Can you get a fish oil or probiotic?
Thank u Atomic! Is probiotic a supplement containing good bacteria? Should i take both fish oil and probiotic or both? Wich amount should I take a day? Do u think im getting enough of folic acid and vitamin D? I’ve noticed that some blue swayers take Guaifenesin? I’ve googled it and we have something here in Sweden that helps to dissolve the mucus from the airways and make it easier to cough up. Is it right? Should DH start taking fish oil as well? He takes multivitamins and vitamin D.
I weigh 125 lbs and am 65 inches long and I weighed as much when I conceived my daughter. How much do you think I should gain weight? Thank u for your time!
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Yes! It has the healthy bacteria that help digest your food and get more nutrients from it, and even make some nutrients for you.
Yes, you need both probiotic and fish oil, they're two totally different things.
Yes DH can take fish oil too.
What is the chemical name of the medication that is like guaifenesin?? there are some other similar medications that are ok, but others need to be avoided and I'll be able to check that for you.
3-5 lbs is a good weight gain.
Thank u Atomic. How do I know what amount of probotic and fish oil I should take each day? There are many different types of fish oil, which type do you recommend? The guaifensin we have in Sweden contains ethanol, glucose and sucrose, do u think thats right?
There is no set amount on probiotic.
Fish oil 500 mg a day, no more.
I don't recommend brand names. There are too many all around the world and I cannot keep up with them all.
Yes that's normal for guaifenesin syrups
Thank u som much Atomic. Should DH also take max 500 mg fish oil or can he take more? What do you think of protein powder? He drinks protein powder that contains casein. What do you think about quark? He eats that like every day. The guaifenesin we have in Sweden makes me a little nervous. It contains so much ethanol and it says that you have to consult a doctor if you are going to take it and plan to get children. Is it enough that I take it or must DH also take it? Thank you so much for your time Atomic !!

I prefer hubbies take 500 also. We used to do 1000 and since research indicates that may be enough to lower cholesterol (and in turn sex hormones, since they're made from cholesterol) I've dialed that back and I feel we've gotten better results since that time.
I prefer real foods to protein powder, but of the protein powders available, the casein/whey type is much better than soy.
Quark is also better than soy although again I prefer meat whenever possible.
Most medications say you should consult a doctor. CAn you get the kind that is a pill form?
Only you need to take the guaifenesin unless you have reason to believe that your husband has really thick, clumpy semen.
Thank u so much Atomic! It does not seem like we have guaifenesin in pill form, how does it differ from liquid form? Is it enough that I only take guaifenesin before ttc or do I have to start early with it just like the other vitamins? I wonder the same thing about probiotic, do I have to start early with it or is it enough that I start about 6 weeks before ttc? A very stupid question but how do I know if my husband has really thick, clumpy semen?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
It just has a different set of ingredients so if the ethanol was worrying you, pills don't have that.
It's not a big deal though. The liquid is fine.
Guaifenesin is only month that you are TTC, it's not like vitamins.
He probably doesn't have it, I'm not convinced many men do. It would just come out more like clumps and not so much liquid. (I honestly think this is probably not even a real thing)
Thanks Atomic! I've read somewhere that almonds sway pink, what do you think about that? Because I have started eating a lot of almonds as a snack. Is it good to drink fruit tea or does it sway pink? Is it better to drink regular black tea? Because green tea lowers my blood pressure. Is it bad if DH runs? He runs about one to two times a week for about 30-40 min
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
You can have almonds as a snack for boys. I regularly ate 1/2 cup almonds or walnuts every morning when I got my last two boys. The trick is that you must have more animal-based fats and proteins than vegetable based. So you can have almonds, but you ALSO need to be eating a good amount of animal based fats and proteins at the same time for your best chance at a boy. Getting more vegetable based fats than animal may sway pink.
Both green and black tea are great. Occasionally people notice that green tea messes up their cycle, but most don't have this effect. Have whichever you prefer.
Fruit teas are fine and we don't believe they sway, but be sure there are no herbs in them - especially licorice and peppermint.
DH running has been shown in studies to sway pink. If there's any way he can give that up for a while then that's great, if not, 1-2 times a week is sure better than daily!
Thank you very much Atomic! My husband eats a lot of dates, what do you think about that? Is it good for blue sway? Is it good to use coconut oil to fry instead of rapeseed oil? I read once that feeling defeated sway pink and I remember that I definitely had that feeling when I conceived our daughter. Do you have any advice on how to get rid of that feeling?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
I think dates are fine - it's the rare food that in and of itself sways strongly in a particular way.
Yes please use coconut oil instead of rapeseed oil (or butter/ghee/lard/schmaltz if you eat any of those things) Olive oil is better than rapeseed oil but may be less good than animal fats are.
Just try to do little things that make you feel successful - playing a video game, completing some little projects, marking things off your to do list - it doesn't have to be a massive effort, just little things really add up!
Thanks Atomic! I have a question about gaining weight. With my weight today I should gain 3-5 lbs but does it matter when I gain these pounds? Is it good to gain right now (im planing on ttc this fall) or just before ttc? What is best when it comes to Dh:s weight for blue sway? Is it good if he also gain weight or is it good if he is in good shape? Because I have noticed that many football players get boys and they are in good shape.
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
I would set out trying to hold steady on your weight. If a little weight comes on over time (and it will) then that's ok. I don't want you to quickly gain 5 lbs and then try to hold steady for another several months, that will be hard.
DH should stay where he is at, not gain or lose weight (unless he's overweight, in which case he can lose some, but not too much)
Thank u Atomic! Many today have started to use collagen for skin care. Do you have any experience with collagen and do you know if it has any impact on swaying?
I have read that cereal are good for blue sway. I wonder what kind of cereal are good? Whole grains? Fibers? Wheat?
I have started drinking tea every day, how many cups are recommended for blue sway? Can I drink tea with milk? Or is it better to drink the tea without milk?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
I haven't had enough people using it when swaying to know for sure. I really very much doubt anything we use on our skin sways.
Any kind of cereal you like that is healthy. AVOID things like rice krispies, corn flakes, and sugar cereals as they are pure carbs and burn off very quickly. Whole grain cereals are good.
Anywhere from 1-4 cups a day. Some have even more than that but if you haven't had it in the past I'd still with a small amount.
Fine to have tea with milk! I always had it that way and got 4 boys drinking tea.
Thanks Atomic! I need to gain 3-5 lbs for boy sway. Is it ok if the weight gain consists of muscles? Because I have started to notice that I have started to gain muscle because I go to the gym 2-4 times a week and lift weights. Or should weight gain consist of eating much larger amounts of food? I also wonder if dried fruit is good for blue sway? And does granola count as cereal?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Yes we WANT it to be at least partly, hopefully mostly muscle.
We eat more because we want the nutrients, not because we want to add fat. :agree: gaining weight in the form of muscle is ideal for blue.
Dried fruit is ok, but it's very very sugary. It's fine to eat sometimes but overall I think it is best to "spend" your calories on things that are really nutrient dense and are not just basically candy (dry fruit is so sweet, it is practically like eating candy!)
Granola is GREAT, especially when it has nuts!
Thank u so much Atomic! Do you have any good advice on how to increase your appetite? I feel that sometimes I have to force myself to eat, especially when I'm tired. It scares me a bit because I'm afraid it might ruin my blue sway. Then I wonder how I in the best way can eat more salt?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Don't worry about eating salt. The theory on salt never made any sense and we gave up on it and our results are higher than ever. Just eat to taste.
If you have a light appetite and can never eat as much as some other people, that is ok! The important thing is that you're eating more than you were! Don't compare yourself to other people, compare yourself to yourself!
Thank you Atomic. I have a question about folic acid. I read that you need to take 2000mcg folic acid per day for blue sway. According to the Swedish Medicines Agency, the recommendation is to take a maximum of 500 mcg per day. Isn't it dangerous with too much folic acid? I know that ur rekommendation her on GD is always safe so im just wondering. Another question is that my husband now takes medication for pollen allergy and will probably do so during the summer. Could it affect our blue sway if we want ttc in the fall? Thank you so much for your time Atomic !!

