DM - no offense at all! I always find it somewhat amusing when people say they want twins - they have no idea what it will be like. Two babies is very different from one - even if you have lots of kids and know a lot about babies. Twins turn your life completely upside down...unless you're JLo and have a team of nannies to help you take care of them. My twins were a wonderful surprise - nature's miracle...but hopefully it was a once in a lifetime miracle. :)
-
I hope I didn't offend you, I have a good friend that has twin boys and it pisses her off when I say I want twins lol, and I am sure it does other moms of twins too, I by no means think its a walk in the park, its tough, having 2 sick babies, their schedule getting off one awake while other sleeps vice versa, its not easy it all, kudos to all twin moms :) I hope you don't think bad of me, I babysit her boys sometimes and its definitely go go all the time and their just with me a couple of hrs, I know 24/7 is a challenge :)
-
No - absolutely no offense! Sorry if I offended YOU! I wasn't talking about you specifically - I must hear people say they wish they had twins about 10 times a day.
You also might be fine with 2 babies - every person's different, and you're a very experienced Mom so you likely have a much better idea of what it would be like. I just find in general women - especially first time Moms - don't know what it would mean to have 2 at once.
As I said, twins are wonderful - I just never would have chosen to have them. I was blessed with a healthy, full-term pregnancy and healthy babies, it's just that sooooooooo many women with twins end up with months of bedrest, preemie babies with lifelong developmental delays, and even worse. Seriously - of the many, many, many twin moms I know (I belong to a twin club), I'd say 90% had serious problems with either the pregnancy or the babies themselves. One woman I know delivered her twins at 20 weeks!

So...I went out dress shopping today for the wedding I have to go to in a few weeks. I brought a bunch of Size 0 dresses to the dressing room, and guess what? They were too big!!!! I had to get Size 00 instead - that's the size my friends and I used to laugh about all the time, saying that there's no way anyone actually wears them. Anyway, I found a lovely Mad Men-style dress in dusty rose, but I realised after I bought it that if I AM pregnant this month, there's no way it will still fit me 3 weeks from now!
-
Oh dear, I'm sure you'll still be over the moon and can just take it back if you get a bfp!!!!!
-
Wow mocha, 20 weeks?! My cousin and his wife had stillborn boy/girl twins at 26 weeks. It was, as you can imagine, absolutely devestating for them. They went on to have another girl and a boy (not twins!) but it's still hard for them all these years later.
I can't believe how tiny you are now! I do hope you get to take the dress back and exchange it for something to suit your developing bump!!
DH is away for work tonight so no doubt I'll be back later!
-
Yes - 20 weeks, and surprisingly the kids are ok. They're 2 now, and developmentally delayed (and about the size of 1 year olds), but they're healthy other than that.
I can't believe how tiny I am too. This is sooo not me. I still think of myself as a robust person as that's the way I've always been, so I find it strange when a salesperson comments on how tiny I am and how I might need a smaller size.
This is the dress I got, and it only cost $40 on sale!

