Sadie is now officially a sitting baby. She's been getting a stronger and stronger torso, so a couple of days ago I tried to sit her on the floor with a pillow behind her. She sat for 10 minutes before toppling over. Today she sat for 30 minutes playing with toys but then started looking tired so I picked her up. She's growing up too fast!
Flava - I have a Moby Wrap too, but I find now that Sadie's getting bigger I prefer a soft structured carrier. My favourite is the Beco Butterfly II. It's much better for baby's hips than something like a Bjorn, and you can wear your baby on your back as easily as your front. I love wearing Sadie on my back - I can do pretty much anything I need to get done around the house - cooking, cleaning, laundry - I even painted my living room walls and baseboards while wearing her last week! The best part is you get a bit of a workout while wearing them because of the extra weight you're carrying around.
Speaking of which, I've now lost 52 lbs since Sadie was born. I decided to set my goal lower than my normal pre-diet weight, and I'm almost there. I'm back into all but the skinniest of the clothes I was wearing last year while on LE diet.

Sadie is so big! Sawyer isn't even close to sitting yet. He falls forward. I can't believe they are so big already--time is just flying by! Weren't we all pegnant yesterday? That's how it feels.
I haven't tried putting Sawyer on my back yet either--I might try that later. It would really help if he would ride that way!
Flava, congrats on Benjamin rolling over!

She's so cute!!
p.s. congrats on the awesome weight loss, Mocha!
-
Mocha-that pic is awesome she is really so cute! :agree:
I thought of putting baby on my back but never tried. Well did with DD4 but could not. Only tried this "African " style you know when you wrap you baby in a peace a cloth or what and put him up like that. Well can't do it lol. This Beco is expensive so it's better be good , right? (at least for me a 180$ is a lot) And what if he don't like it? hmm I love to try it for sure.
Grats on the weight loos!
No more BF for us :(:SS: so no I try to loose it too. I guess I put on a ticker for inspiration lol
I will try the juicing .Watched a lot of documentary about plant base diet and such I would love to switch to that .Well see if we can or not. But eating a lot more veggie and fruit already! omg i had no idea how meat and animal product is so bad for us !
hobber- sure they grow up fast when we are looking back! Not when we are in it every day go so slow lol
My baby is pulling his head up too when he is like half way sitting . Im sure we are far away from that but he already trying to sit up so funny.
-
The thing about the Beco butterfly that's great is the internal harness. You can fasten your baby in then hoist him or her onto your back. I was never good at balancing my baby on my back while securing a wrap - this is sooooo much easier.
Do you have any baby stores nearby that would sell them? One near me will let you bring your baby and try all the carriers out before you buy. You can also try to find a used one. I got mine used for about $90 three years ago. The sites babywearer.com and diaperswappers.com have lots of used carrier listings.

We only have babyrus and not even to close to us. But we are going there this week so I will see what they have.

Mocha, Sadie is so dang adorable!! Enjoy every second of her!!
Lillian is not able to sit up on her own a lot. She still sleeps more than I remember my other two sleeping, but she's doing well at her pedi visits, so I'm assuming everything is going well, since she passes all the milestones. She's trying to learn to crawl though and can move her away around the room by just rolling a lot, and flipping from stomach to back. So I guess those are the skills she's worried about mastering right now.
Her and all my kids and hubby and I have been terribly sick with a nasty cold. She's got such bad congestion she coughs really hard and sounds terrible...poor baby! She had a fever too for the last two nites so I keep giving her infant drops to reduce it.
Although this is not in the works for a few years, I'm still torn about whether I even want a 4th or not. I really thought I did when I was pregnant with Lillian. I really had this beautiful dream of having my 4 kids (I like even numbers!) and maybe even having a 2nd DD. Now, I'm like so tired, too tired to care about having another girl, or another boy one day. I guess it's because I've got two diapers and DS2 is still so hard most days. He'll be two next month, and I'm praying it will calm him down even more. The frustrating part with him is he understands us well but chooses not to listen. He drives me nuts! DS1 is most of the time easy but when he gets in his whiny moods that's also ear-gratingly annoying. And then Lillian can sometimes be an angel or sometimes really hard to handle.
