ITA with all of this 100%. Keep us posted Jane! Timing gets beat into our heads (well, not so much here, but y'know...) and I think from Shettles, etc people have it as a sacred swaying cow that can't be touched. The ONLY thing I would ever consider with timing is if you know what you did to TTC your girls, maybe don't do that again, since maybe for you personally that pattern sways girl. That said while neither of my girls were planned I'm 98% sure their BD patterns were totally different, so I didn't feel like timing was a huge part of my getting girls. Diet, diet, diet, I think!
Have a lovely time Lola!
Thanks for the tip about protein Iluv! I thought of you this am as I was sipping a (decaf) frapp. But then it got too sweet and I had to toss 1/2. I hate the weird things pg does taste-wise. I told my oldest, dearest friend this weekend since I got to see her (she has had 4 kiddos, though her youngest passed away earlier this year) and we were laughing about all the crazy things pg will make you eat. She loved those Totino's pizza rolls with her 1st pg and was telling me about them, and now I can't get them out of my mind, LOL. I'm so glad your docs are taking good care of you and getting you in early and often. Are you feeling OK physically so far, or any signs of sickness creeping in?Interesting about the hormone levels; I knew a bit about it but not that much, so that was really interesting. I'm curious to know mine.
Layla the discharge was a definite sign for me of this pg. I still have it. I tend to get some, even still EW, in the day or two after O. But it just kept coming in my 2WW. I'm SO ready for it to stop, LOL! I hope it is a sign for you too!
Daisy FWIW I got my BFP 10DPO but only on a FRER. I tried taking the digi at 11 DPO and it came up negative ... I was taking it to show DH and he was like, see?!?! You're not pg!! The digi only came up for me as positive at 12 DPO, with FMU. So you're not out for sure IMO! Happy bday to your DH!
thanx:happy:
still not had a smiley yet and ive been testing for 4 days!! :shrug:today im feeling like i have some ewcm though. i did a fmu test(which i think is ok with clearblue) but nothing. i think i will test every 4 hours today but go ahead and dtd later on cos it will be 5 days tonight since dh released.:nails: i know when we had our dds, we were dtd all the time so im trying this way to see if it helps. this is so annoying, i dont know how im gonna do this over and over like some have to, i really feel for those who keep trying every month. had my breakfast this morning or should i say ive forced food down me at an unearthly hour:mad:oh well, ive had my grumble, sorry to be so depressing x
Daisy I really don't think you are out yet. It depends on the hcg levels for some people they start off slow and then they increase rapidly others are higher to start off with and then just follow the slower pattern in iluv's stats.
Begonia I do hope you are right. If I am pg then I will have you and iluv to thank for it the most for guiding me through the opk testing and replying to me so quickly.
Jane I know how you feel I found the whole when to dtd and when to release so stressful. I think if I am pregnant we may have gone a bit too early but with 48hr release so will see.
I keep thinking I will be better off with another girl. I really have an attitude of girls are better than boys for mum anyway. Do you know that saying: "A son is a son until he obtains a wife a daughter is a daughter for life." Don't you all think it is true? That is why I always feel so sorry for mums with no girls and really wish for them from the bottom of my heart, that they get at least one girl. But other people feel sorry for me for not having a boy. Boy mums with mixed gender kids always agree that the saying is true but they say that boys are really good for mums until they obtain their wife. They adore their mums unequivically, while girls tend to be more judgmental. They keep mum grounded that is for sure.
Anywho enough of my philosopying for this week I think must go and get myself distracted...
Hey ttc boy friends, I haven't been on here in a while, but here's a little update. We have been staying on the diet for four months now, and every time it's 'the night' either my hubs is gone, or we get a bfn. My temps are nuts, so it's hard to know for sure. I got an OPK + at CD 16 but had clear cm for three days so I don't know. I never have a 'real' positive on anything except the digital. Does anyone use a fertility monitor? With my DD2, I got the OPK+ and bd'd 12 hours later so I'm really having to trust that God will fulfill the desire he's placed into DH's heart. He's always wanted a boy. We discussed IVF today, and just can't bring ourselves to spend that kind of ca$h...yet.
Hey girls!
I'm 3dpo and got my crosshairs from FF today! yay! Having some creamy cm and feeling kinda tired. That's it so far!
