Thanks ladies.....sorry I have been away for Spring Break! Thanks for the support.....I hope I do have a girl in there too!!! Good luck ashkash.......how many follicles did you have at time of IUI???? I am scared for twins......but there is a chance!! My doctor did do it late after the trigger.....I was scared that it was too late because I had a trigger at 5:15PM Sat then IUI Monday 11:15 am.....so like 42 hrs later. But I saw the follicles.....one big that hadn't dropped yet so that likely matured later than the rest and 2 that had dropped....one was flat and the other was almost flat or "caved". Twins....that scares me!! The last 3 days, I have been feeling yucky!!! I am only 9dpo but I swear at 5dpo I wiped blood and now since then have had a NON stop headache and my stomach feels empty and I just have that pregnancy feel. I dont know....maybe its in my head!!! I am really nervous now!! I wont test yet>>>>>

No BFP for me! I am in disbelief!! I have had 5 babies....natural with no iui or drugs!!! This sucks!! I had 6 follicles....3 at time of IUI, 2 collapsing....everything looked so good. I have one more shot at this and thats it!! I know the spinning of the sperm isn't harsh....my dh had 103 million after wash for a girl!! So it must of been me.....my eggs probably werent good. I am so sad!! I need a different approach. Maybe no drugs this time....natural or maybe up the drugs.....I don't know. Any suggestions??? I just stopped my progesterone.....so hopefully my period will come soon!!!! I really didn't want to do this again!!! Thought this would have worked!! I cannot believe this.....WOW.!! Total shock!!!! I was more worried about twins!! I had symptoms that must of been from PROGESTERONE!!! This is nuts!! My hubby even had 103 million after wash for a girl!!! Its totally me.......wow....maybe my body couldn't take the drugs????? This is a sad day as some of you ladies already know!! I need to just move on.......one last try!! I'm so sorry you didn't get a BFP. I don't know what else you could change, I really know nothing about drugs or IUIs. I definitely would not give up though. Even the most fertile people in the world don't always get a BFP the first month. Hugs :HH:

Thank you.....I know, its just so sad....all the hard work!! I have never had to go through this!! I couldn't imagine the ladies that have this trouble and have no babies. My heart goes out to them sooooooooo much!! This is tough! I only am doing all this for a girl.....which is not even a guarenteed!!! I was thinking that I might do the wash, then IUI and trigger shot after. I hear there is better results....although my dr. said doing IUI on the later end of O is better for a girl. I was thinking that a few days earlier to better chance in getting pregnant and then go by the theory of girls are slower, boys are faster...... I don't know!! Anyone want to give me a suggestion????

Oh wow! So sorry 5GB! Maybe natural is the way?? As I don't know your history, have you done at home swaying before and it hasn't "worked"? I'm assuming so... is there a method or combination you haven't tried? Either way, if the next IUI doesn't work (which it probably would!) you could always return to the natural methods AS recommends.. :bigsmile:

Oh and I would recommend earlier. If you're doing a wash, timing shouldn't effect it towards blue anyway surely?

IUI's have a low chance at working. Did you ask the stats? Ashkash tried 4 times before she got her BFP recently. Most MS/IUIs took multiple tries. It's probably a combination of things but your fertility may not have anything to do with it.

Clomid and IUI success rates are about 10% per month for women under 35 if the tubes are open by a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and semen analysis is normal.

This statistic holds true for about 3 cycles - after that it is significantly lower

With injectables, in women under 35 with open tubes, no endometriosis, and a male with normal semen, the success rate with injectables and IUI is about 15% per month (up to 3 tries).

Those stats are from Advanced Fertility.

So, it is just hard to get pregnant with an IUI and you should count on 3 cycles to find success. I would have hoped they discussed this with you so you had some idea going in what you are facing. Is it still a little early? How many dpo are you?

That is why atomic was upset with the timing part. IUI is hard enough, then you try and mess with the timing where your eggs that did ovulate may have already expired and they just made it that much harder. I get trying to do the best sway but the study with the O+12 is based upon 33 women. That's not really a solid statistic.

You can find success with your next attempt if this one is a bust. I would not want more follicles than 2 because you could end up with a dangerous higher order pregnancy(Jon & Kate style) and that would be a disaster.

