Nita - I am so sorry! But, yes, I agree about the false positives. Is more than likely nothing! Did they offer to do a blood test to look at baby's chromosomes? Because they're doing them in the US now for women who are AMA or have had a baby with a trisomy. I would think that they would offer the blood test, since it carries no risk. If you were able to get that done, then you would have a definite answer...and assuming it was negative, no worries for sure! Prayers headed your way.

The time at my friend's house was dearly needed.....the concerns for my brother's life and health are of top concern to me, but it was nice that my baby was important to them to ask/talk about as well. No real update on my brother, but he was airlifted to Vancouver tonight and we will have more to go on in the am. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts!!

I will be on in the morning to reply...my heart is heavy over my brother and I know that I will need sleep.

Nita...I just want to send you love, prayers and hugs over your baby....I know how it feels to be presented with tough news. ((((hugs))))

OMG why do they say girl? What does "reported" mean? Have they done a blood test or just noticed something new on the scans. Glad to hear that the baby has one good kidney - I know you will still worry but with one kidney he or she should be fine.

I posted somewhere else about how i really hope your brother is OK but the computer seems to have swallowed it. You have had such an awful time of late. You deserve a change in luck.

Nita, i also commented on your scan results and that got lost too. I hope that they can give you some answers. Are they going to give you another scan now? I agree with you that there is no point in doing the ammnio - the risk is small but it is there. Hugs and fingers crossed for you.

they are going to look for makers on my scans and check growth but nothing but amnio will tell me 100% which im not doing so not sure what other info i will get guess i will have to wait and see

no dont offer them here. You can get one done privately but costs £500 pounds OH has just lost his job so would rather spend any money we have on the baby then a test that wont actually change anything we will keep peanut no matter what

I didnt have the NT scan as they dont do them in my area its just the quad screen blood test at 16 weeks. they said my level of hormones were higher than they should. age and weight makes a difference aswell

From my understanding the combination of the NT scan and bloodwork at 12 & 16 weeks is WAY more reliable. LIke you said, so much can make you have higher hormone levels. But I still totally understand your decision on no amnio - we would have done the same ourselves.

yeah ive had 2 scans 1 at 6 weeks 1 at 12 weeks dating scan took no NT measurements

Went for midwife appointment on 29th July for the quad screen test and got to hear peanuts heartbeat. Got a surprise visit from the midwife on Saturday as peanut is high risk for downs syndrome 1:9 was the result ig ot so OH and i have had to have a good chat to see if we were going to have the amnio and as the result was not going to change anything we declined. Had an appointment today with a consultant who went through the amnio, why they wanted me to have it and the risk. We still refused the amnio. i would hate to be the 1% that loses their baby through miscarrige. i will now be consultant led care and will have more scans so they can keep a closer eye on peanut will have scans at 24, 28, 30 and 32 weeks. Peanut will be very much loved no matter what

So sorry about your results but as others have said it could be a false positive. I agree with your decision about the amnio especially if it isn't going to change anything for you. Good luck! Prayers for a healthy babyXOX

Sorry I'm on my phone and the pic is like 3mm wide, and I can't see signatures. How odd they give you a 12 week scan but don't take NT measurements. It's like 5 seconds extra! My understanding is also that the NT assessment isn't that reliable unless bloods and ultrasound are done together, here they don't even release your bloodwork until the NT scan is done because they believe they must be read together to be interpreted correctly.

Glad you aren't doing the amino when it could all well be fine.

Remember even 1:9 means there are 8 chances out of 9 that it is fine!

I know i think its strange other parts of the UK do them and i was expecting them to take the NT measurements but found out on the day of my scan they dont do them on the NHS in Wales apparently due to training issues

AFM - MaterniT21 and NT scan on Friday! Aaahh...getting nervous!

Just got a little news.....he is able to move toes, knees, etc...being airlifted tonight instead....and it looks like there is not a bed ready when he gets there.I should know more in a couple of hours.

Ladybugs-glad he has movement that it is great news! Also, after reading all your scan recounts I think you are seriously going to be another Thorz but for our group! You will know soon enough! You deserve some good news! Plus your attitude about all of this has really been so awesome! Fingers crossed for you and the "think pink" baby!

Rainbow-you must be getting very excited and nervous all at the same time. You should be getting your gender results about the same time I go in for my gender scan! Fingers firmly crossed for both of us!!!! Think pink!!!!

AFM-still nauseous today! Ugh Almost 18 weeks and I still get sick every single morning. By this time with both boys I was well past m/s and feeling great but not this time. Hoping its a sign of a pinky!

Soar....do you remember Thorz story on her baby girl's name? We have a very similar tale about our girl name....so it would be lovely to end up in the Thorz and beyond category!! I am not trying to get my hopes up too high, but it is hard not too :)

No word on my brother.....I have to believe that he is being safely transported down there as I write this and patiently wait for word of what is going on. He definitely appreciates the prayers!

Ladybugs-I do remember her name story! I like where this is going! Oh I so hope this is the silver lining of your story! Getting really excited for you and your family!!!!

Soar....I do want it to be the silver lining, the rainbow following stressful storms...but I have to be patient! That is the tough bit...I want to know now!!! :)

There are so many scans up and coming and I am hoping that there is an abundance of DG...but I feel so bad for those who are struggling with GD, especially after such amazing sways. My love and hugs goes out to those who are in the grips of GD. (((hugs)))

Ladybugs - Glad to hear your brother is able to at least move something! Will continue to pray. Yes, I agree with Soar...I think you are about to become our buddy group's Thorz! So exciting! When is your second 3D scan?

Soar - Yuck on the nausea. I am usually feeling better by now, too, and I'm not there yet. Although I don't have morning sickness per se, I am still feeling on and off nausea. Food aversions, too. Thank goodness I'm not throwing up! Hope you're feeling better soon...but absolutely hope it's a sign of a pink bean for you! What's your scan date? I expect to hear back between Aug. 20-23. Dreading it, though!

Myrainbowgirl...I waited for a reply from the offer of the free u/s....and still nothing! It is like all my news was given to me yesterday and I have to be super patient today!!
You can bet I really want picture proof of this baby's gender!!!

I'm having HORRIBLE sinus headaches. :(

Beadinmom - sorry to hear about your headaches - they are the worst! I'm feeling pretty decent but still completely exhausted! I still have to nap everyday when my boys are down for their nap or else I can't make it! I'm also still on my morning sickness medication. I'm 22 weeks so hopefully I can quit soon but I had to be on it for 30 weeks with DS2! Oh and can I just mention I'm feelin a little fat. I know I'm pregnant and should be gaining, especially at my starting weight but it's still a tough pill to swallow being a girl lol!

Yes, team green.. we had our 20 week scan to weeks ago and I was terrified to watch any of it! However, with all thats been going on in this group and people finding out their genders I'm getting tempted to find out!

Good luck with the scan and hopefully you get a nice nub shot (I avoided that too! LOL! I am so just delaying the inevitable!)

Meeks-I think our scan is the same day. Mine is August 27th too!

Today has been pretty good. Came home from teaching and saw that my toes look like sausages. Today was another not so exciting moment when I realized my (.)(.) are resting on my ever growing bump when i sit down. Oh man and I am just shy of 18 weeks! Something has got to slow down or I am in trouble. Anyone else able to do my new trick too? Someone please say yes!

Lol soar!!! I am almost 13 weeks and dh was laughing when I had a shower with ds2 last night because w both have the same massive pot bellies now.

My scan is only with my ob, I'll be 15 weeks... Not sure if I want him to look since he said boy at 11w. Maybe I should wait til the 20w scan?
