It's ok ABC, most people have already had them and just don't get them very often. When you're pregnant your immune system is suppressed a bit and it can cause them to flare up.
I actually have a thread where I (inexcusably and unprofessionally) get into an argument with some people about this, LOL. Read it if you dare!!! https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum...-disorder.html
According to my research it is only a problem if you're just giving birth right when you have caught the virus for the first time (so third tri for sure, likelier still late in the 3rd tri) and then the baby is born sick or contracts it right after giving birth (this is a concern when women get the virus in the hospital, from health care workers, which has sadly actually happened) and can't fight it off. But if you've had the virus for a while your baby will have your immunity for at least 6 months if not longer and by then baby will be old enough to fight it off.
The reason why the words c u b e and s t r e a m (this is ** out in many of my essays) are blanked out is because there are a couple of clinics that go by that name in countries in which gender selection is illegal. We try to avoid their notice because there is concern that if they get wind of any particular person who is doing IVF/PGD with a preferred gender, they will refuse to tell them the gender of their blastocysts. There is kind of a wink, wink, nudge, nudge system in place where they'll tell you what the genders are and then let you pick the one you want, which is not gender selection per se.
But if they have incontrovertible proof that we are using that system to do gender selection, we fear they will refuse to tell anyone the gender and let them select their DG (and this has sadly in fact happened a couple times, the doctor just decides "I'm not telling these people the gender" and then they've gone through the entire expensive IVF/PGD procedure only to get another of the gender they already have)
We used to just try to tell people "don't say the name of the clinic" but then people still did, we'd get newbies who didn't know better still using the clinics' names and so we decided that we'd just blank out the word totally so as not to attract their attention.
I know it's annoying but there is a higher purpose to it. :)
BBB... I am dying.
ABC, I don’t get cold sores BUT I get these annoying deep cuts in the corners of my mouth that are painful and ridiculous. They almost appear like a cold sore but they are not. I’ve found that oil helps a ton. Chapstick type things were pointless for me but the oil helped a ton. I mixed it with a bit of a healing essential oil, I think Frankincense.

Thanks atomic!! Yea that's largely what I saw when Googling it as well - that it's a bigger issue late in pregnancy/after baby is born. But then I found a few random things that would say things like "if you have it for the first time it COULD cross the placenta and cause harm/miscarriage". But that doesn't seem to be proven or at least it's not what most medical websites say. Anyways - like you said I've probably had the virus and just haven't had symptoms. Do you know if a blood test can tell if I've had it in the past? I know there are different types of antibodies for some viruses that can show if an infection is recent or old.
Anyways - I'm not even sure though that it is a true cold sore... Looking at it again it seems like everything is more on the inside of my lips versus the outside and then I've got ALL kinds of soreness on the inside of my mouth. And now my throat seems to be hurting a bit and one gland on the side of my neck feels sore. I don't know what's going on. It really feels like I have some sort of virus/illness going on but I really have no idea. I guess it's good I'm seeing my doc tomorrow anyways - I'll just have my full blown freak out to him and see what he thinks! :)
Abc I had awful dry sore lips and loads of ulcers during the first trimester! I was fugly LOL
Your dates are almost identical to mine (AF on May 1, ovulated May 14). Ugh... I wish this whole pregnancy thing wasn't so hard and confusing sometimes :( Praying it all turns out well, and that you have more clarity on Monday. It seems positive that there was a HB but the measurements being so far behind is still strange for sure. So many hugs to you right now! Hope you are at least able to get some good rest.
I don't think there is a nub in either pic :) Whatever that is in the lower pic sticking out (maybe what you are thinking is the nub?) could be the cord maybe? It doesn't seem very nub-ish to me though.
Sorry that they have you worried with the nasal bone thing - I'm sure it will be OK but I'm glad you're getting the NIPT to be certain!
Thanks girlsway. Weird pregnancy stuff sucks :(
I think it may actually be oral thrush. I did a good look today with a flashlight in my mouth and I have multiple raw spots and some white stuff in areas. I've been reading about the symptoms and it seems to fit pretty well with what's going on in my mouth (and apparently things like hormone changes/pregnancy can cause it). I never get vaginal yeast infections so seems kinda weird that I'd suddenly have it in my mouth but who knows. I've also been eating all the foods they say can contribute to it :( (stupid carbs!). Anyways hopefully doc can give me an answer tomorrow, and hopefully there will be two healthy babes again on ultrasound. I both look forward to and complete dread these ultrasounds now.
