How is everyone going to announce their pregnancy/gender??? I have only told parents and siblings and a few close friends about the pregnancy. I have decided to wait on everyone else so I don't have to deal with the questions and comments about having another boy or if I want a girl. Well, Im going to announce my pregnancy and gender at the same time on facebook after we find out what we are having. I'm planning on Saying "We are expanding our home by 2 feet" and adding a pic like this with all of our feet

Only the baby shoes will either be pink girly shoes or boy shoes, and I'll just let them figure it out. I wont actually say its a girl or its a boy!
How is everyone else doing it?
Thats a super cute idea!
We actually did a gender reveal party last week after my ultrasound. I baked cupcakes and added a blue filling in all the cupcakes then iced half with pink and half with blue icing on top. All our local family/friends came by and I had them all choose a pink or blue cupcake based on what they thought the baby was. On the count of "3" everyone bit into their cupcakes at the same time to reveal the surprise blue filling. It was so much fun and the best part was that I didn't receive a single negative comment. Everyone gave me hugs and lots of smiles and "congratulations" because they could see how much we wanted to celebrate this little guy and he isn't "just another boy". I'm so happy we did it.
Thats a really cute Idea! I don't have any family close by so we can't do a gender reveal party, plus no one would want to eat any cupcake I made, I am a terrible baker! I wish I could do a party, but I am in Ohio and all my close friends and family are in Utah, so my reveal has to be online, its lame I would much rather do it in person! Oh well I think everyone will like this pic and hopefully they figure out by the color of shoes. Maybe I'll do a black and white pic and only have the baby shoes be in color. That way it will stand out more! I'll let you guys help me pick if it should be in color or not before I post it!
I wish I had announced it in a cute way on FB. My plan was after the party to cut open one of the cupcakes and take a pic of it with the blue filling and add some kind of a cute announcement then post it on FB. Unfortunately there were no cupcakes left doh! I wasn't going to bake another batch just for a pic lol so I just did a boring announcement. Wish I had seen your shoe idea before, I might have stolen it:p
LOL thats funny, I wouldn't have baked another batch just for the pic either! I am bored right now and have to go to the store to get milk so I think I will buy some baby boy and baby girl shoes and then take some pics of the boys with the shoes now so I can edit them. I kind of want all of our feet in it though, so I might have to wait until Easter when DH is home. But I think I will play around with pics of the boys with the shoes today because I am so bored.
Looking forward to seeing how they turn out!
Damn I wish I'd seen your picture before I went shopping this morning! I want to do a video and this has given me a great idea!!
OMG i havn't got anything planned you lot are amazing!
I just did a plain pregnancy plus gender announcement all-in-one on FB (with an ultrasound photo). I wish I could have something way cuter and I hate to admit it, but GD was getting the best of me. :(
Fish -- so happy for a great ultrasound for you! I can only imagine how bittersweet it must have been. I'm stoked that it looks like you might be getting your little girl, and what a special girl she will be! Can't wait to see what name you will pick for her and for her brother/sister.
Thorz -- I feel so bad for your hip problems. Pregnancy is already hard on your body when you don't have any health issues. I hope the pain will hold off for as long as possible.
I really want to scroll back and respond to everyone but I have to run. Just know that I read EVERYTHING. I just don't always get to reply to everyone individually. I do love this little group of ours though. :)
Aww diva I hope your feeling okay :( its not fun feeling sad :(
It's def hard keeping up with this thread lol ... I love everyone here too :)
Ok I played around with it. I think that when I take the shot of the real thing, I'll have the boys IN their shoes so you can see legs, but they weren't in the mood to play "photo shoot" today lol this is the Idea that I think I am going to do....... Or should I do the whole pic in black and white or all in color?

Or this one of course!

Oh Thorz, those are adorable!!! I DO like the b&w with the baby shoes in color. Normally I am not a big fan of that (f.ex. in wedding photography) but here it's done in order to send a message and I think it's perfect!
I just got back from the endodontist and they are gnna have to d a root canal :( I'm not very happy at all...I have bad memories of how uncomfortable they are and I'm pregnant I don't want to have anesthetic in my body
Thorz that is a super cute way to announce it on FB... might have to seal that one from you. I haven't announced anything yet on FB however, on Valentines day I took a cake into my Mom's work and the cake and filling were all pink inside. it was kind of a pain because I had to make extra sure there wasn't one single pink crumb in the white frosting!! My Mom didn't even know I was pregnant and she thought I was bringing in a Valentines cake for the office. She was so surprised about the pregnancy and he gender I don't think she got any work done for the rest of the day:)
BTW, Dean is our last name... not what we are planning on naming the baby:)