(I might turf the flowered belt as I think it looked sleeker without it)
I figure buying it now might guarantee me a BFP...kind of like how it never rains when you remember to bring an umbrella along
-
Beautiful - I love the colour - but I hope you don't get to wear it. Sorry :D
-
Gee, thanks :p
With my luck I'll bloat up to the size of a whale with all the salt I plan on cramming in my mouth as soon as I get my BFP, and I'll have to wear a muumuu to the wedding!
-
That is such a cute dress, Mocha. I can't believe you got a OO - but I'm sure you won't get to wear it!
Good luck to all of the pink swayers this month, hope this is it for you all.
After being on the diet since May 1 and waiting to be able to eat again I find myself unable to eat and enjoy myself. I have been so sick since getting my BFP!
-
no mocha you didnt offend me :) i love the dress but I hope you get a bfp and will have to exchange for a bigger size ;)
-
that's amazing... are you sure they were 20 weeks? I thought the earliest recorded surviving baby born was at nearly 22 weeks? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...e-parents.html
-
Sorry you're feeling so sick, tweedle!
I'm in shock about the 00 too - before I started this diet I was a 6/8!
-
Dress is very pretty, mocha!
Tweddle, I've been on the diet since may 1st too!! Sorry you're feeling bad, hope it passes quickly and you can eat again!!
-
I started the diet May 1st too! I've lost 20 lbs since then, almost all of it in the first 2 months.
rainbow - I thought it was 20 weeks, but obviously I must be remembering incorrectly. I remember telling my husband about it and saying it was only halfway to term, so maybe it was a few weeks over 20, like 23? It's been a while since I've seen her and talked to her about it. I do know they were in NICU for 6 months.
-
Ok, since you all have that dress in your minds, I need some fashion advice. What shoes should I wear with it? The only closed-toed shoes I have are black - is that too much contrast with this dress? Should I wear nude pantyhose with it? The ceremony is outside on October 1st, and the weather here that time of year is very unpredictable (and cool), so my nude sandals won't work. For the outside portion I'll wear a wrap or something over it.
-
Hmm, tricky time of year! In summer you'd wear some pretty sandles! I think black shoes with nude pantyhose (that word is so much sexier than tights!) would be fine and you could accessorise to match.
-
It's really a summer dress, which is why I got in on sale. I just felt (hoped?) that the dusty rose colour would still be ok in the early Fall, especially since all the Fall clothes in the stores right now seem to be shades of purple and pink.
-
It's a good colour for a wedding, you'll look gorgeous :D
-
Hi all, it's a gorgeous sunny early Autumnal day here and it's making me feel so much happier (and more patient with the monkeys!). I hope you're all having good days too.
AF was due today and I'm having some AF type cramps. I'm trying not to let this worry me as I'm sure this has happened in past pregnancies and I still feel squiffy at the same time and have had sore boobs today (not a usual symptom of either AF or pregnancy for me!). I took an IC preg test last night and it was positive so I'm trying to just ignore the crampy feeling but it's hard not to panic!
Today my sister told me she is ttc#3. She already has a boy and a girl and I wouldn't switch places with her for the world because her life is not always happy (her DS has aspergers and her OH is an alcoholic who has hurt her in the past) but I so know she will get another girl and I'll get another boy! She is the only one who knew we were trying for a girl and she said she'll feel really bad if it works out that way. On a positive note, I may get another little niece even if I don't get my very own daughter!
-
Z - I always get period-like cramps in early pregnancy, so try not to worry about it!
That's nice that your sister's TTC - maybe you'll both have girls and the cousins will grow up as best friends :HH:
-
Gorgeous dress mocha! I'd say as long as you wore pumps, you could wear a few different colour options. Bronze would be nice too:) 00!!!!! I think I saw that size when I was 7 for about a year....LOL! If anyone will be wearing a moomoo to a wedding it'll be me! Im back up to 189 already:( ugh I'm starting a paleo/primal diet soon so I really hope it keeps the weight off me this time.
Z- I started to get my cramping bang-on 14dpo:) it been off and on since. Try not to worry! xoxo
-
I remember uncomfortable cramps in the beginning with all mine, I remember it being worse with ds4 I just knew I was m/cing him and went to the bathroom a million times llooking for blood and never did bleed or spot at all with him, very nerve wrecking 1st trimester though, my ob kept reassuring me it was normal
-
Z- I wouldn't worry about the cramps either - I have been cramping like crazy since the day after I Oed. I wonder if its related to the Vitex bc i don't remember the cramps being so intense with my other pregnancies.
-
Haven't been on in a while so stopping by to say hi.
Zanacal congrats on the bfp!
Swish, hope your O is normal this month.
Mocha great dress!
I am on cd 57 and still no O. Started vitex 2 weeks ago and my body seems to have been trying to o every week fir the past 3 weeks. Hope it is successful this weekend! I have increased my fat and calories to gain some weight so a little scared to make an attempt after gaining weight. Cross your fingers for me to O soon!
-
Thanks Chicky. So annoying for you, I really hope you O soon x
-
I know how you feel, chicky! Hope you ov or get af soon, xxx

I got the egg sign on my fertility monitor today, yay!!!! I'm so excited that I actually ov!!!! Aside from that things are not ideal, I planned to be really good with diet a couple of days before ov and maybe lose just 1 lb but I haven't been and last night I had curry!!!! (it was homemade and vegetarian). Dh and I think he has been releasing for 6 days but we're not sure!!! Plus ds2 had been uncharacteristically stroppy, throwing himself on the floor at the school gates so my stress levels have been up, oh well, anything I shall be very chilled with anything that is thrown at me today and I might even go for a massage when dh gets home form work. Wish me luck, fx we catch this egg!!!!!!!!!!
-
Oh wow swish, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you :D
Welcome dannikins, I'll add you to the list.
-
YAY Swish for ovulating! I have everything crossed!!
-
Swish go make that baby!!
-
Hello ladies, can I please join you this month, I know I am a bit late! Thankyou!
Just doing my first cycle ttc girl now, hopefully attempting tonight. It took ages to conceive dc2 so I have started ttc a bit earlier than I'd really want to assuming it will take us a while. But I am also praying for a healthy sticky bfp of course as it was so hard waiting last time. And of course praying for a girl!
-
Oh, swish, I'm so excited for you!!! Go catch that egg!!!
-
Oh, and welcome indigoviolet!
-
thanks Mocha  I remember you from the pink thread on IG about 3 years ago when we were ttc at the same time! Seems a long time ago now and we both have little boys to show for it lol! Hopefully this time we'll both get pink
-
I thought I remembered you and was going to ask!!!! Nice to have an old friend here - that was a fun group of ladies, and I'm still friends with a lot of them on FB. This is yet another great group of ladies - you'll enjoy it here.
I don't remember what your sway was like last time. I was one of those people who just tried to reduce sodium and took supplements - no wonder I got a boy!
-
Welcome indigo!
Thank you ladies!! The deed is done now all I can do is hope! I'm going for a facial this pm after a stressful morning at ikea, hopefully this will be relaxing!
Quick question - dh had been releasing solo until today when we dtd, should we dtd again tomorrow or will that sway blue since we've only dtd once, should we just stick with the one attempt? Thanks!
-
I'm no expert, but I think you might as well give it one more try. I know how desperately you want to get pregnant this time! We kept BDing past O just to keep our bases covered.
-
Oh, and congratulations on making it to the 2WW!!! :cheer:
