I hope it's not a nub but I'm still thinking it is been looking at loads of boy nubs and mine looks similar only thing is mine isn't as clear. Not as obvious to see. Hope it's a cord or leg!! I guess I'm bk in the waiting game with you all. Wish I could feel positive because all that's important is having a healthy baby! But still can't help but want a little pink one!
Argh! I've busied myself with food (which I REALLY didn't need after devouring almost a whole share sized bag of popcorn!), watching The Hills, cutting and filing my nails to stumps (I pick at spots when I'm nervous or stressed!), had a bath and played games on my phone, and still....
21 hours and 28 minutes!!!!! :hair:
Isn't it amazing how slow time can go when you're waiting for something! Have you tried making a list of all the stuff you need to do? If all else fails I usually either do that and start doing something useful, or I resort to playing solitaire!
Hopefully you sleep good cause time passes so much nicer during sleep lol... Go out and do something for a bit
Well, I've destroyed the world and eradicated humans from the planet a few times (obviously via my safe little realm outside my phone!), and I've listened in to baby on the doppler (just checking he's still there for paying out more money tomorrow!). About to try and sleep now.
My list for the 12.5 hours of time tomorrow:
Get children fed, dressed and walked to school.
Depending on if my car decides to start I will take it to the electrical place to have the battery tested - I shall insist on waiting there whilst they do it, to use more time!
Order wedding albums for clients
Clean as much of the house as I can (that tends to take a while and makes the other half happy!)
Feed child that is at home with me
Try to have a nap
Collect first child from school
Make children dinner before going to scan.
Doesn't seem enough to fill the time!
I havent even gotten mine scheduled yet! :( Have my second appt tomorrow but probably wont get to schedule it tell the appt after that..and Im in a rural area so no option to pay for an early one! Bummer being due at the end of the month! Lol. At least I have all you gals to live through!!
I decided to not pay for a private one I didn't want to fork out a hundred bucks.... It's been a long wait.... I did get to see babe Monday but legs were too closed to get a good peek in there :(....
Private scan 29 march! Good Friday! Hoping for good news lol!
And that's a smart decision. I so regret getting mine. I feel like I threw $100 out the window because I already knew based on my nub shots that it's most likely a boy. Another person told me today that I deserve my money back but I can't call the place and tell them: "Your ultrasound machine sucks, give me my money back." :(
Good luck Northern!
Well I had my nuchal today at 12+3, or 12+0 (I've posted it in USS pics) and feel exhausted now. Overall my risk of trisomies is still "low risk" but much higher than it was with the others. It's not just my age either, the bloods gave me a 1:30 risk of Down Syndrome although this risk hugely improved after my normal scan. I feel worried though and DH and I are in the midst of a huge chat of what to do... THe Maternit21 test is now available in Australia but REALLY expensive but obviously pretty accurate and non invasive. I'm booked in to have it done on Monday but may still change my mind. The fetal medicine specialist didn't seem to concerned but gave us all our options; I do think it's his job not to sway people with their decision making.
DH is reassured by my overall risk but I'm fretting and he's trying to be rational which isn't my strong point at the moment.
The first thing I saw during the nuchal was a long, flat forked girly looking nub and I felt very deflated but then a second later it seemed more angled so the whole hour was very tense. The baby was very active so the fetal medicine specialist finished off (and he always liked to scan brains and hearts himself) and offered to give us a gender guess if we were interested. DH was so nervous that I realised how much it all meant to him. Anyway, the specialist kept on scanning and I thought he'd forgotten about the gender altogether when he said that he'd been going to say boy but some shots threw him whereupon he showed us the world's girliest looking nub. Two seconds later he showed us how "boy" it looked and he said that given that he wasn't 100% sure he didn't want to hazard a guess.
Ill try to attach the only 2D pic we got.

Thanks Mum, and I'm sorry about your risk news. I'm terrified about this low PAPP level but until late in the second trimester they won't even monitor it.
I'd be doing the Materni21 test if we could afford it and my risks were high. I admire people that could cope with a child with DS or other genetic disorders, but we personally couldn't do it, especially with having two children already, we just don't think it would be fair.
I wish you all the best.
Mum, I really hope all turns out well!!
In this pic the nub looks boy!
Thanks, "risk" is a funny thing to quantify, isn't it? My overall risk is still ok but I'm not sure I'll be able to relax until I have a normal result.
I think it looks boyish as well but at times it looked so girly!
Your turn tomorrow Thorz! And Northern, must be soon? It's Thursday night in Aussie.
Northern how did you sleep?!
Mum to three lovely to see your passenger at last xx
Mum I think you have a boy cooking in there :D
I actually slept really well and didn't even have any weird dreams!
7.5 hours left!
