (possibly Feb, possibly but less likely June)

Around the equator, the peaks don't seem to work as well. This is apparently some quirk of living in temperate climates with 4 distinct seasons.

There are plenty of opposites conceived in both girl peaks and boy peaks so obviously first and foremost everyone should do what is best for themselves and their families BUT if you have the option, it makes sense to me to time conception to at least try and capitalize on these peaks.

:agree: totally and this would be just what the theory predicts. Boys born in summer when mama has many months of quality food intake to provide milk after birth because they need more calories throughout life and males who do not have good nutrition throughout life, are less likely to grow up to be able to compete for mates and in nature, will always be on the small side. Girls born in winter because girls need fewer calories and can grow to adulthood and reproduce even with a lack of food at times, because even if they are smaller, most women/female mammals have at least one offspring - they don't have to compete physically for mates the way males do.

It seems to be utterly apart from diet, there may be a legitimate seasonal variance in fertility possibly due to changing day length that our bodies detect even tho we don't even know they're doing it.

won't go over all the posts but just to reiterate, there are TONS of opposites, it's just that there does seem to be something real and legitimate going on here aside from any diet or lifestyle factors - a natural seasonal variation in fertility that seems to additionally cause more boys vs. more girls depending on the time of year. Since swaying is all about optimizing the odds, it makes sense to me to work WITH this phenomenon if we can, rather than working against it.

I myself have 2 boys conceived in Mar and know absolutely there are plenty of opposites, but all I can say is that in my due date club back on IG, I was one of the few who did not conceive a girl (and I am including the blue swayers!!) I ended up having to quit the group because it was all pink, all the time and they were not very considerate of the 3 of us who were having boys and wanted girls. :/

Thanks atomic!! Just wondering if you live in south east Asian country (which i assume its a pretty close neighbour to austrAlia but also right on the equAtor... Eekk) would the peak season follow the same as southern hemisphere countries? DH is considering taking up a job in one of south east Asian countries in a couple of yrs and around that time we also think its an ideal time to ttc#2 :)

No, for some reason we don't totally understand, around the equator more girls than are statistically expected, are conceived regardless of year and the seasonal patterns don't seem to matter much if at all. I personally believe that indicates that it is changing day length that is stimulating this mechanism (and the day length doesn't change much at the equator)

My first son was born in Oct. (conceived in hot summer) and my second in June (conceived end of winter). I'm in the southern hemi. The plan was to ttc a girl in April/May, they seem to be boy months then? I might wait to June, but don't really want to wait much longer than that to ttc.

Yes, they are a bit more girl-friendly (in the Southern Hemisphere) but I would never postpone TTC because of it. I have two boys conceived in "girl" months.

That's interesting to hear... my boys were concieved during 'girl' months too.