I conceived a baby boy with a neural tube defect taking 800 mcg a day plus eating a super healthy diet that had lots of additional folic acid in it. Many, many sources (including a lot of prenatal vitamin manufacturers and gynecological organizations) recommend 1000 in addition to a diet that has FA/folate in it. Some of the things people use for sways such as green tea may block folic acid (and indeed, I was drinking a very small amount of green tea when I conceived my son with the NTD). Excess sodium, herbal supplements (which people take against my wishes very often) and the things like baking soda drink, Ural, Alka Seltzer some people insist on using also block and cause excess excretion of folic acid and folate.
I have the blue sway recommendation for FA/folate set at that level to protect against any neural tube defects even with the green tea, high sodium, herbs, and other things people may ingest over my wishes. Also in case of twins, which may need that higher level of folic acid. Boys may even need somewhat more to begin with, since they need more of all nutrients. It just seems like a good idea to me and my research indicates it is fully safe if you take it as directed and wean off at the end of the first trimester.
Most of us who have baby with NTD are told to take 4000-5000 mcg with subsequent pregnancies. It is not believed harmful for anyone without the MTHFR mutation to take folic acid in this amount, and it is fine for everyone to take folate in that amount (so if you are worried about it, just use folate, it can't harm you.) during the first trimester. You will just urinate out any excess. After that point taking extra FA may be harmful but we have you wean off at that point to the amount in a prenatal.
Thank you so much Atomic for this explanation. How much gelatin juice can you drink per day for blue sway? Can I use gelatin powder from the Great Lakes brand that is from beef and not pork? Regarding 9 servings of fruit, must it be fruit or can it be vegetables too?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Yes the Great Lakes stuff is fantastic.
I wouldn't go overboard with the gelatin drink. 1-2 a day is plenty.
Yes it can be vegetables and we count juice, lemon water, coconut water as fruit/veg.
No it would be fine by then!!!
Thanks Atomic !! I have some questions about the personalized plan. How does it work? Will I answer some questions and then you make a plan for me? How long does it take before I get the plan? Will we have daily contact? Do I have to write you every day? When changes occur in my conditions, such as my weight, life situation, diet, exercise, will my plan be adjusted? I think I want to tcc sometime in October or November. I also wonder if there have been any results for the year 2018 on peoples sways?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Yes the personalized plans are made just for you based on some questionnaires. It usually takes me about 7-10 days to do a plan but I actually just finished all my outstanding plans today and could get one done right away. We have as little or as much contact as you want. I will almost always answer you within 24 hours (which is not always or even usualy the case in the free forums) and often more than one time in a day if need be. But you do not need to message me daily! Just whenever you want on your end.
Then I am your coach and I work with you as we go to change things based on weight, life situation, etc.
We are at 71% success rate for boys in 2018.
Thank you Atomic. I wonder if DHs sleeping position has any meaning? I have realized that my husband always sleeps on the stomach or on the side so that the area around his genitals is often pressed and of course warm during the night. Do you think this can ruin my blue sway? I have tried to talk to him that he should try to sleep more on his back, but he is not so compliant.
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
No I don't think that matters. People can't help the way they sleep and I think trying to make him do that will only disturb his sleep - which can sway pink. Let him rest in whatever position he feels comfortable, and if he's able to sleep nude or in baggy pants that's all you need to do.
Thank you Atomic. I stopped taking birth control pills in January and my period is getting more regular, but I am starting to lose a lot of blood during that time. Do I need to think more about what I eat when I have my period, bc I loose a lot of blood? Do I need to increase the intake of food / liquid when I have my period? I go to the gym when I have my period as well.
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
It's probably the fish oil. Skip another day between doses.
