Yep I was offered the test but I didn't take advantage of it. I think it is pretty reliable.

Yes I was offered the test but I declined it. Mainly because I didn't want to do anything further to start doubting the validity and health of my daughter. I know my daughter does not have downs and even if she did it really wouldn't change anything. But the doctor did say they can tell gender by the presence of the Y chromosome and that it has a very high success rate. Now there is always room for error and even ultrasound techs and doctors can be wrong. So with that being said...could it happen, yes. Do I think it will for you...nah. Pretty sure it is safe to buy pink. I did and I only had the u/s to go by. Congrats!
AH oh my goodness LO. Sorry to hear you went through that, your story made my MIL seem like an angel almost. Seems like she likes unnecessary drama, I don't get why she was so stuck on it being a secret??? After you told her numerous times it obviously wasn't. I hope you don't have to deal with that often, I probably wouldn't be able to handle that at all.
But it does feel really good to get it off your chest doesn't it? We should have a thread JUST for MILs
Mrs P - when I was pregnant with DS1, I was a server in a restaurant, I let it out to my work by first telling my main boss I was expecting in private and then I told my coworkers that I was somewhat close with and of course (gotta love gossipers) it spread like wildfire! They took care of the telling for me :) Sorry your boss doesn't seem very understanding/supportive, luckily I got along alright with mine so it was easy. Let us know how it goes!!
cvd, luckly she does live interstate but when we see them it is for days at a time. No more planned visits for awhile which is great. I agree a thread for MILs would be very good and would probably be overloaded...
mrsp- maybe some donuts to the office and a lil sign that says "and another in the oven" oh just plain and simple I'm expecting here eat some donuts lol
Thanks Mrs.P!! My DH thinks I have totally lost my mind because I am doubting the results. It just seems a little too good to be true and if I tell people I feel like I will jinx myself in some way. If I had heard boy I would be telling everyone without a second thought to keep everyone's mouth shut about having another boy. My DH asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said I wanted a gender scan. I think he is ready to strangle me:)
As far as telling co-workers I think it is always fun to bring in a cake or cookies. If you bring in a cake and want to reveal the gender you could do one of those gender reveal cakes. Have them write on it something like "Baby P due 25/06/13, cut a piece to find out if I will be a he or a she". Then have them dye the inside of the cake pink (if you want to reveal the gender). I would tell your boss privately first however, tell her you want to surprise everyone. You could also bring in baby themed cookies with your due date written on the cookies. There are lots of fun things you can do with food.
thanks girls, i really quite like the food idea always goes down well with the piggies in our office anyway. Its really my boss i'm dreading telling everyone else should be pleased for us but i suppose i'll just have to take the plunge (either that or the baby will be born soon and she'll figure it out anyway!)
well if you tell her in front of everyone else and they are all happy and eating donuts then she'll won't be able to say anything negative or she'll just look like the biggest bitch lol.
