If you're severely deficient then yes please take it for at least 6 weeks daily before reducing.
Vit. D is an interesting supplement because it's fat soluble and your body is pretty good at storing it when it gets a chance. So you may actually be out of the woods already and can still reduce the dose of it if you so chose. You of course don't have to, but I do think it may help your sway to cut back to 3x a week.
I would also recommend getting 10 min. of sunshine on bare arms a day as some of us are just not great at absorbing it via supps and may need the boost from the sunlight.