That's cute! I wish I could do stuff like that with people in person......I miss my family!!
Wanting-a-girl I'm sorry about the root canal!! That's not fun at all.
Fish, I'm SO happy for you! It would be a bittersweet thing to hear, but lovely to see bubba healthy and thriving in there too. I'm glad dh is almost home too and you can lean on each other.
Thorz that's such a cute idea! The whole concept is brilliant!
Wantingpink, that's so sweet, I bet your mum was over the moon at it all!
WAG, commiserations on the root canal. It shouldn't be painful though if that's any consolation, more just boring sitting there with your mouth open for so long.
Diva, I'm thinking of you. Telling people is something I'm dreading too.
I haven't decided about telling yet. People know I'm UTD, and everyone is asking if well find out at the morphology, and if we'll share. That was part of my reasoning in having the gender scan, so I could process the news in private first rather than being bombarded with questions straight away, so as far as I'm concerned, it was worth the $100. Now I'm still not sure I want to have to deal with their responses, whether jokes, commiserations or whatever, so I'm wondering about telling them that baby was shy and wouldn't flash, then they can wait til the birth, and by then I won't care a jot, and everyone's comments will be wrapped in the awe of a newborn baby.
I'm not sure about sharing if its a boy we won't I'll be happy I know and I'll tell my mum as she was with me today when they said probably girl other than that I would keep to myself, both boys were team yellow so still feel a bit odd about everyone knowing even if a dd ;-s
Ps this last sleep to dh home, 1 sleep to gender scan! Last time I got decent sleep Thursday lol ... Off to try now xx
Yay to seeing DH again fish!! And GL on scan keep us I'm the loop!
When DD3 was revealed to be a girl I told the truth, that DH was sad for a day or so because he wanted a boy but we were slowly getting excited now about having three girls and we were overall grateful that the baby was healthy. People are generally much more interested in their own lives and I think if you're honest then there's no drama and just another healthy baby to celebrate.
Admitting that we were a bit (transiently) disappointed meant that most of the comments were supportive.
Diva, you are gorgeous and look very trim. My 13 week bump looks bigger than that.
Thorz, those pics are stunning.
Fish, I'm sure an NHS trained tech who presumably does high risk scans wouldn't have made a mistake with the gender. Good luck for Friday though.
WAG, better to get it fixed, even with anaesthetic than have it get worse whicle you're preggers. Aren't tooth/gum issues risk factors for prem labour?
And hi to everyone else!
My DH has gone away for 5 days, I've family staying who will help but DH has been doing the night wake ups with my wakeful one year old and getting up at five with her when she's up for the day. I'll be shattered by the time he comes home!
I asked the dentist if I could wait till the baby is born and she said if I want and jacked about pre term labour and she said thats only a risk with gigivitis... I took antibiotics when I was 10 weeks to get rid of the infection so the infection is gone.... And I also feel like she is just using me as a guinea pig cause she doesn't know what's wrong...she said if the root canal doesn't work I will have to get my tooth pulled and I will have to get an implant... This dentist also told me antibiotics won't kill the infection but they did... I'm having lack of trust... And I can't just find another endodontist she's the only one in town
Can you get an opinion from a dr or something? It's awful when you don't trust someone especially while your preggie
Thorz black and white with coloured baby shoes I think ;-)). I hope pinky ones!
I'm feeling brighter this morning but scared dh coming home is going to mean going through all the emotions again ;-(
Love u ladies
Northern how's the mutt?
I have my prenatal today but I'm pretty sure I will be seeing a fill in dr... Which is like talking to a brick wall...
Hubby has been avoiding my demand that we get rid of him (the dog, not the hubby!). I still hate the dog with a passion, if I wasn't pregnant I'd probably just hate him, but being pregnant with raging hormones, I'd prefer see the dog in the ground than in our house for another day (I know that's extreme, but I really really HATE him!)
I'm not an animal person and can imagine nothing worse than having to clear up puke and poo that isn't your child's ;-s
I'd use the preggie excuse and get rid of it now!!
Omg when I wasted with my first two we had our family dog I still lived with my parents and I couldn't handle him lol I hated him with the passion! And now when I think back I feel so bad for yelling and screaming at him when I was preg lol
I would never own a dog again tho. I'm not a dog person I don't like them
Lol I hate indoor animals!! I just feel like its adding another child/baby!! That is the LAST thing I need right now i already have a toddler that chews on everything and breaks everything and I'm gonna have to potty train!!i don't need a dog too! But my boys want one so bad so I told my oldest that when he is 12 we can get one, so he can take care of it! I want horses! I love horses and I know they area lot of work, i used to work at some stables! But they don't mess with your house and personal space!
I have two cats and they are very low maintence! Just feed them and DH cleans the litter box... Dog you have to worry about leaving the house for too long and stuff like that and yes it's like having another child to have a dog! I used to work in stables too :) I miss it
Thorz, I'm a horsey person too. I had to sell my horse quite a few years ago - he was a lovely boy! He was huge - 18hh!! A gentle giant though, but he was an ex point to pointer, so anything more than a walk in an open field meant he'd take off and hedges and fences certainly wouldn't stop him!
Miss him, but not all the work of looking after him!
Can't imagine fitting pets in! work, boys, guides, church commitments feel like I've got more than I can handle on at mo ;-s
Oh I can't wait until the day we can afford a few horses! I will spend all day with them while the boys are in school! Right now it isn't possible to afford them plus we live I the suburbs so no space for one! But once DH finishes his residency Im going to insist we buy a home with land!!
Guess I'm the odd one out here... we are a dog family lol. We used to have 3 but 2 passsed away from old age and our dog still living is in poor health :(. He's 13 and had a rough start in life (he's a rescue dog) but we have given him 11 years of love and the kids adore him. We'll all be sad once he's gone but I have to admit that with a 4th baby on the way I told DH I wanted to take a couple of years "off" from any pets before we get another dog. Here he is in his younger days with DS1... he is a big baby lol.

My biggest issue with dogs is that it's like a second child especially when they are young. If we would have had the dog before kids and already gotten through the puppy years then I wouldn't mind one! I loved my dog growing up!
