I'm new too and also very confused. I will look through this when I have time. I have never dieted and have eaten what I like all my life so it is not going to be easy. I have 3 sons. A three year old and 9 month old identical twins. I will start TTC our 4th and final in just under a year and want to do everything I can to get a daughter. I have been thinking about it heaps lately as I get sick of drawing diggers for my toddler and think I have two more double rounds of this. Life is very busy and tiring right now but I am loving it. My partner also has three older sons
Yes Tree, my three boys are our three boys. He has begat 6 sons. Well 5 if you don't count both of our identical twins because technically only one of his sperm was used to make them. Still 5 is alot and I am very intimidated by his most likely high sperm count doing this sway thing. He also smokes a pack a day, has a high stress job as the boss in a hot kitchen and works more than fulltime hours and is 40!
Just wondering if anyone on here, old or new, knows if mrs dash seasonings/marinades are ok? They have no salt, but the ingredients are largely, generally, garlic, celery and onion - all things that aren't ideal. Also are chillies allowed? Flakes or fresh? Thanks! I too am very new to dieting. Have a typical boy diet. Not anymore!!!
I think so as I saw someone recommend them. If you are worried use them as part of your diet not as a main flavour. Parmesan has a real kick to it and you hardly need any, also low fat philli mixed with salt free stock makes a nice pasta sauce - I grate in some raw courgette and it is yummy. Basalmic vinegar and dressings are good too. Low sodium hummus mixed with philli makes a surprisingly good stuffing for mushrooms. Good luck!
Ive been out and about all day long. Food shopping, quick stop home to feed the crew, have something myself and put everything away, then more errands. I fully intend to have 3 slices of homemade pizza tonight. ;) It only puts me up sodium wise, and honestly... not as bad as I thought. My 2 and a half year old pointed at the frozen ones in the store and asked for 'Za'. Who can resist? He asks for things so rarely!

Im not going to worry overmuch about it... I think Im going to try portabello mushrooms for burgers and pizza/parmesan type meals for me to lower carbs. I dont like... or I think I dont like mushrooms. We shall see haha!
You're not alone! I read you! I'm kind of making the diet, but I found very difficult not to exceed with sugar, do you track your sugar? I'm not still sure if I'm going to ttc, I have two boys and I'm afraid that I'm going to get another one if I try, so, undecided yet!
???? unless you have PCOS or insulin resistance, you DO NOT NEED to track sugar. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...-diet-faq.html
surrounded, you need more fat, may I suggest switching to a full fat yogurt??
25-60 g of fat is the LE Diet range
Yes, I have PCOS and I'm using this fitnesspal thing and I'm always exceeding the amount of sugar recommended for a 1200 kcal diet (I think it's 25g). I don't think I have an extreme case of PCOS anyway. Do you know if there's a limit on the sugar? Because I don't reach the 1200 kcal, but exceeding on sugar (according to fitness pal...)
Whoops! I bounce day to day it seems from around 20-30g of fat. Ill add a touch more oil or maybe some unsalted butter when I make my popcorn tonight to boost me up. Full fat yogurt is an option too. I was eating the Yoplait lights for the artificial sweeteners since I dont drink so much during the day. Not as thirsty as I used to be, which I can assume is thanks to the low sodium?

I had a LE version of the Jamie Oliver mushroom risotto the other day which was lovely. Stuffed mushrooms are nice too - I use low fat philli, hummus and no slat bread crumbs as the filling- makes the mushroom less boring. Also soups are a good way of eating without going over totals - use no slat stock, 1/2 glass white wine ( alcohol and therefore calories will be burned off in cooking) mushrooms, and whatever veg you have hanging around. If you have fat and sodium left over at the end of the day , all soup benefits from either having Parmesan or low fat philli stirred in. Have you tried griddling veg and then dressing with basalmic vinegar or basalmic dressing? Courgettes, aubergines and mushrooms work well and are good LE veg. Red pepper is Devine but a bit higher in vitamins.
Oh I forgot! I had the Chinese pancakes they serve with duck the other day and they were amazing with cucumber, iceberg and other bits in. The pancakes are just flour and water no salt at all. You can make them yourself and they are very easy - also so thin that you get less carbs per serving than normal wraps.
I totally had to Google courgettes and aubergines, I had never heard of them. We call them zucchini and eggplant here. I love eggplant (aubergine) and might pick one up to make a sort of parmesan dish with it. That way I feel indulgent :giggle: Thank you for the tip! Im either food shopping today or tomorrow and will likely pick some up.
Heres what Im going to eat today:
Lunch- 2 slices toast with unsalted butter and sugar free jam, banana, peeled apple, and a yoplait light yogurt
Dinner- Spinach lasagna roll and a small slice of garlic bread. Ill eat an end and make sure not to put too much garlic on it.
Snack- Popcorn and some watermelon sour patch candies

Protein- 30 (Low, but Im eating a steak tomorrow for my anniversary so itll more than make up for it!)

Hi, not been on gd forages sand glad to see this thread going. Need some motivation to get me on track!!
Ive been fasting all day and Im starving! Im going to be horrendous tonight, as its my anniversary with DH and we're hitting my favorite steakhouse. In a nod to my sway, i fasted all day and plan to get green beans, and an iceberg salad as side dishes, and an good ol' watermelon margarita sounds good. Im going to pretend my bloody steak covered in blue cheese never happened. :suprise:
The girl friendly sides/drink/fasting all day make up for it right? And the sugary dessert? Right? haha! Ah, ill be back on the bandwagon strict tomorrow!
Sugar is the best empty calorie source ever!!! Enjoy your anniversary :)
Thank you! It was wonderful. :)
My hubby is killing me with his desire for sodium bomb foods. Im getting around it by have a tiny portion and adding my own healthier things on the side whenever possible.

First day on this diet
Breakfast:skipped
mid-day snack: Peppermint tea and dried cranberries
lunch: special K peanut butter and chocolate granola bar
mid afternoon snack: baby carrots, dried cranberries and a piece of chocolate cake.
Dinner: probably pork chops and veggies
This diet is tough. Doing fine with everything except sodium. I just can't seem to get below 1500. A major problem is that i can't give up the sodium filled salad dressing. Any suggestions on what to use on salads that isn't awful tasting? Already feel majorly deprived of food i love.
I used a splash of oil (try and not use olive oil, I used veggie its not quite as good for you) and a splash of red wine vinegar or balsamic mixed with a little grated parm, and mrs dash. A little went a long way. Hope that helps!

White bread is a killer on the sodium - some has more than salt and vinegar crisps! Pasta is a great calorie provider as long as you have a sensible sauce - I like mixing low fat philli with a bit of the hot pasta water, grated courgettes and Parmesan. Cous cous or rice salads are good too. If you fancy something sweet then popcorn made on the stove with a teeny bit of oil and shaken with icing sugar is nice. Oh and I couldn't survive without matzo or no salt rice cakes.
You can eat fruit too - strawberries, white grapes and peeled apples are very good LE food.
There are lots of recipes in the dream section that atomic made up - far better than my suggestions!
What about no salt salt? The salt with no Sodium.
Breakfast: nada
Snack: CL
Lunch: 16 oz. coffee with sf sweetener and nf milk
1 piece sprouted bread 1 tbs peanut butter and 1 small tbs sf blueberry jelly (basically an open faced PB sandwich)
Dinner: 2.5 cups brown rice, 1/2 cup white corn, small bunch broccoli
More CL.
I usually eat way more and snack on air popped corn at night with hubby but today I was not as hungry
Are there any premade breads/brands that people have found to be girl friendly? I have a 1.5 year old boy and def don't have time to be making my own breads :-)
Hi Sarajoy, a but off topic but do you have a machine to air pop corn? Is it better than doing it in the microwave without oil? What do you flavour it with and what brand machine do you have if you have one? Thanks - am thinking about getting one for the family as my boys love pop corn and I want to be able to have some too!!!
Sorry to jump in. I have an air popping machine that I got from Lidl and it's excellent. Usually I just put some in a bag with caster sugar and gave it a good shake. I've also made a toffee sauce for the popcorn but it was so gorgeous I couldn't leave it alone so maybe not such a good idea for le!

Dreamofpink do you think air popped is as good as oil or butter popped - ie will I get away with giving it to non dieters? Was it Lidl own brand? Thanks
The machine was from lidl, not sure when or if they'll have them back in again soon. The popcorn, I usually buy from a local weigh & save. Homemade popcorn is lovely and doesn't have the chemically taste of the microwave stuff. I think it's perfectly acceptable, when it's drizzled with homemade toffee sauce it's fantastic! :D
