I think it will ~probably~ be beneficial to you not to count calories BUT if you are the type of person who just doesn't feel hungry that often, you may need to remind yourself to eat every so often (alarm clock??)

My husband has actually started reminding me to snack. Because he is a big "snacker". So I have just started eating when he eats. He brings me a snack too. He has been really supportive with the delay. He keeps telling me that a May baby would be nicer and blah blah blah so I am happy about that.
I have an April & a May boy. It's a wonderful time for kids parties and outdoor toys for pressies. I've always loved having my birthday in May too. I'm sandwiched between the two boys' birthdays! I almost feel guilty that this one is due in December and won't have the same outdoors parties etc. I worry it'll all get swept up being too near to Xmas, but read somewhere that one of your boys is near to Xmas too & it just adds to the special time. I hope to create something like that too!

TWO of my boys are at Christmas time. My oldest son is halfway between Thanksgiving and Christmas (Dec. 9), and I really like that because it's a good starting point for festivities without making the holiday really stretch out and take over the whole last month. Then my youngest son is Dec. 21 and I like that too because it's like, ok countdown to Christmas beginning now!! The birthdays really add to the specialness of it.
That is one of the reasons I wanted to try this summer so we could have a late spring baby. Our DD is a November baby and we are always having to pay to have her parties at places and it is so pricey! I am looking forward to hopefully having a Spring/Summer baby so we can have some outdoor parties! But about your other concerns. My birthday is 5 days after Christmas. I have never felt like I was swept under the rug. I LOVED it growing up. It felt special having my birthday close to the holidays and I always felt like I got more gifts haha.
Oh i can vouch for the May baby boys being just the bestest ;)
