Two - my FS has told me days 2-6 - have you heard of that before? Everything I see on here is 3-7 etc...

My fertility specialist precribed cd5-9 when I took it. Looks like they vary a lot!

With my history I talked it over with the geneticist at my high risk specialist's office. She has access to thousands of studies and sat on the phone with me for over an hour looking into it! The final verdict was yes, there is a slightly increased risk of issues after taking clomid, most "common" being learning disability, BUT the increased odds are negligible at less than 1% in more "common" issues like LD ( less than 0.5% in most of the scary stuff) over general population. Given there is a risk of a child of ours having a learning disability anyway, as it runs on both sides, and I am going to school to be a special education teacher, I didn't feel LD was a big enough issue to avoid clomid. But that is a decision you have to make for yourself. HTH.

Pill colours, sizes and shapes vary with brands. But if you are buying it you will never know 100% that it is clomid despite the generic name being printed on the packaging.

Thanks a lot girl. Twointow i really appreciate your detailed answers.
Today is my second dose of 50 mg cd3-7
Nope. My only clomid conception thus far was my chem preg and I don't think my body was healed enough after my D&C to sustain that one... I don't blame clomid. I did have one conception on a cycle following a clomid cycle (another loss- late term stillborn). But, no, my boys aren't clomids babies.

Oh i m sorry for ur loss hun. Was clomid the reason for still birth
I don't know how to answer that. For years we were told he had Anencephaly, but recently upon his records being reviewed by 2 specialists it was discovered that it is extremely unlikely that that was the case. So we don't really know what happened. I think it was a cord issue because of his neck appearance when he was born. But we will never know for sure.

I am really sorry that you had to answer this Two, sometimes language and cultural differences cause misunderstanding.
To the best of our knowledge Clomid doesn't cause birth defects or any other issues with pregnancy when it is taken as directed and not used during pregnancy.
I m sorry twointow if i said or asked which should not b asked. But atomic is right cultural difference n lang barriers conveys something else sometimes but still i apologize deeply
Fudge. My reply didn't post.
Atomic-what do you mean? I didn't mind. I am a pretty open person. If I don't want to answer something I say so :) what do you mean by language and cultural differences?? I'm not sure how that plays in here... [emoji53]
Boyz- I didn't mind :) If I didn't want to answer I'd say so. I don't mind talking about my losses because as far as I am concerned they, the babies I lost, lost their chance to make thier mark on this world. So, if answering questions about them helps someone, then in a small way they made a mark. They are recognized for the life they lost and remembered by others. So, I truly don't mind :)

Also, I was told that because clomid stays in the system for weeks after being taken, as you know, the potential exists but the risk is VERY low... to the point of being negligible.

Atomic would have to weigh on here, but if you are truly concerned I don't think stopping now would hurt anything. .. esp since you don't know for sure you can trust the pills! On that count alone I think the benefit of stopping far outweighs the risk of stopping.

Some people might feel bad about having to discuss a lost pregancy. I could understand what you were asking and I just meant that I wish that I had seen the question first and answered so she didn't have to talk about it if she didn't feel up to it. :) I hope that makes sense.
Thank atomic
Hi Ladies! Looking for some feedback. First, rewind to a few months ago, I bought a plan and was preparing to start swaying in September. I was on micronor until April when I stopped bfing my now almost 14 month old. AF did not return until June and we decided that we weren't ready to try yet at that point so I went on ortho tri cyclen until September (3 cycles). At the beginning of September, I stopped taking that. Since then, I have been bleeding (sorry TMI) about every 2 weeks. Of course this happens now that we are ready to try!! So I went to my ob/gyn on Monday and she ordered bloodwork and u/s to see what is going on. She said we could try clomid depending on results b/c clearly I am not ovulating. The ironic thing is, I was seriously considering buying clomid online a few months ago while I was prepping for my sway and decided against it. Now that I may need it, I am nervous!
So here are my questions - I have 3 beautiful children that were conceived naturally and quickly - what the heck is happening now???? I am 31!!
I am nervous about using clomid and the risk of twins. What is the actual risk of twins? What other side effects can happen?
I have my sway all planned out and got my plan months ago - I actually realized today when I signed in that my membership lapsed b/c I didn't update my card (it got hacked so I had to get a new one) - but how does the possibility of being on clomid affect my sway?? Right now, I have been dieting (loosely), skipping breakfast, eliminated snacking (or at least trying), and taking fiber 3-4 times a day, before meals.
Any advice, suggestions, feedback, sharing your experiences is appreciated!
I am waiting on the results of the bloodwork and my u/s is next week so if doc feels clomid is best, then it won't be until next cycle. I am currently on CD 4.
Hi Kell, I strongly recommend you go with the Clomid. It's among the best sway tactics and it is totally medically indicated for you. It's among the safest drugs with millions of people using it since the 1960's and I believe it to be as safe as any medication can be.
I think the combo of being off and on the BC has caused some weird cycles. Now usually over time this would work itself out but hey, if ya gots the Clomid option, use it!
I want you on iron 18-60 mg 3x a week or even 4x (if you are taking only the 18 mg, not the 30/60). I'd also drop the fiber.
Odds of twinning are about 8% on Clomid. 1-3% without it.
As far as twins. Even if you get 2 follicles it doesn't mean you will get twins. DH and I would love twins. So when we saw we had 2 follicles we BD'd like bunnies and still only caught 1. If you are 100% against twins you may want to be monitored with follicle studies then skip cycles with more than 1 follicle, but even then there is always a chance for identical twins.