Thank you Atomic. I have now been a member of GD for a while and I get so much hope when I read about swaying and about everyone who succeeds in getting their DG, but then I see so many examples in real life where mothers who do not follow any he diet at all or have muscles or is healthy or takes any vitamins and yet they get boy after boy. For me it is so clear that it is always the personality that decides. By judging the personality of a woman I can immediately know if she has a boy or a girl, for those with a little more dominant personality, who is social and outgoing always have boys. This makes me disappointed and makes me want to give up and it remove the joy and hope within me that I find here at GD. May I ask you Atomic and please forgive me if you find it a rude question, but what makes you believe so much in swaying, when there are so many exceptions? Thank u for ur time
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
I promise it is not always the personality that decides. Personally, I see far more people for whom the physical stuff is true rather than the personality stuff. I'm not social or outgoing - if anything I've only become so because I started taking part in IG and Gender Dreaming - and I got my girl AFTER that.
There is also what the husband brings to the table, their frequency of intercourse, and sheer luck to consider. All these things play a part, as does their life history that you can't even see by looking at them.
I believe in swaying because firstly it makes sense that there would be some mechanism that could help select the gender of offspring that had the best shot to survive to pass down genes to future generations. Secondly, because both in studies and our results here, swaying seems to work. We have studies (good studies!) that show things like maternal diet, a woman's muscle mass, her BMI, smoking, jogging/biking for DH have different gender ratios. We have gotten the desired results for both pink and blue every year the site has existed and the odds of that happening if gender really was a coin flip are astronomical https://genderdreaming.com/forum/gen...-thoughts.html
Swaying is not 100% or close to it, but for those of us who have had 3,4,5 of the same gender already and know in our guts we are not going into conceiving with anything like a 50-50 chance, for me I would have happily taken the 50-50! Even if swaying could only get me to 50%, it was better than the 100% boys I'd had before, LOL. So you guys can't go into it expecting a guarantee, but it does help raise your chances or we'd not see the results we are seeing.
I'm not here to talk you into anything you don't want to do. If you don't believe in swaying, don't sway. But I believe in it and I'm happy to help anyone who wants my help, however I can. :)
Thank you so much Atomic! I understand that O-day is usually the day after a postive opk test. But when I do the opk test I get two days in a row that are positive, is the O-day the day after two days with positive opk tests? Do you get smiley face on O-day?
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Well, it's an average of 36 hours which is actually the SECOND day after the positive OPK.
You count time to O from the FIRST positive. So you will ovulate somewhere 12-48 hours after that first positive, and most will O about 1 1/2 days after the first.
Yes you can get a smiley face on O Day BUT whether or not the test goes negative does not tell you if you have ovulated or not. The positive OPK is just a signal your body sends to itself saying "hey, ovulate sometime soon" and then it decides when to do that based on several variables. So you can have a test go negative and not have ovulated yet, and you can also have a test that stays positive for days after O has occurred. The OPK only test for the signal hormone. They can't tell us if the egg was released or not, or when that happened.
Thank you Atomic. I have some thoughts again; 1. I understand that stress can sway pink and that it can be good to relax before tcc blue, but I work full time and have a girl and she is almost three years, so my life is quite stressful. Do you think it can affect my blue sway?
2. When it comes to weight, is it the weight gain itself that is good for blue sway or is it enough that I weigh between 3-5 lbs more than I weighed when I got my daughter? I mean, is it better to increase weight just before I ttc or is it just as good to have increased 3-5 lbs a few months before ttc and then keep that weight until ttc?
3. I started lifting weights about 7 months ago and I have noticed that I have got muscles, I increased the weights successively and today I lift 7-8 kg, can it be too much? or is it okay? How much cardio is needed? I usually walk 1km at a fast pace before I start lifting weights. Is it enough? I weigh about 126 lbs and have increased 2 lbs since I started training. Thanks for your time atomic!
Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
No I don't think it can affect your sway. Everyone has stress (and I constantly get questions from PINK swayers tellling me how they are sure all their stress will ruin their sway!) Please don't stress about stress, everyday stress is not the kind of stress that sways.
We don't know if the timing of weight gain matters. Just gain a little weight preferably in the form of muscle if you can, whenever it happens. Trying to time it only adds stress to the equation anyway.
There is no such thing as too much in the weight department. That's great!!
126 is still fairly thin, I'd keep cardio to 30 min. a day 3x a week unless you see big gains.
