re car seats, my understanding is that plastic actually starts to go bad over time and that having had it in the car (in sunlight) may exacerbate this and so if it's been more than 3 years, it's best to get a new one.

People WANT this to happen for you and they WANT to buy stuff for you. I didn't want and didn't have a shower because I'm not a shower type of gal, but people were so generous and while it is and was really weird to me to accept it, I'm so glad I did!! People enjoy doing it and it really does make you feel loved.
Thanks for the car seat info! My cousin was going to give me one that doesn't expire until dec2016. The graco snug ride. I looked it up and the bigger seats were recalled. It looked like the infant seats were recommended to be recalled but were not. I have to look closer at the dates etc. When I saw it was only $100 I figured I should just but my own. It's been used by 2 babies. :/

Wow, really? There's no such thing as an expiry date in car seats in the UK. I had no idea & have been using one that's 10 years old - it came from a friend, so I know it's history. I just assumed that if it wasn't in an accident it would be okay!Quote:

I ever heard of expiration date non grace but I know a lot got recalled. So map nanny is recalled but there is dream dex which is the same thing. I'm using my old nap nanny! Definitely have a shower and enjoy all the presents!!!

I know its hard but enjoy these last few weeks..... I still dream about my days in the hospital with her, what an amazing feeling, take it all in, after the newborn crazy phase, it goes by way too quick :( very sad!!