:agree: with this totally. I have seen many, many cycles where people had 2 follicles and didn't even conceive at all, let alone twins. I have even had some couples who had been TTC unsuccessfully for a long time, proceed with DTD even with 3-4 cycles (on doc's recommendation, not mine!!) and not conceive.
I conceived my boys naturally but one did take a year of trying. I will be starting my second round of clomid tonight (dose upped to 100 mg bc I did not ovulate on 50).
I feel your frustration Kell, it's hard to learn that things are not working like they used to be. Fingers crossed that clomid is just what we need ;)
Sigh....so I just talked to the NP at my OB/GYN's office. All of the blood work is normal. She said she wants to see what the u/s finds before making any further recommendations. She said there may be a fibroid or a polyp that she didn't feel and once she gets the u/s results she will contact me again and possibly have the doctor re-examine me. She didn't say anything either way about the clomid and I was afraid to appear too eager and ask for it.
Anyone have a similar experience? I don't understand how I can be bleeding literally every 2 weeks around the time where I would expect to be ovulating and the bloodwork is all normal but then again, I'm not sure what they were looking for either. Atomic - do you think clomid is still beneficial at this point? I just want things to be normal, I honestly don't even care about the clomid for sway purposes b/c I felt pretty good about my sway. The waiting game continues...my u/s is not until Wednesday. So I probably won't hear anything back again until Thursday or Friday.
I had a mass in my uterus that had to be removed via a hysterscopy and d&c. I was not conceiving and mentioned having a non-pregnancy ultrasound, that is when they found the mass. I had a miscarriage in May and was still not pregnant 6 months later so that was why I asked to be checked. Also I was bleeding really really heavily to the point that overnight pads were soaked in a few hours.
The ultrasound will hopefully tell you if you have a polyp or fibroid as those can cause heavy and irregular bleeding and keep the egg from implanting. Good luck
Bleeding every 2 weeks NEEDS to have more investigations though Kell. If you were to conceive and you do have a fibroid or polyp on your cervix then that could doom a pregnancy. Bleeding every couple weeks is not normal and they need to find out why it is happening.
Clomid is always beneficial. It only helps you get pregnant when things are going weird (especially the first month or two you take it)
Just wondering if anyone wants to share updated clomid experiences
1)Dosage
2)Days clomid is/was taken in your cycle
3)Outcome (i.e pregnant - w/ 1 or 2, still ttc etc.)
4)If pregnant, how many cycles did it take to conceive?
5)Reason for taking clomid (just for a sway, do not ovulate etc.)
I had to up my dose to 100mg this month as 50 did not lead to ovulation. I am now on cd11 and waiting to see what happens.
1)50mg
2)cd3-cd7
3)pregnant
4)first cycle
5)just for swaying
Septembers Cycle was my first on clomid - dh and I are on a TTC/swaying break until Dec/the new year, where we will resume clomid
1)
Septembers prescription was 50 mg given to me by my family Dr
I saw the OB two weeks later who says that he prefers 100 mg and so our future clomid cycles will be the 100 mg
2)
Days 3-7
3)
Still TTC - hopefully will hear TWINS!
4)
For swaying purposes: after TTC twin girls with vitex and doing lots of research I decided I wanted to try to get a prescription for clomid.
Mt: I'm sorry the 50 mg didn't work for you :( hopefully the 100 mg will be what your body needs to get your sticky pink bean
Thanks Honeybug. I am really hoping the 100 will work. It sure is getting discouraging as we have been ttc for quite a while.
DH and I joke about the clomid leading to twins, yikes I would love it but man would I be busy :)
Good luck when you resume ttc, hope you get twins like you are hoping for.
My Dr has prescribed clomid for me and I will be trying it this cycle, what seems to be the best tactic as far as DTD? do you try ever day leading up or do you try just once at positive opk? And does DH do anything with regards to FR or do we just leave that part of the swaying while we are trying clomid?
I have also been told to take it day 2-6, is that ok? I'm new to clomid so this is a learning curve for me and I want to do the best I can with it.
