Hi everyone. Haven't checked in a long time so just popping in to say hello. It turns out I have total placenta privia so I will be having a c-section on feb 17th. Which puts me at 37 weeks 4 days or something. I would've loved to have natural birth but all I care about is a healthy baby at this point

Sunflower I'm so sorry you have had such a tiring nauseating pregnancy! Let's hope this little lady/guy treats you better in your last few weeks. Odd wow you are officially on countdown! Hooray! Sorry you are not getting your natural birth but it will be wonderful to hold your little lady in your arms very soon - you will be our first birth and birth story! Xx
hi ladies just popping in to say happy new year and hope everyone is well. Its been a few months since I have been able to come here and Im still crazy at work so not sure when I will be back again but I just wanted to say hi!! I don't think I can quite catch up on everything but I saw some really lovely names that you guys are considering, and I am being useless with that so its good to get inspiration/steal haha!!
Im 30 weeks now, look and feel like a hippo lol and only 9 more weeks of work left (including this week). I know that work is easier but its really hard at the moment so I am looking forward to not working on the same old crap all year!!! I know when I am getting no sleep and having baby challenges I will want to be at work lol

I am also struggling with work! Its very hot here in N.Z very humid and I'm really tired, feeling massive and having intense braxton hicks all day long. I'm only 28weeks and I was planning on working up until 38weeks but thinking I might finish at 37. What did you all find worked best for you in other pregnancies? Or what are you ladies planning on doing this pregnancy if you work full time?

Kitkat, I've always finished up around 7 months. I think it depends on how you're feeling and what job you do. Last time I was working in a nursing home.

Well I am devo. My cousin had a baby boy this morning... and called him Fergus. She had no idea we were going to use it so I can't even be angry. We were set on it, had even told the boys & were referring to him as Fergus. I just feel like every part of the joy & excitement I am trying to cling to in this pregnancy keeps being taken away. I'm so upset. We didn't like any other names & were both absolutely sold on Fergus. When I found out I broke into a sweat all over my body & couldn't stop shaking. And I'm at work too so I've just gotta keep on keeping on today. I'm just so so upset.
:( oh primal. That's terrible. I hope you are both able to agree on another name you both love.
I'm so sorry! Someone stole my favorite boy name so I can relate, DH had to call me ASAP because he knew I would be so upset!
Oh honey that totally sucks!!! Are you close cousins? If not I think you could still name your guy that... If you are then back to the drawing board but you will find the perfect cool name I just know you will! Big hugs XX
First cousins I'm afraid, our mothers are sisters and her mother is my godmother. Back to the drawing board. ������ Oh well. We'll find something.
Primal I would stick with the name. You love it, it is a great name, and unless you live with your cousin it will not be confusing for anyone. Don't let this get you down!! I mean it isn't even a sibling of yours, it is just your cousin. I totally wouldn't care if someone used the same name- I would just think they also loved it as much as I do :)
My husband has an older son with his ex, dh's brother & wife called their son the same name. I don't see why you shouldn't use the name you love!! Speak to your aunt and cousin and politely tell them the situation and that you will be calling your baby the name you love and had used to bond with your baby xx
I've had my scan now. I won't get nt results till next appointment. I'm not certain confident with the nub shot quality. I will still post in nub theory and skull theory. I have my suspicions of bubs gender already though.
Ugh Primal. Really?? How frustrating. What are the chances they would use that exact name. Geez. I am sure that whatever you end up picking will be perfect for your little guy!

Hi everyone! Had problems with the site so haven't been able to post in a while. Been getting a lot of gasps and words of sympathy when people find out I still have 15 weeks to go, everyone assumes I'm a lot further on because of my size.
Primal - my cousin used the name dh liked for dd4 also unknowingly. I didn't say anything and now I prefer the name we choose instead sooooooo much more! In a way I'm glad it happened.
Boysway - had a look at ur pics - I say BOY!! If I'd had those pics I'd be over the moon!!!

Babybeaublue---I get that all the time! I'm due in 6 weeks.. but I get this : "oh you must be due any day now?".
I tell them I have weeks to go. They tell me I look huge.