Unless something changes in the next two years, like we get a lot of money, and have a bigger house / car, I just don't see us adding a 4th. And that makes me feel a little sad, because I think deep down, I'd still like it. I just feel like there are so many obstacles standing in the way of it happening.
-
wow ladies so many post I can't read back lol
aurora- it really don't matter what our baby's doing now by the time they are around 1 they all walk and do the same things right?
We had the 4 month check up he was 14.14 and 26 inch long.
Still want me to hold him a lot no fun for my back.
-
Hi everyone. Lovely to read how you are going. I tried to type something a few weeks ago on Tapatalk and then I accidentally deleted it and then we got sick for 2 weeks. It was just a horrible cold but it is not fun having a little nose breather who is all stuffed up is it?! Hobber and Auroara, it sounds like your babies have had more then their fair share of illness already. Lets hope it gives them a good immune system for later on (but it is horrible at the time). I put off getting Sasha's 4 month vaccinations until tomorrow as last week she was not 100% better.
I also managed to fall over while carrying Sasha when we were sick. I was walking to collect DS1 from school and also had DS2 with me as he was home sick from school. I managed to trip over DS2 and was suddenly flying through the air. In that split second I also felt like Sasha was being flung out of my arms so I had to yank her towards me, take the fall heavily on my knees and then roll onto my back so Sasha ended up on top of me. It was weird how quickly it happened and yet how I was very aware of trying to protect her. Somehow DS2 avoided getting bowled over altogether. One of the school dads was nearby and helped me up and I had to get some dressings from the office to patch up my very badly grazed knees (they are still recovering 3 weeks later!) The next night Sasha was screaming and totally miserable. I realised I had never heard her scream before and in the end I had to give her baby pain medicine (which did help). I had to do the same thing 2 days later. I was due to go to the chiropractor so I took Sasha with me and mentioned that I had fallen and was pretty sure I yanked Sasha as I fell, so she didn't hit her head. Sure enough the left side of her neck had seized up and the chiro was able to massage it out (they don't do anything rough on babies) and she has not screamed since. It is so nice to have my healthy, happy girl back. For 2 weeks she was too snotty and tired to do anything except feed and sleep. Now she is back to giggling and 'talking'.
Auroara, so many things can change. Just take one day at a time for now and see how life pans out for you. We were only ever going to have the 2 boys and then we moved to the other side of Australia, DH had a different job, I wasn't working, and a few other things meant that I started looking into swaying and having another baby. You have a lot going on right now, including juggling your job and family, not to mention dealing with a sick family which makes everything so hard. I'm sure things will settle down enough at some point for you to reach the right decision on baby #4.
Time for me to try some of the chocolate/coconut slice I just got out of the oven. Not long until Easter. Have any of you got plans? We do an Easter egg hunt for the kids and are going to my parent's house for lunch. I love chocolate!! Sasha will have to wait until next year to have some (or get it in my milk)! Take care all of you.
-
Wow, Peony, you must have amazingly quick reflexes! How awesome that you were able to save your baby girl from falling like that! I'm sorry you got hurt in the process, though. It sounds rough to have been sick for so long, and then hurt! :( I hope you are all fully well soon. I didn't know you could take a baby to the chiropractor, but it's great that they helped Sasha!
I thought we were finally getting to the end of the sick season here, but then last week the little boy I watch threw up in my car (yuck!). I am hoping no one else gets it.....we all had the norovirus in January. The stomach bugs are terrible!
DD2 turned 3 today. We had a little family party for her and I made her a banana cake shaped like an Owl, at her request. It tasted better than it looked! She is still a complete terror most of the time, and destroys pretty much everything we give her, so all we got her for presents were a ball, a mylar balloon (which she took in the bathtub and tried to pop), and a pack of sidewalk chalk. I feel bad not getting her something nicer, but like I said, she would just wreck it anyhow. She's like that character Wreck-It Ralph, if anyone has seen that movie?
-
Flava, Benjamin is getting big!
Auroara, you can wait until Lillian is older to decide on #4; just try to get through this stage. THings aren't always going to be this busy, and when it settes down, you may or may not want another baby.
-
Ha! forgot to comment on aurora and another baby thing lol well I would not have another for sure but that's just me. Im also so so tired and it's just to much work . Don't get me wrong I love my kids and have my boy now but 5 kids and no help yeah...
Maybe for you aurora things will be easier later on and you ttc again.
hobber happy BD for your little girl! Kids are happy for every little thing so don't worry we don't have to buy them all fancy toys!DD4 is also 3 years old ahh they are just so cute right?
It reminds me I read lot's of posts on IG and here too how ppl are ignoring baby boys and always comments on girls (especially when they are little) how cute and pretty they are. That is true for my girls but now that I have a baby boy the same thing is happening. Strangers are stopping me all the time in the store to say how cute is he what pretty eyes he got , a very handsome baby boy ect. So I don't see any difference at all?
-
People say babies are cute, no matter the gender--that's been my experience too, Flava!
DD2 is already living up to the "trying 3s" today. She refused to get ready for dance class, then fought me at nap time.... ay yi yi!
-
Hobber, if there is one thing worse than cleaning up your own children's body fluids, it's cleaing up someone elses! I hope the rest of you avoid any more illness. Happy Birthday to your DD. It is so exciting at that age, I am sure she was thrilled with all the fun of the day. I think kids have too many toys these days anyway. I am sure I could throw out half of what my boys have and they wouldn't even notice. She sounds like such a lovable monster, reminds me of my DS2.
Flava, we won't be having anymore children either. I am very content with my bunch and love being able to give Sasha heaps of attention while her big brothers are at school.
When DS1 was a baby I was always getting told "Oh what a beautiful girl"! It didn't matter what he was dressed in, he was still mistaken for being a girl. He still has quite a pretty face! DS2 didn't get as many comments from memory, or maybe I didn't notice as I was more busy. Sasha gets plenty of attention and is quick to give everyone smiles. I just like how happy other people become when a baby smiles at them.
-
Peony- If i would have my way I would have 2G1B lol but things didn't worked out that way.
That fall must have been scary ! good thing everyone is all right! Huh I wanted to comment on this last time and had to log out. Barely have any time to sit here and the I forget half I wanted to say lol
How can you eat chocolate ? I eat so little now and no matter what just not loosing weight grrr .Im really thinking I have a problem some sort?
How is your weight loss going?
For Easter we don't do nothing because we are all alone. No family or friend around. So we paint eggs with the kids and then when the bunny comes he drops chocolate everywhere and the kids find it all on the morning. And they all get a small toy too .That's it.
-
hobber-sorry for that poor little boy! And for you for the cleaning.
Im also sick again with a cold. I think we get it from DD3 she is sick none stop for like 3 months now. Not bad just have to blow her nose all the time and some coughing but it's just not going away. So I think I will take her to the doc to see why is she not getting better .
-
Yes, cleaning barf is the worst! Luckily, the little guy's mom offered to clean the car seat, so all I had to do was clean up the area around where it was, which only had a little puke on it.
Flava, I hope your littel girl gets better soon! I wonder if she has a sinus infection? I bet it couldn't hurt to take her to the doctor.
I have been having this weird heart beat sound in my ear, so I am being sent to have an MRI on Monday. Hope it's nothing!
-
Oh hobber i hope it's nothing too! What do you think it is?Im so stressed out all the time sometimes I think it's a wonder I don't get a heart attack already. Like I hate to cook in the hurry with a baby crying behind me to pick him up! Ugh ! And because I can't stand to listen to it I and up holding him and cooking with 1 hand . not ideal
-
Flava, I don't know what it could be--the doctor says it is common and that a lot of the time it is nothing, but it could be an aneurism! That's why I am getting the MRI. I am pretty worried. :worry:
There is a cook book called The One Armed Cook! I have it. It isn't fantastic, but it has some ideas. I use our crock pot a lot--right now I have chicken and green chiles cooking for tacos tonight.
-
I just cooked Irish white bean and cabbage stew .it's the first time i tried to make it. Not bad .
Your dinner sound s good lol!
DH says he don't really like food cooked in slow cooker because it taste different for him. well thanks...anyway we had one only used it once or twice I don't even remember what we cooked or how it tasted but that's what he says.
I wish I have some great recipes to this and try it again but the thing is I don't even know what to cook in it!
-
I have that all the time Hobber, it can be caused by a lot of different things. (i also had MRI to rule out anything bad).
-
Oh another thing. I try to put baby on my back but he hates it!! He is just screaming bloody murder till I take him off! Same was with DD4. (did not tried with the other girls)he only like it on the front .
So all this ladies on youtube and all make it look so easy to do and comfortable for baby but it's not like that for us.
I have no clue how ppl in Africa and Peru ect. do this every day and all their babys love it?
-
That sounds good! I would make cabbage stew!
There are a bunch of slow cooker recipes that are great. I have the Fix It and Forget It cook book, and I use it a lot. You could look on line too. I wonder why your DH doesn't like the taste?
-
I love the name of that book haha will google it for sure next time I can sit here!
-
Hey Ladies!
Hobbers I hope everything is ok, but it's good you're getting it checked out!
Flava, sorry to hear about DD3 being sick.
When I was actively trying to lose weight, nothing worked. I stopeed trying for now (it's too crazy to excerise with the kids around) and I've lost 5 lbs just from I guess just for not gorging out on chocolate and the like.
Out of nowhere, my mischevious son, DS2, who turns 2 next month, has become an angel. Of course now that I say that, he's going to return to a bad boy probably (*snickers*), but I can't believe how well-behaved he's been the last while. It's insanity!
Lillian's been cranky and then good. I found my digital camera (it was lost since Jan) and I'm going to start uploading more pics eventually, once I get more shots. Just in time for Easter too! I've been taking pics on my cell phone, but quality isn't as good as actual camera.
Just checking in!
-
aurora-good thing your DS2 is such an angel now! I wish i loose some weight just like that too but it's not working.
With my other babys when I stoped BF-ing I just lost lot's of weight by doing nothing. But this time it's like glued on me or something.
Can't wait to see all those pics!

Hi everyone! Just seeing how all you lovely ladies are doing!???
I am going very well. Oliver is eating solids and doing great with them , He has breakfast lunch and tea and 3 bottles a day... He does still wake at about 3 or 4 am for a bottle but that is not a big deal to me really considering how far we have come !! If everything keep going along like this I will most def try for a 3rd baby maybe when Ollie is about 2 I will see how things are then but the was time is flying by Oliver will be 2 before I know it! He sits by himself for about 10 seconds and then falls to one side so I think he should be sitting by himself in the next month or two. He is a very happy baby but when he cracks he CRACKS!! lol which I find great because at least he has alot of personality!
My brother and sister in law had their first baby the other day which is a girl and oh my what a beautiful baby girl and yes I am very jealous at least I can admit it ( not to the obviously) But all I can do is hope that one day I will get my girl. I cant complain about my boys they are so gorgeous and I love my family id just love to add a girl in there somewhere and I would prefer it to be next time around so i know I have her!!!! No harm in wishing hey!
-
Happy Easter everyone! My boys got a ridiculous amount of chocolate eggs and bunnies. Sasha has to wait until next year. The boys told her she would get hers in my milk!
Oh wow Pinkin, they are just stunning!! You are sounding so much happier, it is great that things are coming together for you. It is exciting that you are considering baby #3 again. I wondered if the itching would deter you. Hopefully the medications keep improving also between now and then, or even better, maybe you won't get it next pregnancy!
Flava, I seem to lose weight when I stop BF too (in the past). And I think it coincides with me having more time for myself, exercising more and not being as hungry as I am when I am BFing.
Auroara, hooray for DS2. FX this is a turning point!
Hobber, I get that heart beat thing too. For me, it seems to be related to when I get dehydrated and I think my blood pressure drops, but as AS said, it is worth getting looked at as there are so many causes.
My heart played up when I was BFing DS2 but has been a lot better this time around. My body did not handle the sleep deprivation well and the stress of 2 kids under 2 I imagine. No issues this time around with my once a night feeder (or none at all sometimes). Sasha got a cough a week or so ago (DH brought it back after working away I think) and although she doesn't act sick she has a very hoarse voice. She makes more of a hoarse squeak when she grizzles. She is very impressed with herself at the moment as she is learning to blow raspberries and pokes her tongue out all the time.
Still trying to do things to our house to get it the way we want it. Outdoor setting arrived last week. New tv mounted on the wall and getting a granite surface on the balcony BBQ area in a couple of days. The main thing I can't wait for is to have some more cabinet work done for the kid's toy storage downstairs and in the pantry upstairs, but a few more weeks until that is done. And of course the whole place needs a good tidy as always! I need to go through and declutter but finding the time is tricky.
-
pinkin- your boys a re so sweet! How old is Oliver ? he is very cute! Is that a car seat he is sitting in?
Congrats to your brother ! Im sure his baby girl is not prettier the Oliver!
Benjamin is still spitting up a lot a the doc said again to add rice cereal in his bottle.it may or may not help. Well again Im not doing it. Im not even going to feed him that ever lol (only she don't know that yet I tell her later) She also said we can start feeding solid food (start with rice cereal of course ) but I think I wait more. And will start with fruit and veggie one day . Not sure when.
How did everyone else started??
Still teething but no teeth yet. It's making me crazy! Im happy there is no teeth but he is drooling and not feeling good and chewing on his hand all the time. (don't want to chew on anything else and hate cold stuff!) And want to be held all the time of course. I wish I can put him down and he looks around and play alone just for a little , but no.I never had a laid back baby . Maybe it get's better once the teeth is out...but again they are coming all the time after the first lol
Good thing is he still sleep at night!
peony-your house sound lovely! I also could use more cabinet place for sure! Hope Sasha get better soon! That cough sounds scary.
-
Pinkin, your boys are gorgeous! How is Oliver's reflux? It's nice to hear that you are considering another baby, and hopefully you will have an easier pregnancy than you did with Oliver!
Peony, Sawyer figured out his tongue and raspberry blowing recently too. Funny, isn't it? Good luck with the decluttering--I need to do that so badly too! My house is a wreck!
Auroara, you are so lucky that your DS2 is getting easier! I wish my DD2 would. She seems to be getting worse in some ways!
Flava, I haven't started Sawyer on solids at all. He will be 6 months tomorrow, but I haven't even thought about it. He spits up all the time, tons, but I don't know if cereal would help?
-
I started Oliver on solids at about 4 1/2 months he has been going really well with it. He has wheatbix in the morning for breakfast , fruit for lunch and vegtables for tea.. Finding he sleeps alot better aswell because he is such a big boy he is always hungry I have also noticed his reflux is so much better he is no longer on Losec since he has been eating solids.
flava. Oliver will be 6 month in 6 days cant believe how fast it is going!
-
That has gone so fast Pinkin and Hobber. But what a gorgeous age.
Mocha talked on here ages ago about "baby-led weaning", which really interested me. My boys hated being spoon fed and it is about the baby feeding themselves finger food when they are ready. So I bought the book and plan to try that style out this time. Sasha is such a relaxed baby that I think it will suit her. She isn't looking remotely interested in food yet, so I imagine it will be around the 6 month mark before she is eating with us. What a relief that Oliver's reflux has settled now Pinkin. It sounds like you are doing exactly what he needs to be a happy boy. At the end of the day Flava, I would do whatever works for you and Benjamin. You know him better than anyone else.
-
pinkin-my baby is 4 1/2 months now and hungry a lot lol. The thing is I just don't want to add rice cereal in his bottle just because it maybe helps .He also has reflux and the doc said it can go on up to 9 months. I hate it.
He burp on us all the time and when he turns on his tummy he burps on everything else .And he always turns on his tummy...
Ummm what is tea? Like he drinks tea or is that food time at night? (like my DD4 says lol) we say dinner here. Or some ppl say supper too.
Oh Benjamin drinks chamomile tea sometimes. The doc said he don't need any drinks but i give him sometimes between feedings when he looks thirsty.
peony-I have no clue about baby-led weaning. So if babys start on finger food right away then how do they know to chew it swallow ect. if they did not eat pureed food or anything else before? It's interesting.
You right Im sure we know our babys better then the doc. I know Benjamin is really interested in our food he is watching us eat and gets all excited smacking his lips kicking hitting , yelling for it ect. I guess it's just me who want's to wait not him lol.
-
I started Ollie on the baby gel but he didnt have much of that. i then had him try steamed pumpkin and I puree it up once it is cooked. So pretty much the pumpkin in what he started off with both of my boys I have started with pumpkin mostly because they were both a bit constipated but since eating Oliver is fine . He has a fair few different vegtables now at Dinner time but he has them individual but I mix them with mashed potato... So Broccoli and mashed potato... beans with mashed potato... pumpkin with mashed potato.... carrot with mashed potato...So he has only one each night. last night he had beans with the mashed potato it was pureed up nice and smooth. I add the potato to fill them up a bit as my boys are big eaters. I started Oliver at 4 1/2 months
-
Pinkin - your boys are gorgeous!
Sadie is now 6 1/2 months, and we've been doing solids for about a week and a half. We're doing baby led weaning, and it's going really well. What I love most about it is how much easier it is - instead of spoon-feeding the baby while my dinner gets cold, she feeds herself while the family all eats together. So far she's had banana, avocado, toast sticks, carrots, green beans, broccoli, hummus (I spread it on snack bread), hard boiled egg yolk, mashed potatoes, squash, and turkey stuffing. Basically, she eats portions of whatever the rest of the family is eating. She still nurses a lot and that is still her main food source, but she eats something with us for each of our three meals. Check out http://www.babyledweaning.com/ if you want to learn more about BLW.

That sounds great Mocha. What a great range of foods she is trying. It gives me hope for when Sasha starts in a couple of months or whenever she is ready.
Happy Birthday Auroara! Have a fabulous day with your gorgeous family.
DS2 has tonsillitis at the moment. It only slows him down briefly when his fever was super high. Now that he is on antibiotics he has been begging to go back to school!
I got a Thermomix the other day as an early 10 year wedding anniversary present. So far everything I have tried (and I've used it heaps) has been a huge success. I like being able to throw things in and walk away and do things with the kids and then 10-20mins later dinner is ready! Sure beats standing at the stove with a baby in my arms.
-
pinkin-good idea with the moshed potato I forgot all about that! Will try it when we start eating if he is to hungry.
-
mocha- I checked out this baby led it's so not for us .Or not for me lol Not because it's not a good thing or anything like that it's just I can't stand messy eating it's makes me crazy! So I feed the baby until he is ready to hold he spoon then we hold it together and he learns how to eat with it. Until then he eat alone finger food what don't make any mess like crackers , fruit ect. It's just how I do it.
peony- just what do you cook in this thermomix? have some recipes? Sorry about your DS2 hope he is all better now!
