Also ladies can I ask, has anyone refused induction as a gestional diabetic? I had an appointment today and I'm a diet controlled and not on any meds for it but the doctor seemed to think they would induce me the week of my due date, I kept saying no I'm not happy with that and he ignored me, I'm just curious if anyone else had this and how they dealt with it especially as there is no given reason to do it.
My friend negotiated her induction to be later when she had GD. I think they wanted to do it around her due date but she said she wanted to wait until 10 days over. He ended up coming a day or two before the induction.
You don't have to consent to anything you are not comfortable with. It sounds like the Dr was very rude dismissing you like that.
Hi, just jumping on to say that the reason for induction at term with gestational diabetes is the increased risk of still birth; my friend is a midwife and I was talking to her about it as another mutual friend has GD. I hope baby comes along before due date for you x
Im on a computer so not sure why the pics dont show. I can see my own pics that i put up and can see the older ones that others post but the last few weeks i can.t
I just read this : he World Health Organization states this evidence for induction before 41 weeks’ gestation is weak, and induction before 41 weeks should not be suggested if gestational diabetes is the only medical issue. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines for gestational diabetes also do not recommend induction of labour before 39 weeks for women with well controlled GD. The evidence for induction of labour is neither strong, nor clear. A recent review looking at the evidence supporting indications for induction concluded there wasn’t strong enough evidence for induction of women with gestational diabetes. - See more at: Gestational Diabetes and Induction Of Labour - What You Should Know | BellyBelly
So fingers crossed I progress naturally and that I don't need any induction as there is no medical issues at present, I've just been travelling for like 24 hour on train and driving so I'm feeling pretty tired atm lols. On a good note I'm getting a lot of pressure and have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check the weight and all that so I definitely am feeling these last few weeks he he.
Good luck. Hope you don't need the induction if that's not what you want. I'm feeling like my body is gearing up to have this baby. Just lots of period cramp type contractions, more intense than before. Pressure down below, all that fun stuff. Hoping for a quick and safe delivery but time enough to get an epidural. :)
Goodluck pinkinthestars, hope bubs decides to come soon! Ps. The friend I mentioned who didn't want to get induced too early for her GD is also a midwife so I assume she was pretty informed about the choices she made.
Goodluck to you too pinkhelp... hope to hear some baby news!
