Oh yeah and if it couldn't get any worst at the party on Sat, my oldest sister (who I don't care for much) says to me "your bump is shaped like a basketball, are you SURE it's a girl?" She put stupid doubt in my head...and that's such a silly old wives tale!
I didn't know what to say but my DH said that the U/S tech was 100% sure and he saw nothing remotely penis like in that area! Go, go DH!

Yep I would trade that one sister for a brother anyday lol...the other sister is OK, she can stay a part of the family, lol.
Auroara its not true about basketball shape being a boy ,With my d/s I was tiny and at work some people didnt even know I was preg and I worked up until a week before my due date , after I had him they were in shock!
With this one I am growing the same way sort of more spread out thats what made me think it was a boy anyway but really would a certain gender make you grow different??? Some people say you get huge with boys and small with girls... I know someone that was preg with a girl and she was massive!!!!!
When I was pg with DS1 and didn't know what I was having a lady at the supermarket told me I was definitely having a girl as she looked the exact same way when she was pg with her daughter! Wrong! Shape is different for everyone. But no penis defo means girl!
Auroara, was your mum drinking at the party? She sounds highly emotional and irrational to me. I am guessing either that or crazy hormones. Unfortunatley family always know the things to say that will hurt the most, but it sounds like you did a great job.

Pinkin I have no recollection if I was told the size at 20 weeks but I do know that it is very difficult for them to give an accurate weight of a baby via u/s. I was induced with DS2 as they thought he was getting pretty big based on u/s and he was only 6lb 14oz.
With DS1 (I was 21 weeks for my scan), he was 15oz. I think up until about 24 weeks, all babies grow in different spurts. With this pregnancy, the tech didn't tell me.
Well boys are ready for school and nanny picked them up to walk them to school. She then coming back for DS3 and i will be off to my mums as she is coming with me today. So i will be bein scanned in 3 hours....eeek!!!

Hi ladies, im back and non the wiser unfortunately due to position of baby she was unable to see gender of the baby. She also showed me that cord was down there.
I have to go back for another scan in 3 weeks as she was also unable to see the heart valves due to pisition of baby.
I tried so hard to watch ever so closely when she was doing the scan, when measuring femur and couldn't see anything, we have a baby that just doesnt want us to know...im going to be going crazy for another 3 weeks now :(
I showed her the 16 week pic and asked her if it was a willy and she wouldnt say for sure but basically said dont buy blue from that shot.
I really dont think i can wait another 3 weeks, its killing me!
Oh, HappyLea - how frustrating!!! Can you get a private scan earlier?
I was thinking about having another gender scan at a different place but just dont know if to do it or try and wait? Its twice now baby hasn't been very co-operative and what if hides away again? Its killing me!
oh happy lea, the suspense must be killing you!! i am going back to my gut and saying maybe the baby is a girl afterall? That was kind of encouraging the tech said not buy blue yet....If I were you, I'd try to find another scan place asap to see if I could find out sooner...I don't think I could live 3 weeks in a limbo, and esp. now that you've been given a little hope.... /hugs
And Peony, thx for the words hun! I think she has early stages of dementia (undiagonsed) because she always speaks her mind way too often and everything is always about her. And that's not how it was when I was younger. She was a lot better than that...or at least that's how my memories are. We never had a problem until I moved away (only an hour away!) and that's when our trouble began, she never liked my DH for "taking me away" from her, but even if it wasn't him, it woudl have been a different man I'd have fallen in love with and moved out...I just don't understand...I was never going to be a living with her my whole life, and I don't know why/how she got that idea, because I always talked about having a husband and kids one day, one of my life's dreams.
HappyLea - I think most private places will give you a free repeat scan if they can't see the gender at your appointment. One tip I've heard is to drink lots and lots of water in the days leading up to the u/s to make sure you have lots of amniotic fluid for the baby to move around in, and then having something sweet like orange juice an hour before the appointment. If I were you I'd go for it - there's no way I could wait another 3 weeks!