Yay that's awesome! Glad you slept well! Can't wait :D
Mum to three -- I'm so sorry about the testing scare. What did they say your risk for down syndrome was after the scan? With DS1, ours was 1/169 and that was still high enough to freak me out (this was after the quad screen though which has a lot of false positives. A level II scan with a wonderful perinatologist finally calmed as down. He assured us that mothers are being "overtested" these days, meaning that even the slightest variations are often seen as alerts to a larger issue, when in reality, they are just that, variations.
Anyway...I'm inclined to think you'll get great results from the MaterniT21.
Northern -- can't wait to check on you in just a few hours! I remember all too well how I felt going in.
Mum to Three- That nub looks boyish to me! So exciting! Sorry about the scare, hope you get positive news soon.
Northern- Can't wait for news today! :fx:
Are you having a scan today thorz?
Mum to three sorry about your testing. I do think that they tend to over test and end up freaking you out more than anything. If your NT scan was normal I think that is a really good sign. I had the MaterniT21 test done (it is all my OB does) and I was still freaked out even after getting a normal result. It does look like you could have a boy in there!! If you do get the MaterniT21 testing done you can find out gender and know for sure.
Good luck to Northern and Thorz... update soon!!
Am getting so nervous now! 4.5 hours!
I keep texting hubby reminding him not to leave work late and I think he's starting to get fed up with me! The baby is obviously picking up on it too as its feeling rather squirmy and active today.
Eek! :nails:
My baby decided to turn into a ninja two nights ago.... I was feeling movement for a little while now but now its getting some really good kicks/jabs!
Can't wait for ur update
20 more hours for me, good thing I get to sleep for 8 of those!!! Today is actually going by quite quickly because I have lots to do around the house! My goal is to get every once of laundry washed folded and put away!!! That's a big goal in this house, hope i can do it!!!
Ladies I need some quick advice!! Sorry tmi but I CANNOT poop!! I have never had constipation with any of my pregnancies, actually I'VE NEVER had it pregnant or not! Well I'm miserable now and have been taking regular fiber pills for the last few days because I heard that is the only safe thing you can take! But it isn't working! I actually think its worse since taking them! What can I take or do to
help get me back to regular and FAST because I'm in actual pain because of it!
Prune juice, go swimming, warm bath, a long walk, bran flakes, these all help me!
Here in the uk they can prescribe Lactulose which is apparently good.
Here you go Lactulose - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia you may be able to find it in the states?
Also lots of water and strawberries are natural laxative... My only concern is you could possibly need a stool softner now if you have been constipated for a while or it might be very painful to pass
It gets worse with every pregnancy. I cannot imagine what it is like to be Michelle Duggar LOL.
Fiber can totally make it worse, fiber is best as a day in, day out preventative kind of thing and not as a remedy for an already existing condition. This is esp. true in pregnancy because it's like you can never drink enough water when you're pg. Not to alarm you, but if you don't go soon, I think you need to call your doctor because you may be impacted.
My advice is this stuff http://alodrink.com/ I also STRONGLY recommend having some to take with you to the hospital and to have it on hand when you get home. Made all the difference in the world for me between DS 4 and DD.
Sorry for WAY TMI but you may need to use a suppository or some rubber gloves and vaseline to manually get things moving. o.O
:agree: about the prenatal testing, my doctor advised against it because the main reason you come back as "high risk" is due to age. It usually has nothing to do with the blood tests themselves, they add up factors and age is the most important, so everyone over a certain age comes back high risk regardless of what their blood tests even say.
Thanks everyone, my overall risk is 1:494 so still quite low for my age but my PAPP level is low(ish) and my HCG is huge so I'm nervous. No one else is that worried. I'm not sleeping well this pregnancy but I do feel better this morning. I still think I'll get the blood test done though.
I think my nub looks boy too but there were so many girl shots during the scan that I'm only being quietly hopeful.
Thoz, I'm not constipated this time but was with the last three so I've lots of sympathy!
Good luck Northern!
Waiting for Northern's update.....................
You'll be waiting a while, appointment is in 1 hr 10 mins!
So so nervous :nails: please send as much pink dust as possible!!!
I agree about the fibre, Thorz. You're better off eating foods high in fibre and taking a stool softener. They're not absorbed by the body so safe.
Mum to three I dunno if this will make you feel better but in the uk they wouldn't test for any of this except downs so it maybe a case of too much info is a dangerous thing! Hope you get some peace of mind soon
Thorz porridge! Oddly had bad constipation last two preggies and none this, dried fruit, porridge/high fibre ceral lots of veg no white bread/cakes etc high fibre bread portion of berries and live yog a day
Thou I'm afraid I agree with atomic thou these will prevent but this time so laxctalose maybe way to go ;-( then start preventatives
Ladies think northern said her scan was at 7.30 so may hear in about an hour!
fish, definitely too much info! I'm going to try to forget about it now (after the blood test, lol).
I think Northern was going out with her family after the scan-it'll be ages!
