Oh yes, I was extremely sleep deprived all weekend - forgot about that. My kids were up at least every hour in the night. At that girl's night in I went to on Saturday night, I fell asleep during the movie we were watching - it was very embarrassing! :oops:
Lol, my DH always falls asleep at other people's houses! All good for your girl sway though!
I don't know what to have for tea... I've had a stressful/busy day at work. Only my 2nd day back in the office after mat leave. I got home and my DH has gone off to his late shift at work now and left the house in a right state. He didn't put William down to nap at the right time and so that meant he completely missed his milk feed time and then has had that instead of his tea (so effectively he has missed a feed today), and I'm certainly expecting that he will now wake up tonight because he's hungry. So, anyway, I've got home and had to clean up after them both... bedtime routine starts in 5mins so I don't have time to cook/eat before that. I'm hungry, but at the same time I'm feeling depressed so I can't decide whether to eat the whole world or eat nothing at all. I was planning to have cream crackers + apple for tea, but DH forgot to do the grocery shop today so I have no apples and my cats have no cat food. I don't really have much I can eat in the house. Our milk has gone off so can't have a bowl of cereal.
What do I have?
Oh, I'm sorry you're having such a rough day, rainbow! Since I don't know what you do have in your house, I don't know what to suggest!
Oh dear rainbow, we all have those days! What DO you have? I'd probably grab something like jam toast/bagel and a cake or some sweets!

I have some pitta breads. I need to cook one for tomorrow for lunch anyway but they're getting so boring now especially as I have nothing to go in them other than philli and grapes (AGAIN!), we do have the crackers in the house. No jam as we don't tend to eat that normally. Plenty of baby food jars/pouches but noo way am I eating those even if they are low in sodium lol
I feel like Old Mother Hubbard today! (but with cats, and except that the cats have been fed some tuna now).
mango is bad for a pink sway isnt it? How I fancy eating some of those as we do have that in the house!
oh, I do have a frozen tomato pasta sauce, but I had pasta for dinner today so not sure I fancy that again.

Toated bagels are really good! I also recommend St Dalfour 'fruit spread' - ie. sugar free jam. The raspberry one is yum!

9pm: ground cherries, grapes and chocolate wafer cookies

Speaking about Italy, I had my italians inlaws over and now I am completely wondering how on earth girls get conceived there because my mil drowns EVERY single vegetable, pasta or meat she cooks in loads and loads of olive oil and salt!
(I know she´s not representative of the entire italian population and its the changes to persons routine that counts, but still)
I asked Atomic about the Italian gender ratio once because DH has work colleagues there who guzzle double espresso after double espresso - and she told me that they have more boys than average there because their diet is so fantastic for fertility! So, you're observations were right :DQuote:

rainbow - to make the rice/yogurt balsamic, I take 1 cup of cooked, plain white rice, add about 2 TBSP of plain fat free yogurt, then a squirt or two of balsamic for flavour. Sometimes I use lemon juice instead of balsamic.
I agree about garlic not being the end of the world - I tend to indulge in it a couple times a month at least, and I may up that to once a week if I have to continue this diet for a lot longer.
My brother married into an Italian family from Milan (they've since gotten divorced). It was a family of 3 girls, and I know that since then my former SIL has remarried and had another girl. One thing I'll say about the Italian diet is that they don't eat a lot of meat - in the north, at least. Pasta is always the main part of the meal, and meat is usually a tiny portion served as a side or as part of the pasta. My SIL used to think that our portions of meat - a big steak or a double burger - were vulgar.
When we went on holiday to Tuscany we ate nothing but meat (and lord only knows what type of meat - eek!). The thing hard to come by was potatoes!
Interesting - I spent a week in Tuscany about 10 years ago, and I barely had any meat. Then again, I was travelling on a student budget....

That's funny, that's when we were there too! We'd go to this restaurant where there was a set menu and we had no idea what the food was - they'd just bring out a big jug of wine and plate after plate of meat!!Quote:

Montepulciano at the time was pretty rural (since they filmed the Twilight movie there I think it's become quite a hot spot). I remember NO ONE there spoke any English - even at the little tourist office we found off the main square. I think it was more a tourist spot for Italians. Anyway, as I said we were travelling on a student budget, so that could explain the meat discrepancy.
By the way, DH and I had our honeymoon in 2003 too, but we travelled around France instead of Italy.