I agree with Mocha, and I would be ALL OVER another scan. I couldn't wait 3 more weeks!
Hi everyone. Thought i'd join in the due date thread. I am due October 28th, but as this will be my 4th (and last) c-section i will be booked to have baby probably around the 16th. My 2 oldest daughters birthdays are the 12th and 16th of October so i'll have 3 birthdays in a week!! Busy times!! Also found out last week that our lucky last baby is a little boy. Very excited!! :happy:

Well i have asked DH if we can go for another gender scan but he said no :( i have to wait! He said he wont pay another £65 when we are getting a scan in 3 weeks. ARGH i dont know how im gonna get through the next 3 weeks, im already back searching ultrasound pics...driving myself mad!!! The next 3 weeks are going to kill me, ladies if you want me you will find me in a white padded cell, sat in a corner rocking myself as i will have gone crazy!!!!
Thanks!! They are very excited. My 2 year old doesn't really understand of course but the older 2 are thrilled. They are just happy for a little baby in the house, boy or girl.
The weeks between booking my scan and the actual day were complete hell!! I was relieved when it was over, but the boy surprise was extra special.
Princess Do you remember did you eat different at all when you had your girls? And was the timing different when you concieved them??
I am not really getting any movement at all!!! When preg with ds1 I felt him from 17 weeks and by now I could really feel him! I am 20 weeks and 5 days today! I guess they are all different , just worries me a bit
I'm with you Pinkin. I get to the end of the day and realised I haven't felt anything all day, so I sit down with my hand on my tummy and might get 1 gentle tap. With DS1 DH could feel all the kicks from 18 weeks. My tummy is still getting bigger, so I am hoping it is just because I have an anterior placenta this time around. 1 more week until I get to see the baby and see that they are ok.
HappyLea, you can tell your DH that my scan is $325...that's 210lbs!! You can tell him yours is a bargain! lol
My boys had their sports carnival this morning. So cute. They had to run 100m in the races. I thought that was a long way for the 4 year olds!
I've always eaten the same with all 4 pregnancies. DD1, DD2 and this little boy were all conceived late December, early January. Their birthdays will all be in the one week. All my symptoms have always been exactly the same, which is why I was shocked to hear boy this time.
I am almost 22 weeks and its only been the last week or so that i've been feeling kicks. Before it was just a flutter here and there. I was beginning to get worried too. I felt kicks alot earlier with all my girls.
My anterior placenta has definitely made movements feel a lot different this time around (though I was still feeling gentle bumps here and there around 15 weeks). I also think this baby is WAY more active and prone to crazy gymnastics, so it's sort of made up for the extra cushion in front. My husband even managed to feel baby already around 21 weeks...a lot earlier than last time. DS1 was very laid back and more of a persistent "stretcher" type.
I too dont feel very much movement at all, i felt DS3 well early and DH could feel him also. With this baby at my 20 week scan she said that the placenta is anterior, I think my boys the placenta was posterior (not 100% sure tho). Would that be the reason i hardly feel movement??
Yeah HappyLea, if it is anterior it is supposed to act like a big cushion at the front which can make the kicks and movements a lot more subtle.
Hi ladies. I just thought I'd let you all know that TTC5 needs our thoughts and prayers today. She started bleeding and went to the hospital. They've admitted her and have given her steroid shots in case her little guy decides to make a very early entrance. We all need to send 'stay put' vibes to her little prince!

Well DH has given in and we are going for another gender scan tomorrow, so hopefully this shy baby is going to co-operate :nails:
I feel bad as i have had my mum at all my scans but i have told her they couldn't fit me in, then if we find out tomoz i will try and keep it a secret so can give her a little suprise on her Pearl wedding anniversary party.
We are going to a different place then our first one, im so nervous but i really just want to know, as i dont want to let myself get my hopes up over the next few weeks thinking it maybe a girl and then hearing boy and being upset again. I just want to get a good shot so i know.
The receptionist was lovely and told me to drink lots of water before i go and take a can of full fat coca cola just incase baby isnt co-operating again. So :fingers: we will know in 16 and 1/2 hours...eeek!!!
The only downside to drinking the full-sugar pop is that you'll be WIGGING out when the scan comes around. I wasn't really nervous before my gender scan but once I hammered down a pop and a Milky Way bar, the sugar and caff combined made me a basket case.
I'm sooooo happy your dh agreed to another scan, HappyLea! I can't wait for the update tomorrow!
I dont think i will be able to sleep tonight. I am almost certain i will hear boy again tomorrow but i have a little hope that the 16 week one was wrong, i still dont feel like this is a boy. Only time will tell i guess...nervous!!!

Pinkin and Peony, I have an anterior placenta this time and it didnt' really babe move much until 21-22 weeks consistently. Peony, I still am so curious what you're having ...I still feel your baby is a girl, and I would love to hear confirmation of that! But totally understand if ya and DH really want to stay team green, I just knew my DH and I coudln't do it! Even if I wanted to ,DH really wanted to know.

Im back and he is all BOY, no doubting it today! I will post the pic a little later. Got full scrotum and willy shot which i can say i have no doubt about at all!
HappyLea - I'm sorry you didn't hear girl, but at least you're not driving yourself crazy wondering anymore. This little guy must be meant to join your family, and I'm sure he'll be the apple of your eye. :HH:
