Congrats zem!!!
For our announcement, I made chocolate cupcakes, hollowed out the middle and put pink frosting inside. Then I re-assembled the cupcakes and frosted them white on top with pink and blue sprinkles. Then we told our boys that we had a special dessert. When I served it, I asked them, "He or she? What will it be? Take a bite to see!" The boys are so happy that they're finally getting the sister they've been asking for for years.
For my parents and siblings, we wanted to skype and cut into a cupcake to show them, but with us being stretched across three times zones (and my parents were out of town) and having various activities that night like Scouts, I just had to tell each of them on the phone. But they were all excited nonetheless. DH's family isn't into cute ways to announce, so we just called his parents and emailed his siblings. His mom was so cute... she said, "Oh, the girls are finally coming!" because she has fifteen grandsons and two granddaughters. This will be her third granddaughter.

Hi Ladies - sorry I've been MIA for a while. We've been very busy between traveling and appointments. So my u/s was terrible. I posted in the u/s forum about it but in a nutshell the tech was horrible and said she "forgot to look" for gender, and then checked again and said she "couldn't tell" but "didn't see a penis" when she was scanning before. I didn't even get any pictures and she barely spoke English. I'm going to ask my midwives to refer me for another scan so I can get some pictures and actually see a competent tech next time around. We'll see what happens. Anyway I'm feeling a little nervous but still feel confident I'm having a girl based on my early scan. I just wish the 18 week scan would have gone better. :(

I replied on your other thread babygirl4me.

Zem, yay!!!! So so excited for you!!! Good work. :) You guys are sweet about creative ways to tell. I just called everyone as I was going to burst with the news. I loved your picture, bythwe******!
Babygirl4me, so sorry to hear about your bad u/s. That is terrible. After my son was born we had a terrible u/s experience with him, loooong story but anyway I can't even imagine going through that on your 18 week scan. I did write a complaint about it. I would talk to your midwife for sure.

Babygirl4me- I'm so sorry. Don't these techs understand that this is an exciting, special time for the moms? They should try their best to make it a great experience!

That's horrible, so sorry for your bad US.... We have had some of those. Last pregnancy I fell down the stares at 34 weeks. That tech acted like I did it on purpose to hurt my little man!! She kept giving me these dirty looks, and when I would ask if everything with the baby was looking ok. She responded "well I hope you are happy, you still get to keep your baby"! What the heck! Anyways he was ok, had some issues with delivery with the cord, but other than that he is now perfect. This time I am so glad, we had the best tech, she even showed me things that I have never been told about on a US. I still have the bleeding spots that we have to watch, we are worried that they may restrict growth in the 3rd tri. So we will have to be keeping extra close watch on the baby. Hopefully nothing happens and they go away. Other than that baby looked perfect, can't believe she was 11 oz, wonder if that is true this time or not lol. Wow half way!! Only 18-19 weeks left for me. That is so crazy. I have so much to get ready for this little girl... Also talked to Dr. yesterday, we are planning on getting my second tubal ligation done about 5 weeks after she gets here. This time they are going to be removing the entire tubes, he said that if I get pregnant after that he will bow down to me lol. He said he has NEVER heard of anyone getting pregnant with having that much done. That's why I have to wait till 5 weeks PP because it is a harder surgery that will require more.. Not quite looking forward to that, but oh well I guess. Hope everyone is well!

Also to let everyone know its a girl, we are thinking of getting some non see through, non gender balloons. Putting pink sparkles/confetti or something pink in them, blowing them up and giving everyone one to pop. What do you guys think?
-
Sorry for your bad ultrasound Babygirl4me. It should be such an exciting time not a disappointment.
I think the balloons sound like a great idea Zem

Zem - I like your balloon idea and I was stunned to hear about your ultrasound horror story. I probably would have clocked your tech in the head. The nerve of that person!