Daisy-the digis aren't as sensitive as the FRER, get one of those!
yay! i got my +opk!!!!!!!!!!!! hubby still at work so we'll be getting straight into it as soon as he gets home:giggle: it will be just under 5 days since he released so i hope its ok. just to refresh,it is 12 hours after +opk that we should dtd? or round about?
Yes, Jane 12-18 hours after the first OPK +
im just wondering if its ok to dtd later on (cos he needs to release after 5 days of waiting),then dtd tomorrow which im quite sure i will ovulate on,otherwise it may be too early today...what do you think?how long does it take for sperm to regenerate?
Layla, I think that bit about daughters rings true in my life. At least I know way more women who help their parents and connect with them and stay close etc. than men. And a lot of women (my mil!) complain about their sons not staying close enough to them, calling them and all that. Fwiw, I desperately wanted a girl first and in a perfect world, I would have a boy and another girl. I know about five women who have had baby boys in the past two years, all first babies, and every one of them wanted a girl. So yes, I do want to have a boy for my husband, but I am so, so thankful I got my girl.
Jane, if your DH doesn't have sperm issues, you could probably dtd 24-36 hours apart and have it be okay.
thanx. i why is it that we dont do frequent dtd for blue cos ive read somewhere that if you hold off for a few days, the sperm gets weaker etc, also men always have sperm ready so i would have thought the more you release, the more you would get blue.then again,we had 3 girls dtd all the time.....aaaaaargh! my dh has been on sperm supps for a few months now so hoping they've given him a boost ;-)
does anyone know if its ok to dtd less than 24 hours apart for a boy? just wondered if we should dtd later then dtd tomorrow too, because thats when my o day usually is.....why do all these questions come when its just about to happen!!!:hair:
Hi Girls... can i join too? 3rd month of TTC.. currently on CD6..
hope.ful I hope this is your month! I don't use a fertility monitor. Do you temp or just use OPK's? If you've already had a DD by BD after +OPK then IMO I really wouldn't fret about timing this out. I'm not sure why the studies re: DTD 1x on O day carry so much weight; I know for a fact there are studies that say boys are more likely DTD 2 days prior to O and GIRLS are more likely on O day. Which is why I go back to thinking timing doesn't sway, because there are loads of studies, and they all conflict.
Jane, yes, BD 12-24 hours after the +OPK. Frequent release is meant to sway girl as it lowers count. That said I was just reading the thread in the general forum re: timing for a girl, and a poster mentioned a study by an IVF doc who has his male patients release every day, believing that fresh sperm is better quality, even if it is lower count. And he has 53% achieving boys and 47% girls on that method. Again ... studies on timing are just all over the map.
All I know for sure is you have to BD to get pregnant and you have to get pregnant to get your DG. So get to it ladies!
Layla how many DPO are you these days? I've heard the same re: sons/daughters ... but I don't know, I think it all depends on the relationship and the environment they are raised in. DH is super close to his mom and talks to her even more than his dad. I am not that close to my mom and she was definitely not close to hers. Which is part of the reason I wanted sons; I just don't see the mother/daughter relationship as a close and loving one. That said I am raising my girls much differently than I was raised, so here's hoping the end result is better for all of us!
FX for you Alexis!
Welcome KSN!
Daisy when will you test again?
Wow....great to hear abt the good results Lola and Illuv....
ttc5 are u keeping up the diet in the break?
Welcome WP...2TX and all the newcomers
begonia, i am still on the diet...lightly though not too strict......and did have pizza etc in the 2ww....
DH takes a break in the 2ww.....
So AF came sat morn....now i am trying to see the time i actually ovulate in retrospec.....i had EWCM 2 days after O too.
But last attempt we did it before and after +ve opk......maybe in was not our month.
Anyways back with a new start...
Lately i have decided of not letting myself feel down.....just go on with life.....try to incorporate as much diet as possible and not fret too much. I trust that God will grant my wish someday soon...its only a matter of time....PATIENCEEEEEe..
By the way, ladies, I will add my SIL just found out she's having a boy (not a big surprise bc her hubby is one of 4 boys) but they are dairy farmers (and drink milk constantly) and they have a slew of boys, so I'd say the milk thing is out the window...just a thought!
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It is so nice to have company during such an experiment :)
iluv : I am so happy for you that all your tests are coming back well. I had 2 mc inbetween our boys. There was no explaination. And since we already had 2 children.....they just kind of said it was bad luck. Anyway we went on to have several more healthy children. It was very hard and painful at the time, but I have had several people come to me afterwards that needed support and I don't think I would have been able to help them as much if we didn't go threw that hard time. There is some things we will just never know the anwers to. I know you are going to have a great 9 months....I can't wait until you find out the gender.
Okay......I guess I put my sway here? Sorry if I put it in the wrong spot....
My supplements...
Folic Acid
Fish Oil
Iron
Potassium
I know there is one more, I will have to go check later.
DH supplements...
Fish Oil
Zinc
L ang
Potassium
Diet....
We are both eating more red meat (beef and vension), potatoes, salt, and bananas but we are still eating full fat dairy. Not as much as I could. I guess I am just limiting it more....less butter, sour cream, milk, cottage cheese, ect.
My snacks are gelatin made with orange juice, nuts, dried fruit, boiled eggs, lanna bars, bananas, oranges, cherry tomatoes (we have lots of these from our farm) and avacodos. I am not eating any sugar, but DH just can not handle even cutting that back.
Drinks... Tomato juice with salt and a tad of Stevia, Green tea, tons of lemon water, and coconut water.
This is our first attempt at a sway. I find it pretty hard to eat different with all the children wanting to know whats going on and why they can't have my candy bars (lanna bar) and all my "special food". Hubby just keeps telling the kids that Mommy's potassium is low and I have to eat different for a few months....too funny.
I am 3 DPO.
Has anyone ever had problems taking their temp too early in the morning? I have my alarm set for 4-5am and for the past 3 days it has been 96.6 BUT when I retemp at 7-8am it has been 97.2 all 3 days.
Oh, and yes it is very, very busy here.....especially this time of the year (when all the veggies and such are coming in). We also have dairy goats that hubby milks.
I like your perspective Cemas. I think you're right to trust that it will happen for you, and I really hope it will happen soon ... what a fun announcement that BFP will be.
WP, that sway looks great! Too funny about DH's reply to the kiddo's questions! I think you mentioned you already have 2 boys. Did you do anything differently that you remember with them? Just curious; I know several of the gals on here who have boys and girls swayed for the boys they already have.
Which reminds me... I miss MFC! I hope she comes back.
hope.ful I'm in with full-fat dairy for a boy sway ... I think most of us here are. It seems like one of those things that research and anecdotal evidence don't seem to support. Atomic's part 3 calcium conundrum essay that she posted recently is great, I think!
Jane, the old swaying methods (mostly IG stuff) is so engrained in our brains, especially about timing and such....that you cannot dtd less than 48 hours apart, and even that is bad. Also that you should do it one time. Which makes your chance of getting pg go down the tubes since you may miss your egg entirely. BUT- this is the truth: sperm take 72 days or so to mature/grow....they replenish their supply quickly. In men with no known sperm issues, 24 hours is perfectly fine to replenish. In fact, I read an article (that was affiliated with a study) about it being BETTER for men to release every day, upping their sperm counts and their sperm's quality, as they turn over and have less time to be in the balls and get hot/old/toxified. And, there are zillions of boys who have been conceived dtd more than once a day, I promise. So, if it were me, I would try to have 24 hours apart, at the least, but if you can't, don't sweat it. If I were going to dtd every day, I would just make sure that my DH ate a bunch of protein and healthy foods during that period, that he kept his balls free of trauma and heat, and that he was taking vitamins and such to make healthy high sperm counts.
Hooray for crosshairs! FX this is your month, Alexis! By the way, saw on another thread you are a southern gal yourself! I'm in SC, and it is hot as balls here. I can barely stand it. And of course, everyone wants to go swimming and to the lake and stuff, and I am SO NOT a big fan of being in a swimsuit right now! LOL
Daisy, I totally agree about the digis....I use internet cheapie opks or I buy FRER ones from the store. I also ONLY use FRER hpts (First Response Early Result). They are by far the most accurate and don't give false positives.
Just was looking around on IG, I go check the old threads to see if any of our MIA ladies pop on ... and Frogs and Snails had her baby boy yesterday! She had waited for a delivery room surprise and apparently that worked out very well for them :-) Just thought I'd update that another CBBC member had a successful sway!
AND ... given all our timing talk lately I will add that she BD 2x ... at O-1 and O day.
WP, you have a farm? AWESOME!!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a farm! Your diet sounds good. Just remember to eat protein and carbs together at every snack and meal, which it looks like you are doing pretty well. Just high everything! Do you remember how you were eating when you had your sons?
Also, why are you taking iron? Are you aenemic (sorry- spelling!)? If you are eating more red meat and greens, you likely are upping your iron pretty significantly, so if you feel that you are constipated, you are getting too much. I don't know a ton about iron and swaying, but I guess it's ok since increasing foods that contain iron are recommended. Maybe post for Atomic Sagebrush to answer in the TTC Boy forum. (I think you have probably gathered that she is our sway mod here and a ttc boy master!)
About the temps- your temp rises after you start to stir in the morning. So, if you temp right when you first wake up, literally no moving but your arm to grab thermomater and put in mouth, then you will get an accurate basal body temp. If you sleep some more and temp again, you are likely to have a higher temp from your body systems being awake and all. I would rely on your earlier ones. You must temp immediately when you wake up. I find that if I take my temp but I've been awake for a bit, even if I'm not tossing and turning, just half-awake, that they are a bit higher. I gave up temping a while ago, as it was too stressful for me for that reason, but I am trying it again this month. I have no idea why, but I just felt like I wanted to try it again! I don't think it matters if it is too early....I think you just want to have been in a "resting" state for at least 6 hours or something like that. If you don't normally get up till 7 or 8am, I would just do it then and not wake yourself up so early for nothing.
Good luck, and glad to have you here!!!!
I know, CBBC did well! I'm going to see who all I can remember ... you add to it if you think of another... but here's who I'm remembering at my 1st try:
WLM: Boy
Wantasonbun: Girl
Maz: Boy (at least going by the last u/s...I keep checking hoping she'll post too, like frogs!)
Frogs: Boy
Dolly: Boy
HOE: Girl
Aqua: Boy
Nutter: Boy
OTW: Girl
HAS321: Boy
So that is 10 total, with 3 girls and 7 boys... a pretty great turn-out I think! Am I missing anyone?
Nice memory, B! Not that I can think of.....jeez, Wantasonbun really dropped off after she found out another girl. She was a riot. I just popped on IG since you were talking about it.....seems like there are a lot of successful sways- both blue and pink- in the last year!
Hey Cemas, sorry you are having to go through this game for so long also. You have a good attitude, though, just keep on truckin'!
OK, weird thing with me: have LOTS of cm now with the Clomid! Pleasantly surprised!
I know, she was hilarious! ... and she had a rockstar sway, too. I remember feeling sad for her bc she was really pretty bummed about DD#2. HOE was much more upbeat about it. Either way I hope they are both doing well.
I do like checking out the sways there since there is so much more of a history! It's always very girl-heavy though. Funny how it's supposed to be so much easier to make boys and yet here we all sit just working away at it. I keep reading that less fertile people make girls but I just don't think that applies to DH and me... how would "less fertile" people get pg on BCP's?!?! LOL!
Awesome on the CM Lola!!!! Maybe it's all the good stuff you're doing counteracting it? What CD are you now? FX that Clomid and lovely CM does the trick this month!
Okay, what did I eat when trying for my boys. Funny things is.....we did "try" for both of them.
DS1: I read about Shettles method (timing) in a magazine and gave it a try. I have anyways been a healthy person, so I was eating sardines with crackers (has calcium) and lots of vension(trying to use up extra meat before hunting season). I don't remember tons about what I was eating, but we were on vacation, so I was eating seafood too.....he is 9 now. Oh, AND he was conceived in......JULY!!!! I wasn't temping yet, but used my first OPK to predict O.
DS2: I had 2 mc that year and was temping and eating different things to up my fertility. I was trying green tea for the first time for EWCM, it did work. Oh and high levels of Folic Acid and had gained weight because of the miscarriages. And pretty much the same as DS1...except the seafood. Conceived in February...he is 6 now.
