Hi Momwithlove, about keeping track of calories I measure everything I eat and log it in myfitnesspal.
I know losing weight is a nono for blue, but I was morbidly obese, and have PCOS. I don't think I could have safely carried a pregnancy to term at my weight. I started the HE diet at the beginning of September, so that gives me about 8 weeks - hoping I ovulate around CD 16-18.
I got my girls with BD every day with a 3 day cut off. I think what I am going to do is keep BD every other day, but start using protection from CD 10. Then proceed with 3 attempts once I get a positive opk.
If you have trouble with holds and restricting fluids I would suggest the purple cb - so to be clear the Clearblue Dual Hormone Digital Opk test kit. It uses fmu so no need for holds or wondering if your sample is too diluted. It has three results, the open circle which will always be your result when first used as it needs to establish base levels. It will then move onto a flashing smiley once it detects a change in both lh and estrogen and then finally a solid smiley when it detects peak levels. Solid smiley is equivalent to a positive opk. The instructions will tell you what cd to begin testing based on your cycle length. I found them super easy to use, especially with being able to test every morning with fmu. If you suspect you have a short surge, you are able to test again after fmu test (so as well as fmu test you can test in the afternoon/evening but will need to attempt a hold) once you have a flashing smiley. I would suggest sticking to just the once a day with fmu initially though.

I'll start testing 5 days Before o
No problem! I just happened to stumble across this thread and your post. If yourself or anyone else here have questions please feel to join/post in the 2ww thread as well. Its great for a quick response about anything ttc related, its not just a place to wait out the 2ww in. Should be renamed a monthly Ttc & 2ww thread rather than just 2ww :) Myself and other long term ladies often stick our heads in there. Good luck to you all [emoji3]

Went ahead and renamed the November thread [emoji12] in case anyone is interested in joining!

Ladies, for those who have doubts about bd pattern..i asked atomic for her advice about my bd pattern en she responded positively to this.
once i get +opk i will go for 3 attempts; evening of +opk, am of next day then pm of that day. From then continue EOD in case of delayed O.
So that’s why I chose for bd on:
O-1 +opk
O (I hope so and bd at am and pm)
I will skip the next day and continue on;
O+2
O+4
O+6
Appears we are going to do the same pattern. DH flatly refuses to use protection - says he doesn't like it. Our BD pattern has always been EOD day anyway. So it appears all we have to do is have the extra attempt at Positive OPK.
After doing a little more reading around the site, it appears what actually swayed pink for my daughters was the the BD pattern. We were newly weds and I know for a fact that we were BD every day. Add my chronic exercise and dieting it makes sense I had girls.
Hi ladies, can any of you shed some light for me on opk's?
I used clearblue digital (purple one) for first time ever yesterday and got a blank circle. Then this morning I got a flashing smiley face.
Im using the cheapie opk in the afternoons but not getting positive at all on it?
Any ideas?? As hoping to sway blue I don't want to do the 3 attempts until I know I'm about to ovulate?
Also I assume a +opk with clearblue digital is when it's a solid smiley not a flashing one?
Thanks for any advice

Dreamingrainbow the first digi result will always be an open circle as it uses this to establish base levels as such. The flashing smiley indicates a rise in lh and estrogen but you can experience many days of flashing smiley (mine ranged from 2-5) when your levels peak you will get a solid smiley which is your pos opk.

If you suspect you have a short surge, once you get a close to or pos opk in the afternoon dip test ones then retest using your digi and see if you get a solid smiley. The beauty of it is, even if you pick up your peak surge early (as in no short surge but picked up at beginning of peak due to testing again) but still dont ovulate until 2nd day after solid smiley you get your three attempts in for sure

Its more that your lh and/or estrogen levels are on the move and this is shown with a flashing smiley. As I mentioned, you may experience multiple days of a flashing smiley until the levels shift again and register a peak reading giving you a solid smiley :)

That's really good advice thank u! I'm not entirely sure what a short surge is but I'm not long post late mmc so I'm trying to get a read on my system/cycle and hoping to catch the egg if possible.
In my ignorance I thought if I got blank circle yesterday and flashing today then I thought I'd have solid tomorrow !
I'll keep doing the cheapie ones in the afternoon. So just to clarify - if I get what looks like a positive (or almost) on cheapie in the afternoon can I use the same urine to test the clearblue or do I wait another 4 hours?

You can absolutely use the same sample as the afternoon one to retest using digi. By short surge I mean some people have to test multiple times a day to catch there pos opk or they may miss it (other people can experience the opposite and have a long surge, so 2 or more days of pos opk before ovulation takes place) If you do get a solid smiley from an afternoon sample then normally you wouldn't have gotten it until the following morning if sticking to testing with fmu as per instructions, so you may not ovulate the 2nd day after. Does that make sense? Just trying to explain both ends short and long, but most people do fall in the middle :)

Thanks for all the details on ovulation it is very beneficial.

Hi guys. So I've had flashing smiley on digital clearblue 9th - 12th Nov using fmu. Using Cheapie opks each afternoon but getting barely a hint of a line! Have i missed it?

I have read regularly where it is not recommended to use two brands of opks because it does not show the same results at the same time and many of them who use two different brands get confused because they do not know which of the two results is the right one. Each brand has a different sensitivity which may not give you the same results. Stay with one brand so this will prevent confusion. That’s my opinion..
Dreaming what cd did you start the digis on? I know its frustrating but just keep at it. My dip tests would darken to a pos usually over 2 days from a barely there line rather than slowly getting darker daily so hang in there. Ideal afternoon testing is generally between 1pm - 2pm and try to restrict fluids for 2-3 hours prior and hold for 2, is this similar to what you're doing? Just try and relax and let your body do its thing. Your surge will come.

Hiya pbn3,
I started using the cheapie tests on what i think was cd10 (post mmc so not 100%) and started using clearblue digital on cd14. I'm now cd17. I've been doing clearblue with fmu and then cheapie at approx 4pm after not peeing for 4 hours (which is v difficult!!) [emoji4]
I suppose I'm being very impatient and worrying I won't O !

Dreaming when do you usually o and how long is your cycle? The digis come with an instruction table showing what day to start using them. Cd14 seems quite late to start? Do you have quite a long cycle usually??
Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
Sorry I've just reread your post. Is this your first cycle following mmc?
Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
Not entirely sure tbh! For the past 4 years I've either been pregnant or breastfeeding but I've worked out O is approx cd17.
But as I started using the cheap opk on cd10 I assumed I'd be ok? I'll keep testing for a few more days and then maybe give it up until next month [emoji17]

Dreaming you may ovulate later than usual while your body and hormones are still settling back into place. Definately keep testing with both the digi and cheapies for now (No point stopping the digis now) Hopefully you'll see a positive within the week (I think you will [emoji3]) So what cd are you on now?

Does anyone drink Baking soda?
Eek this is a positive opk isnt it?
Had flashing smiley on digital opk this am but got this just now.
Do do I dtd tonight, tm and tm night or tm night the following am and that night?!
Also we dtd last night and night before....have I ruined my boy sway?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0ec958a632.jpg

Dreaming that looks really close and very well may be your pos as some people don't get a blaring pos on IC's. Do another digi now and see if its still flashing or solid. I'm inclined to say my advice would be wait to start your attempts tomorrow. Have an AM and PM attempt tomorrow followed by another AM OR PM attempt the following day. That will be your 3 attempts in easily and allows 36 hours for sperm recovery from last bd going into to 3 in a row!!

Argh I'm so silly I threw out the sample so can't test using the digital opk! [emoji17]
I'll do an opk test in the am and hopefully see a solid smiley and I'll do another tm. afternoon. Tg u suggested waiting till tm I'm knackered! [emoji16]
Thanks for all your help and advice!
Have u got your +opk yet?
Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
Dreaming realistically sticking to the fmu testing as per digi instructions you wouldn't get a solid smiley until tomorrow AM anyway. So your other option if it is solid in the morning is dtd tomorrow night then twice the following day or if you feel better about getting two attempts in tomorrow and one the following day the do that. Whatever works out best for you at pos opk :) Just be sure to get at least one attempt in tomorrow! How exciting your pos is almost here!!! Afm - I'm actually almost 31 weeks pregnant after a long and very hard journey. I just like to try and help in these support threads (mainly the ttc/2ww ones) for those chasing a quick answer or advice :)