5:30pm: veggie quesadillas made with my no salt rice/black beans/tomato/cilantro concoction from a couple of weeks ago + cheddar cheese on corn tortillas with some fresh salsa and plain yogurt, chocolate wafer cookies
9pm: light vanilla ice cream with strawberries, green grapes, 2 digestive biscuits, low sodium chips
Tonight I'm going to a pizza party and my boys' school. I won't be able to avoid eating at least one slice of pizza, but will I be able to stop there? I doubt it. Tomorrow night I'm volunteering at the locak twin association's used clothing sale, and they'll be giving us pizza to eat there too. How can I avoid all this temptation??
I wouldn't worry, mocha, you're in the 2ww and you might be pregnant!! If not a few bits of pizza won't do you any harm, enjoy!!!

The pizza only puts me over the limit for sodium. At 500mg per slice, even if I've eaten no sodium for the day, I end up at my limit with 2 slices. Today I've had 100mg of sodium, which means 2 slices put me over the limit! My protein should be fine, though, and I think that's the most important thing. The hardest part will be eating enough calories without adding to my sodium - with what I've already eaten today + 2 slices of cheese pizza, I've only had 1000 calories! Maybe I'll have a full sugar pop with supper then some candy when I get home.
Sounds like a good plan! I've gone over sodium today, I think occasionally it's fine, it wasn't my attitude in the beginning but after all this time on the diet sometimes we need some wriggle room!
I'm back from the pizza party. I managed to stop myself after two small pieces - it wasn't very good pizza anyway, so that helped with my self control. All they had to drink there was water, so I didn't have the chance to add to my calories during that meal. So far for my snack tonight I've had a can of regular Gingerale, a couple apples and some Fuzzy Peach candies, but I'm still only at 1400 calories! Even the Gingerale and the candy have some sodium, so now I'm waaaay above for sodium, and still don't have nearly enough calories!
7am: coffee
10am: cappuccino (at a friend's house - it felt so naughty!)
12pm: rice with yogurt and balsamic, grapes, chocolate wafer cookies
6pm: 2 slices cheese pizza
8:30pm: gingerale, Fuzzy Peach candies, 2 apples
OMG! For fun I just typed a typical day's food pre-diet into FitDay, and I couldn't believe the numbers - 2600 calories, 99g of protein and 4000mg of sodium!!! This was just for a bowl of cereal, 4 slices of whole grain bread with a mix of tomato soup and melted cheese on top (rarebit - a comfort food from my youth), and 4 slices of cheese pizza for supper. This was just for 3 meals with no sides, desserts or snacks in between, which I would never normally do. I imagine once I added that stuff in I'd easily break 3000 calories and who knows how much sodium. I'm in shock. If you'd asked me before the diet if I ate well, I would have admitted to a weakness for snack food but would have said in general I ate moderately. And yes, 4 slices of pizza is a lot, and I don't eat pizza every night, but I do tend to eat huge portions for supper. I also can't believe the amount of protein when I didn't include any meat in my sample diet.
No wonder I lost weight so fast when I started restricting these things. I think I might continue keeping track of my nutrients even after I'm done with the diet, because that amount of calories and fat can't be good for anyone....
Wow! That's interesting to know! I think I will still return to my pre sway diet, I felt a lot healthier before!

Today was a very strange day. This morning my cat got quite sick, and I had to bring her to the vet. She's spending the weekend there, and they don't know if she'll get better. Then tonight I volunteered setting up the twin club's used clothing sale. it was 6 hours of solid manual labour, and I'm EXHAUSTED! They said they'd feed us pizza at 6, but they didn't bring it until 8! All I'd had was a tiny bit of rice at noon and I'd been there working since 3, so I thought I was going to die!
7am: coffee
12pm: rice with yogurt and balsamic, fruit creme cookies
3pm: apple
8pm: 3 small slices vegetarian pizza, Pepsi (full sugar)
10pm: 2 nectarines, Sour Patch Kids (I know it's soon to eat again, but I need to try to add some calories!)
So now I have the same problem as yesterday: sodium's too high, calories are too low.
Oh, and I forgot to mention tomorrow I'm going to another girls' night in. Luckily, there'll be no pizza this time, but there will be tons of snacks, including homemade guacamole, which I low (I know - big no no). It's going to be really hard to resist all the food that will be there.
Sorry about your cat mocha x FWIW, I think keepin your blood sugars low is the main thing in the 2ww and if you're going to eat guacamole now is the best time!