Honestly, not a whole lot changed in my diet between the girls and boys, but I do think it had a lot to do with quantity. My birth order goes GBBGGG. So, being busy with children and homeschooling I find my self hungry because I am not taking time for myself. Even now I catch myself saying "Oh no, I'm hungry again". I grab a handful of nuts and fruit and run to the laundry room before I am spotted. I eat a lot at meals, but inbetween is a problem. Today I had a boiled egg and OJ while I was cooking lunch. Have cut out sugar though, which I did eat with all the girls (and boys)....maybe it will make a difference.
As far as the iron: I am still nursing DD once a day and I am normally borderline anemic while nursing. I might be able to cut that out of the line-up. I hope it doesn't sway girl!!!
I think you guys are right about keeping yourself busy, especially during the 2WW. We have a playdate on Wednesday, special trip to the fair on Thursday (the kids have never been on any rides), and our Anniversary on Sunday.
What are you guys eating for Protein/carbs?
Thanks for taking the time to write that out WP! That is super interesting, because while it looks like it didn't change much with your DS's, it changed enough to be more boy-friendly. Especially DS2 it sounds like.
Oh how I looooove sugar. I cut way, way back when I was swaying and oddly haven't wanted much at all this pg. But pre-sway my normal diet included LOADS of sweets.
I typically am anemic during pg/bf as well. I would do like Lola suggested and write a post and get some others thoughts, but I would expect anemia to sway girl just bc in general less nutrients sway girl. So I would think you should continue with the iron supps.
Protein/carbs ... it's hard to get creative and it sounds like you've covered lots of my go-to's. Larabars, nuts/fruit, beef jerky and fruit, 1/2 a PB sandwich. I also kept hard boiled, peeled eggs in the fridge and would have those and a glass of juice.
Lola I'm so excited for you to get back on the BD train! :bluecheer::bluecheer::bluecheer:
Yes, thanks for writing all of that out, WP! Ya know, for some reason, if I had to guess, I'd say an iron pill probably sways blue, so I don't think there is anything wrong with that, but I guess I was thinking if you had too much iron it may be bad for your health in general- this is, if you were adding lots of red meat now, you may put yourself into the right iron level and the pill just tops you over into too much. But- I am not sure! Atomic will definitely know, she is brilliant.
Oh, and also, if you are drinking milk straight out of the cow, be sure to have a vitamin D supplement!
So, protein and carbs: if no meat, I do cheese and crackers, nuts and fruit, hummus and pita bread, peanut butter on whole wheat, yogurt and fruit, and sometimes a Larabar and a banana. Begonia will have some awesome suggestions, too.
Thanks, B! I am SUPER excited, just so nervous because I don't want to be disappointed again. Can't decide if I want to bust out the egg whites or do preseed with a big bsf about an hour before.....
Thanks so much Lola!! Yep I'm in Alabama and we're actually getting some rain to cool it off today. I hear ya about being in a swimsuit. We went to a friend's house yesterday who has a pool and I felt so self-conscious being in front of them in my swimsuit. I've got a tankini. No way I'd wear a bikini right now!! LOL Usually we get in our pool (small plastic one big enough for the girls but DH and I get in it too cause it's just too hot to sit and watch them.) and we have sprinklers for them too.
I told DH yesterday that I'm ready to be pregnant so I'll have a reason for this weight I've put on. Plus, I'm ready to eat things I like!
4dpo today and still lots of creamy cm.
Creamy cm is a GOOD sign! Do you normally get that in your LP? I normally get some, but when pg, I get a ton, and it is a bit yellowish (sorry, ewww).
I feel like I look like a totally different person with this extra 35lbs on me......I just keep telling myself that in a year, it will be time to get it off as I will be running around chasing my DS.:superhero:
When are you gonna test? I usually hold out till 10dpo, that is when I got my last 2 bfps this year.
Lola, so nice to hear from you again! :)
I'm on va-cay in Greece  and I want sooooo badly this is my cycle :luck: DH and I are both super relaxed, I swim in the sea and pool, and hotel food is excellent: potatoes in various forms every day! Plus I brought here all my supps, DH was like: do you REALLY need all that? Sure I do :p
WP - iron doesn't sway :agree:
My proteins here: meat, beans, nuts ( I brought them too ), eggs, full fat yoghurt with oat ( yep, oat is from home too)
I always eat meat with potatoes and bean with potatoes :p