Well spoke to my doctor......and next cycle no drugs at all and no trigger!! The timing was perfect and my eggs were not expired nuthinbutpink. My dr did an ultrasound at time of IUI and if I had ovulated already then she would have known. I just talked to her about everything. Using clomid and trigger may have been the culprit. My husbands semen analysis was great....I mean at IUI after wash he had 103 MILLION. I had an HSG done a month before my IUI and my tubes are wide open!!! Yes, the clinic went over stats but I am not infertile and even the doctor was shocked and actually said to me she was a little concerned I was going to have twins!!! So this is a shock!! And as far as Atomic....she is not my doctor nor does she know my history!! If she wants to give me advice on diet and her research in that area then that's fine, but as far as an iui timing and what went on in my particular case, she has really no knowledge in that area. I have always gotten pregnant first month with all my kids!! So, this is crazy to me!! I knew there was a chance but really didn't think it would happen. Anyhow, going to really do diet hard next couple weeks!! Any suggestions ladies!! What to eat I mean???? Give me a menu...the hardest sway possible. I just worry that I am only 105lbs and I don't want to drop too much weight which could prevent me from getting pregnant. Is there anything I can eat that is not so hard core???? I do exercise a lot.....suggestions on that??? I do kickboxing, zumba, step, spin all week long. Can you recommend what I should do as far as that????

If you have read on the HT forums, IUI is just not that easy to get pregnant with. We are all fertile. Everyone that did a MS/IUI was fertile. Ashkash is fertile. IVF doesn't work the first time either and we are all fertile.

The IUI/IVF world is just different. It's not natural and it is harder to get pregnant that way. You had said previously that you had already ovulated and there is no way to know when and how long it had been since. You never said the sizes of the follicles that you had so it is hard to know how many may have been mature.

If you choose to go natural, you will have to catch the one egg and timing will be critical. Perhaps an IUI 24 hours after surge and 36 hours after surge? A HT user just did this on the HT forum and she is in the 2WW.

Nuthinbutpink.....IUI/MS verses IUI with a wash are two different things. Doing MS in general is very, very harsh on the sperm.....that is why the pregnancy rate is so low...not the IUI part. IUI is still way more natural than any fertility out there. Comparing it to IVF, well, that's like comparing Apples and oranges. IVF is a very unnatural process. You are taking the eggs out, fertilizing them and then putting them back in hopes that they stick in there. Very different than an IUI. With IUI the sperm still meets the egg in the uterus and goes into the fallopian tubes and so on. Very different. Spinning for a girl....not harsh at all. Infertile woman get sperm washing before IUI all the time and get pregnant. I thought I had a GREAT chance at getting pregnant being that I have had 5 LIVE births, no complications or Miscarriages in my life. The doctor even thought it was going to work. But, it does happen.....I get it. Now its time to move on. I guess my doctor feels that I do ok on my own getting pregnant.....I mean I just had a baby 17 months ago, my body should know the mode!!! My doctor is going to do the same timing.......she said timing was not a factor at all. I was ovulating and I caught the surge. Must of been egg quality. Or she did tell me to test in a few days if I have not had my period yet.....late implantation. She did mention that sometimes IUI's can implant late. But, I am not holding out for that!! I will just do it again. I am so scared to do the drugs again because I responded so well. If we upped them then my chances of canceling are higher as well as multiples. I just don't know what to do anymore. Do I do the same thing....50mg clomid and trigger shot or do natural as the doctor suggested with me doing OPKs and then when I get a positive go in the next day or so and just do the wash???? That's what is so so funny hopingforsaskia.....I did sway hard last time...with EGS and put my dh's sperm in a Diva cup and got pregnant. Here my doctor did an IUI and went to the opening which took longer to inseminate and I didn't get pregnant!! Wow....so crazy!! Why does getting a daughter have to be this hard. I know I am blessed with five health boys.....is it too much for me to want a daughter too. This wasn't even 100% either....I was gambling a bit. I have never had a problem getting pregnant ever. No miscarriages or anything.

Yes, I know you are aware of that!! I see nothing wrong with it....I just really can't put my family out that much you know! Now my husband said today...."can you imagine if we spent 20,000 and not get pregnant". It would stink yes, but I would have taken the gamble with that too!!

I think in your position I'd stick with the sperm sorting and try and get the swimmers in there before OV happens so that the sperm will be in the right place at the right time, ready to catch the egg when it pops out - that way the odds of pink AND pregnancy would be in your favour too

I BEG you in the name of all that is good and holy, DO NOT try and sway while going HT. It will not gain you anything. With IUI you bypass the entire reproductive tract and deposit sperm right at the egg. You are skipping everything that might sway. There are a couple theories out there that claim the egg gets "primed" to receive X or Y sperm but a) there's no good data proving that and b) in order for the egg to be "primed" you'd have to do diet for a full 90 days because that's the amount of time an egg goes from a tiny seed to a fully developed and ready to fertilize egg. To try and do diet NOW only will reduce your fertility and possibly prevent you from ovulating, and it will also deplete your body of needed nutrients that can help sustain a healthy pregnancy. Please don't try to do diet.

