you have your cycles back already?
BF itself lowers oestrogen and testosterone (which is why you might not get AF at first/lower CM), and also soon after pregnancy your nutrients will already be lower and BFing gives your nutrients to LO too.
So whilst milk is your baby's main source of food I think BFing sways really strongly if you can get pregnant then
BFing makes you less fertile by messing with ovulation, luteal phase, and drier CM (for some people)
vitex "regulates hormones" and can lengthen luteal phase, but can also mess with OV making it either more regular if you were irregular, or irregular if you were already regular
vit B6 can lengthen luteal phase
I had a severe luteal phase defect whilst BF so at 1 year I took vitex and vit B6 to lengthen it. It went from 5 days up to 12 days in 2 cycles and night-weaned at the same time down to 2 feeds a day
it might do a bit, but if you have such a severe luteal phase defect that you can't conceive you can't get a girl either! and I think if you're deficient in the majority of nutrients then taking enough of a few won't do any harm (for example folic acid, we take excessive amounts of that without blinking sway-wise)
Thank you! It's so hard to make decisions about any of it isn't it. I got my period back early after both kids. I know that it was only 6 days between ovulation and getting my period and normally my periods are regular, give or take a few days. Think I will see how long my next luteal phase is and then take it from there.
as you reduce feeds it should lengthen a bit on it's own. When will you be TTC?
We were hoping to start in March with the expectation it will prob take a few months as I think we will do a cut off and gradually creep closer and closer to ovulation. I didn't realise luteal phase length corresponded with how regularly you are breast feeding, that's very interesting.
the more you BF, the more it negatively affects your hormones... that's the simple enough reason! as soon as you night wean your fertility will increase more, and then more again when you replace daytime feeds with food
Does anyone have anymore diet tips? I'm hungry! :-)
Does pumping act like reduce feeds? I've not ovulated yet and my ovulation sticks don't even look close so think I might not see Af for a while. Don't want to ttc until I've had a normal luteal phase.
Also uk ladies I was wondering how you check ph of cm? I got some strips on amazon but I can't get any colour out of them.
