Need some TMI help please.
I'm very constipated, I haven't been able to go for 5 days now :(
I've been fairly constipated for a while now, I can only go every 3 days.
I've tried all the usuals, high fibre, prunes, nothing helps. When I do finally manage to go its painful :(
I've stopped the vitamins as well because I thought it may be the iron, but that's not been any help either.
Today I even went to the pharmacy for enama, and that did nothing either.
Should I see a dr? Could this cause any problems? Or should I just wait till my body is ready?
A huge one hun is cutting back dairy. Reduce heavily or completely eliminate (sorry for the pun). Try eating some pureed fruit and veggies. When my toddler gets a bit constipated I mash pumpkin or apple or banana and feed him and he comes right. Also try lots of water and even water or dilute your juices, or other drinks you consume. Hope this helps.
I have gone 5 days as well. I just try to at something to upset my bowels a bit, haha. I am currently in the 3 day boat and my tailbone issues always hurt worse because of it. It's normal for sure and I tend not to worry. If it goes more than a week I would call a doc though or if you become extremely uncomfortable before then.
Lassie this page has some great tips, Relief For Constipation In Pregancy i am in the same boat unfortunatly, its funny but not but i did a big one a few weeks back where i am sure i tore something inside and it was bleeding, now everytime i go it hurts so much, i dont really want to tell my doc, its embarrassing im just dealing with it :(
I do love my dairy violet, so i will cut it out. I've been having lower back pains as well (I normally don't) hadn't linked it to the constipation, maybe that explains it.
Cinns that sounds ouch :( I know what you mean about being embarrassed, when I went to the pharmacy today I was kinda whispering to the pharmacist, and look down in shame, and then he walks me over to the medications and gives me the enama, talking loudly, being ever so helpful and giving me instructions, asking me very specific questions, and then hands me some other tablets to take daily, being very descriptive with what the tablets do. There he was talking about anus, bowels, stools, straining and haemorrhoids, like other people would talk about their dinner plans, whilst I'm stood there red faced and wishing the ground would swallow me up whole :(
Poor you lassie the joys of pregnancy!
Have you tried boiled water with brown sugar it works wonders when my boys have been constipated. Xx
Oh Lassie I totally feel for you :( I had it baaad with DS1 & DS2 - both of them I was having to take iron for but this baby Im not having to take iron and Im ok in the poopies department so far (touch wood) I had to resort to an enema for DS2 as I was frightened I was going to push him out with my next poo lol I really dont know what works, nothing really did for me unfortunately :( I hope the no dairy helps, I didnt try that one.
Im scared of the whole wrong gender thing. Ive only had the 12 week and then the anatomy where they said girl (my Ob has had a look on her scan too but her ultrasound machine isnt as good as the other place) I also only had the profile shot as the confirmation shot of a girl but rummaged through my dvd to find the potty shots which I believe look pink. I will get my Ob to check again before my due date I'm sure lol
You have my sympathies Lassie, I've had it on and off too. I've found making sure I'm drinking plenty helps along with increasing fresh fruit, I've been told bananas can make it worse but can't remember why! Dates worked quite well with me too.
I used to use malt extract with the boys when they were babies, adding about a quarter tspn to their warm milk and that worked really well. Not tried it myself yet though.
If you don't get anywhere in the next day or so I would go to your GP, they should be able to give you something that helps.
Bimby - I'm sure you've got your little daughter in there try not to worry. I've pretty much accepted that I'm def having a boy this time its just other people that keep saying to me 'Oh they make mistakes you know'! and 'Didn't you see a potty shot, of well it def could be a girl!'. Doing my head in tbh!! I know there is always a tiny chance that the u/s is wrong, the picture got distorted or it was something else in the way etc etc but I think these days the chances are so tiny that it is pretty definite that what the tech says is right.
Do you get any more scans before you're due? x
I'm the same, we have a name picked out for him but I feel really odd using it when talking about "the bump" and I don't know why. He just gets referred to as "the baby" and my ds2 still keeps insisting it is a girl!! I think for me it is probably just getting my head around it, I always imagined I would have two boys and a girl and I think when we were ttc as I was swaying and saw the odds of having 3 of the same gender were less likely than having a mixture I probably convinced myself more than I realised that this one would be a girl.