I'm getting called huge too and I've still got 17 weeks to go!!! I'm not surprised though my bump is always enormous & I have seen full term women smaller than I am now. My cousin contacted me & said she has no problems at all if we use the name. So now we just have to decide if we are ok with that. We are going to keep looking for another name that we absolutely love, but if we don't find one we will use it I think.
We are looking for an Irish name but I would prefer to stay away from the Irish names that use the Gaelic/Welsh spelling which becomes difficult for Australian-English speaking people to pronounce through reading. We like Emmett & I came across Odhran the other day which we both really like but that is one of the names spelt funny - the 'd' is silent so it is pronounced "Orin". I really have an issue with mucking around with spelling, names to me need to be spelt correctly or not used at all. So we need to work out if we're ok with imposing a challenging moniker on our son or not. I have a weird name & so does my mother & we've never struggled with it more than it being irritating on occasions but still, the thought of a kid growing up & being "Odd-ran" forever is not something I'm sure I can intentionally choose for him. I suppose we could spell it "Ohran" which still looks quite nice but it still grates on me that it's essentially a "made up" name.
I had my first (one of 2) appointments with the OBGYN last week & booked my caesarean. Baby will be born 15th May which is the date that popped into my head the moment I got a positive test result. How exciting! By chance I got the same OBGYN who did DS2's emergency caesarean - given we're in the public system & I choose my midwife but am allocated a OBGYN by chance it's a lovely coincidence.
She offered to tie my tubes while she's in there. :think: Don't really know how I feel about that. This is meant to be our last baby, I will be a month off 35 when he's born so while that's not old it's certainly not young, and being a working parent I don't think I can cope with any more kids. That being said, I'm not sure how I feel about giving birth & being rendered infertile in the same procedure.
It's wonderful that you got your cousins blessing to use the name. At least you know you have a name that you love and can be used if you don't find something that fits your desires better. I do love Odhran, although I certainly wouldn't have said it correctly without being told how it's pronounced. I don't think Ohran looks made up at all, but I know what you mean about the spelling. We went back and forth a ton on how to spell my second sons name because there are two main varieties and even though it's only two letters, it felt like a big deal (I ended up "winning" the spelling war). But no one much pronounces it correctly even though it's a super easy name. Maybe Irish is something lots of folks can't say well?
And wow, that would be a hard choice to make. Especially in the midst of a pregnancy. It's one thing to know ahead of time if that is your plan. But I imagine it will be a hard choice to make. My mom had hers done with my youngest brother, but they knew ahead of time that she was going to if she had a c-section (it was a primary for size). We haven't even discussed birth control after baby. I am slightly in denial that this is probably our last.
And May is a gorgeous time for a birthday. My daughter is the 9th and I LOVE it. This ones timing was a tad earlier than our "ideal," it will probably be a late-Feb baby, which is more "winter" than we were intending. But I am sure it will work out fine in the end.
I'm from n.ireland and I didn't know that name was Orin :oops: I suppose you don't really see names as much as you hear them. I agree with the whole spelling issue too. My dd3 is forever having her name spelt wrong or read out wrong, so annoying.
I think the fact that you can decide not to have any more kids is different from having the choice taking out of your hands indefinitely. Dh says he's getting the snip after this one. Not sure how I feel. I know that it's not practical for us to have another (no more room in the house or car and can't afford bigger) but to know that that's it, no more for sure, don't know if I'm 100% with it or not.

Awww BabyBeau look at your bump! So cute! And yes I agree what you're saying about contraception. We are pretty certain we are done: space-wise, affordability-wise and sanity wise due to work (if I didn't I would want one more I think). But how do I know that I'm not going to want one more in 2 years time? My friend & her husband just had their 5th. They live in a small 3 bedroom house & their happy as anything. That being said, it's not a opportunity I will have again as it costs money usually to have the procedure done & I would be getting it done under Medicate (like the NHS in Britain - our free healthcare system). I don't fancy having surgery again so if I don't get it done I think if we do decide to go down the track of permanent contraception hubby will get the snip. There are less complications associated with tube-tying so is that fair when I have the opportunity?? I don't know. Ugh.
We also found the name Felix which I we both kind of like. There is some debate on naming sites as to it's origins. The popular commercial sites (like Nameberry) say it's Hebrew but some of the smaller Irish/Welsh/Gaelic (like babynamesofireland.com) sites say it's Irish. I know my parents, who are in their late 60s will immediately say "Like Felix the cat!" Which is already irritating me but Felix the cat is kind of a done thing, he hasn't really been around much for years & most kids of today wouldn't know who he was. We also like Mannix (which is definitely Irish) but we were hoping to use my husband's name as a middle name & "Mannix Michael" sounds dreadful!!
Fergus is definitely still a front runner. We may well go to hospital with a list of names to see who he looks like. We've always had one favourite and one "backup" just in case baby didn't look like whatever name we have chosen, but so far we used the favourite both times. This time might be different.
A friend of mine was married to a Felix, she got the cat thing all the time but Felix the cat is still shown on tv here!! Mannix is cool never heard that before. I definitely think when you see him you'll just know what his name is meant to be.
What's everyone's opinion on using a name chosen when pregnant, but then you mc. Is it ok to use the name for another baby? I keep thinking no. That was meant for that particular baby, not this one. Not sure.
I would use Fergus primal. I really believe it won't matter that you both have boys with the same name. If you love stick with it.
I'm 32 weeks and feeling awful. I can barely walk as my Pubic bone seems to be separating. I forget the name for it but it hurts. 8 weeks to go.

Is it spd? I have it too, really painful.also my hips crack and click when I turn over in bed, have done since about 10 weeks. When preg with my fourth my Dr told me my body doesn't want me to get pregnant again. Oh well lol!
It's awful. I feel like I can't walk and look stupid when I do!!!
I'm not sure about a name when you miscarry. I would say if you really love the name use it .

Primal LOVE Fergus and Felix is a super back up which might trump Fergus on the day. Great you talked it over with your cousin you must feel so much better about the situation!
I personally am not getting my tubes tied or encouraging DH to have a vasectomy it just seems so final and we are pretty careful family planning wise probably we will have a whoopsie now!
The third trimester is sucking big time for me! Just soooo tired, having vertigo when lying down and dizzy spells. Got some iron tablets so hope they help! Hoping the next 11 weeks whizzes by XX
This is my 5th!! I have a belt I got from physio when preg with my 2nd and I had the pelvic problems, but it's not very practical. You wear it round your hips but then when you need to sit you have to loosen it and it's Velcro, not very discreet lol!
I get bad side effects from any contraception I try so don't know what we'll do.
Kitkat ive been fainty/dizzy for weeks now too. My bp and iron levels are always fine though? It's worse when I have to stand still rather than walk. This is my hardest preg yet. Better not be the hardest labour and birth!
Oh Sunflower & BabyBeau I had SPD with DS2 & it was terrible. I've been feeling great but the last few days I've started to feel exhausted & just BLAH. I don't know about the name with the MC. Too many variables & it's up to the individual. I would say for me, if it was early & just a thought of "oh if this baby is a boy/girl I'll use this name" then it would be fine to use it for another child. If the miscarriage was further on I'm not so sure, I think I would be inclined to actually name the baby when he was born in which case that would be his name & I couldn't use it for another child. You are so close now KitKat not long until you meet your little Princess!
wow boysway - amazing to have all of those boy guesses!! It does look very similar to my DS ultrasound 13 weeks pics just to add to the boy guess bandwagon :)
Primal - sorry about the name, very sweet of your cousin though and I would use the name if i couldn't find something else, after all that was what you were set on. But you never know you might find something you like even better :)
as for finishing work it does depend on what you do and how you feel, journey time etc. My journey to work is really easy. I will be finishing on 13 March, 10 days before due date. Yes there is a risk my waters could break at work but who cares haha. I don't want to be sat at home bored trying to distract myself for too long before anything happens. 8 more weeks of work and counting yay!!!!
I usually work up to the week before I'm due but I'm sitting on my butt in an office lol! Still have the travelling to do as the girls go to school close to my work.
So my mum is starting to annoy me with girl name suggestions and telling me to hold on to my dds clothes (not even talking baby clothes here but like age 7 etc!), obviously assuming this will be another girl.
Totally agree with you about using the name if mc was early Primal. Just not 100% set on it.

I'm 33 weeks and feeling increasingly tired, sore lower back, painful cramps at night ....don't have any clothes tht fit anymore lol.
I too had iron tablets but I have stopped taking them as they made me feel awful with headache, nausea and constipation!
Boys way :I have had all along comments about how for sure I have another boy in there ...a friend even said that 'I must have been really naughty in a previous life to have all boys'! Wtf?! And comments on the size of my bump are priceless too! Mind u I am pretty huge as you can see lol.
We are team green. Still can't quite decide on a boys name to go with our three boys (Emilio,Rocco, Enzo). If its a girl, as said before I think we are pretty set on Lilou (yes Primal from the 5th element !). I heard someone call their daughter Bibi and thought it was cute too.
I am getting very excited now to meet this little bubs soon.

I'm huge all over. Didn't gain like thus with my boys but I also ate better. All I can stomach is carbs paras breads etc.
I can't come up with a boys name either but hope I won't need to.

Iron pills seem to have helped but I already have awful constipation tmi so hopefully they don't make it worse!
Sunflower you have had such a rough pregnancy I would not worry too much about what you are eating, you can worry about it once your precious cargo is here! I gained a lot with DS2 I was just so tired I think I ate a lot to try and give myself energy anyway it all came off pretty fast and I felt like dieting or trying to diet once he was here.

I'm planning on having 2 weeks off before she comes, I ummeed and aaahed over it but I am struggling now so I think 2 weeks off to fix nursery, last minute shopping, washing etc would do me good I am having a planned c section a week early so no going past my due date for me XX
For those looking for an iron supplement - is Florodix available where you are? Or any naturopathic herbal liquid supplement? My mother in law insisted on throwing me a shower next month which im greatful for. She has 3 boys and 2 grandsons so shes elated to finally be getting her girl as well. My family is very generous and im not sure what to get or not get yet until the shower. Is any1 else having one?