The entire POINT of sperm spinning + IUI is that you don't have to sway. The sperm spinning has done the swaying FOR you. Getting pg with IUI under ideal circumstances is hard enough

I am a little confused because in your earlier statements you said that your doctor inseminated you at O+12. Now you're saying that your eggs had not been ovulated which is GOOD timing for IUI. I'm not sure where the truth lies, but my advice would be for you to call some other doctors not affiliated with your clinic, or post a question to Dr. Sher or Dr. Potter or Dr. Saleh (I believe they all accept questions on their sites and Dr. P answers q's here on Gender Dreaming) and ask THEM what the ideal timing for IUI is and why. My advice on when to time IUI is not something I'm making up, it's just the standard timing for IUI. If you don't want to call/ask them, then do a Google search and you can read for yourself.

To answer your earlier question, yes, I AM saying that O+12 doesn't sway. Like I said before, this is not an IG clone site and some of the advice I give is different but we are getting equally good if not better results. But it doesn't matter whether or not you or I or anyone thinks O+12 sways. The thing is, when you do IUI, you bypass your entire reproductive tract anyway. The reason why O+12 is supposed to sway has NOTHING to do with the egg itself, it has to do with your CM drying up after ovulation. When you do IUI you are bypassing your cervix and cervical mucus all together. It is POINTLESS because the sperm are not even going to be in your cervix, they'll be deposited right into your uterus.

IUI at O+12 does not gain you anything other than lower chance of pregnancy. Firstly because many women's eggs do not live much past 12 hours after ovulation (and the older we get, the more true this is.) and they're at the outer limit of their quality even if alive. Secondly because you are bypassing the part of O+12 that even sways to begin with. And thirdly because after sperm are spun, they're often kind of tired and may not have the speed it takes to find/fertilize the egg very quickly, which they have to be able to do at O+12 because the egg. If you're now saying that you are NOT doing IUI at O+12 then this entire argument is moot and please disregard.

The odds of pg even with straight IUI are not as good as natural conception either. The more follicles you have, the better your odds, so I am a bit concerned about the "let's drop the drugs" plan because that seems like a step in the wrong direction. Even 20 year olds only have 20-30% odds of getting pg naturally and their egg quality is fine. I also think the trigger shot is a good idea to make sure that the IUI is timed correctly.

Did they check FSH and AMH before beginning this process?? Clomid may not be the best drug for you and there are other options that may be better for egg quality (altho I doubt that's what went wrong.)

I believe you do need SOMETHING to ensure you have more than one follicle or you are wasting $$. You WANT 3-4 follicles for IUI. That's what they're going for.

Sperm washing is NOT the same thing at all as sperm spinning. Very different things with very different effects on the swimmers.

And to answer a question from an earlier post, no, sperm spinning is NOT 100%.

Atomic.....I thank you for your input....I really do BUT I wish you would quit acting like you know everything please. You keep basically calling me a liar about MY CYCYLE and what I have said or did!!! I did do my IUI at the END OF OVULATION!!! I was OVULATING because my doctor did an ultrasound at the time of IUI and said the timing was exactly what we wanted....the END OF O. Last 12 hours of O!!!!! She knows that from measurements and the follicles that had collapsed and everything else that she looked at!!!! I had 3 follicles at the time of IUI 1 still pretty big but starting to collapse and 2 that collapsed and were waiting. With the spinning the sperm only live 24hrs so you cannot do it days before....they will be DEAD!!! So instead of doing the IUI at the beginning of O, we did it at the end but I was still Oing!!!! That is why this is a shock!! Yes, I know sperm spinning is different than a wash and my doctor has been doing this a long time and said there is not any concern for the sperm....microsort on the other hand is very very very harsh on the sperm. Maybe you are not familiar with the method I did that's why....I don't know. This is not the Erickson method and even that is not harsh on sperm. My dh's sperm count was 103 MILLION AFTER THE spinning!!!! So I think they came out fine. As far as the follicles I had....I did have 5-6 (the 6th one was really little)4 days before IUI, which my doctor said that we want between 3-5. The day of IUI I had 3 follicles which my doctor said was perfect for me!! In fact my doctor is shocked and was worried I was going to have twins. I understand the whole diet thing....which I have been on for a while and it does help even though the IUI gets "almost to the opening to where the egg is". But, I have been doing all my swaying for a long time already. I was just adding that maybe I could do something that I am not doing already. Actually the embryologist was the one who said that there is a link with calcium/mag supps with XX sperm. We talked in great lengths about it as well as baby aspirin that I have been on for a year now. There is a correlation and I have even read up on it as well. My problem is the drugs.....I think my eggs weren't good because of it. My doctor says a more natural approach may be better being as I have never had a problem getting pregnant and have never had a miscarriage. My lining was great....my fsh levels and estradiol was great......HSG test showed tubes are clear (Just really long tubes I have). So, maybe the stimulating messed with me. Instead of throwing this at me thinking you know it all....maybe you could help me. Maybe you could say "hey, why dont you do this to help". "ask your doctor this and that". "Consider this maybe". But when you come at me like you know it all and make comments like "I beg you in the name of all that is good and holy". I mean really.....that is not helpful at all. I really need opinions and ladies who either genuinely want to help or just don't know what to say except good luck. This is hard enough for me right now. I am in such conflict with this and this is my last chance. I have had so many chances to try for a girl. She IS trying to help. She was being constructive. You just do not understand the IUI world. Count doesn't matter as much as motility and mobility do. Spinning reduces that. Your odds will be lower with one follicle. You need to know that. That is what she is trying to tell you. It's obvious you are pissed at her and at this point I don't think we can help.

I've been living HT for 4 years. I know a little about it at this point and I too was trying to help. I don't think you want to hear what we have to say at this point.

Your "sway" comes down to how effective their spinning is. So, try natural with the one follicle and hopefully they will catch the egg this time.

I have to be honest your being very defensive against anything atomic or anyone else says that you dont want to hear. Maybe you should re read all the helpful advice both atomic and nutinbutpink HAVE given you again. You seem to be reading what simply is not there? I mean that in the nicest way possible.xx

And nearly ALL of the HT women can empathize with you about being very fertile and having this not work. I was 33 with 3 kids conceived first month and then told HT won't work for me because I had bad ovaries. I had a 6 month old! No matter how many times you read it, we assume that won't be me and it will work for me the first time. It usually doesn't. But many find success when they try again and you can too.

You know it's not me reading "what I want to read" and thinking I am being attacked. I have had ladies message me stating they have had problems like I am having. Atomic I am not pissed at Nuthinbutpink......She just think she knows it all!! First off, I know about the IUI world, thank you and secondly My dh's motility was great after the wash!!!! My doctor gave me all the numbers and is in shock as well. I don't think the help is constructive at all and frankly, I am going to listen to the ladies who have nicely sent me a message. Sorry but I have been kicked down now....when it happens to YOU then you can make that assessment!! That is how I feel. I do not doubt she tries to help others with swaying and gives her opinion but she did not do that with me IMO!!! You see it how you see it but it's not you it's happening to! Atomic gives up an incredible amount of time to help us all. I've been wanting a girl since my first son was born 24 years ago. This is the first site I've ever been to that is so completely supportive.

Thank you Pebmco6.......I hope so too!!! I wish I could do it before O, but my doctor told me that after spinning the sperm they only live for about 24 hours. I initially asked if I could do the IUI when I get a positive surge, then trigger after since I heard some other women doing that. But, my doctor said that the sperm from spinning wouldn't survive by time of O. I have my doctors private email, which I just emailed her with some MORE questions so I am just going to see what is said. I think the natural cycle may be better however, I don't know if the clomid messed me up in any way. The doctor said my lining was great so I would think that is what would have been a problem but I was on progesterone, so I think it's all ok. I just wish my period would get here already!!!!!!

how many dpo are you now? what sensitivity test did you use?

I am 15dpo today. I took at test yesterday and BFN. My period is probably delayed because of progesterone, so I am just waiting. I guess some women get their periods on progesterone anyways and some it delays. My doctor said I should get it in 3-4 days after stopping it. If I don't I need to re-test because sometimes late implantation can happen with IUI's. I am not holding out for that though. I did tell my doctor around 12 dpo/iui I had cramps all day...a lot and thought I was going to get my period. The next day and up until now, I don't have them. I am bloated though, so af must be coming!!! I have no cramps though. Had cramps after iui for a few days and then again started at 11 days and really had cramps at 12 days and now nothing really. Weird! Oh and at 5 dpo I had a little peach discharge when I wiped (thought it was implantation bleeding but I guess not). So bizarre......oh well, up and onward!!!
