Hobber- in terms of planning the c-section would be great. My other 3 deliveries were rushing to the hospital in the late evening or middle of the night so a leisurely venture would be great. No c-section scheduled yet, we want to try to turn him first. If we have to it'll be scheduled for 39 wks as we can't risk me going into labor with a breech, so yep it'll put him and dd1 4 weeks apart which would be great. Can I say though the thought of having him in 3 wks instead of 4 is a bit unnerving. I'm totally ready but it all the sudden seems so close lol
Stopping watching calcium in food was my route too, I ate a bit of cheese but wasn't drinking milk or eating any other dairy either. Not to avoid it, I just don't normally ingest tons of diary which led me to believe calcium wasn't a huge factor in my girls.
Yahmama - thank you! I think I am going to do the same as you - not worry about taking in calcium anywhere else, but avoid dairy as much as possible - I love my morning cup of tea though and so was very happy to have the excuse to have a little full fat milk in it! lol!
Please can you explain two things to me? Firstly, how did you use the OPKs to determine your O day? I know this sounds like such a basic question, but I am tracking 3 cycles to help me ttc in May, and so don't have too many months to get it wrong :-( I guess my fundamental question is: how did you know you had ovulated?? just through temp changes??
And then - pleeeeeeeease can someone explain the cutt off thing to me - I am so confused :-(
just re-read my post - to clarify...I do know how to use the OPKs to determine that O will happen in next 12 - 48 hours, but I have never been off the pill for any length of time before, and so I don't really know my cycles. I don't know how to determine how soon after OPK shows a smiley, i PERSONALLY actually ovulate. Some ladies seem to be able to pinpoint it - how???
thanks for helping - feel so silly asking some of these questions
Do you ladies know where I can find a thread on Estrogen wrt a blue sway? Know we have to raise testosterone but not sure what to do about estrogen?
Hi Babyblessings, welcome. I also use the saliva microscope and find it extreemly helpful. Try to use if first thing in the morning, before you brush your teeth, eat or drink anything. I do a quick clean with my tounge and swallow a few times first just so the sample is clear. You will notice the sample gradually getting ferns on it and the day you see the most ferning pattern you are ovulating or are just about to. It's good you have a few months up your sleve to test it out, i needed that to figure it out properly. And yes you will know when you have finished because the ferning will be almost completly gone the next day.
3pink1blue - i hope the little guy turns around for you, it is still possible, but either way you will have your little bundle safely in your arms very very soon. Best of luck for your test on Thursday. xx
Have you joined the FertilityFriend site? You can enter all of your data in there and it gives you a graph to look at and tells you when you are most fertile. It would be good to track Temps, OPKs, Saliva, CM, and Cervical position to get the most accurate analysis. There is also some very helpful information on that site you can read through.
Yes, I only want to DTD on O day because I can definitely tell a difference in my pH on O day versus before or after. And I usually O very quickly after a +opk. THat's why I'm worried about the line being there at all today is because it usually looks like this around 2 days before O.
Kris - I've heard of many babies having complications from breech delivery. I've also seen pics of babies coming out horribly bruised. Yep so not worth it! No matter what I'll heal and get over it.
Babyblessings - we all asked a ton of questions in the beginning especially when trying to reprogram our brains after IG. There's quite a few long time swayers and a bunch that have gotten it almost figured it out and all of us are happy to help:)
5- I know I've told you this a few times but the month I got my bfp I was positive that AF was on her way. It's not over till it's over, regardless of how grouchy you are lol ;)
Cinss - Thanks hun, fx for smooth cycle and a BFP!!
Babyblessings:
I would get on Fertility Friend and start tracking your cycles that way. Have you been taking your temps? FF will tell you when you O'ed and I think it is pretty accurate, most of the time.
As far as opks, you can get cheap ones from Amazon (50 tests for 10 dollars) and you test your urine daily (or several times a day if you are obsessive like me!) starting around the time your CM starts to seem fertile. I have a 26-28 day cycle, and I usually O around CD13-14, so I start testing on CD9 or 10. That way you can see it fade in.
WHen people say "cut off" for TTC boy it is different than a "cut off" for TTC girl. For TTC boy, what people are talking about is the ammount of time that DH hold off from releasing. So before your attempt, you want your DH to abstain for 2-4 days if you can so his sperm count will be high. Here's a thread that explains everything:
http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...pink-blue.html
Wow, thanks ladies, so kind and helpful!!
Hobbermittens - Going to see if Amazon deliver to where I live, but OPKs here are quite expensive :-( will definitely buy a pack in the month I ttc as an extra resource, but for now, going to have to rely on my microscope (Cinss - so glad to know you have had some success with it! And glad I have a few months to work it all out!). Thanks so much for the cut off explanation and the link too - all gets so confusing so will read through that this evening!
On all this lovely advice, I have registered at FF - great site! Have been charting temps for only this week, but will keep going, checking cervix, and CM each day too - so will see what happens! I am in day 14 of my cycle and still no sign of O! Which is probably how come I have 2 dd! Guessing I have longer cycles than the ave, and did all my calcs on the ave last time! So cutt off completely incorrect!! (was much less clued up;-)
Can anyone fill me in re Estrogen in DH and DW? what are we meant to be doing - raising or lowering it? On IG, I read that we both need to raise T and Est. that the case on GD?
Just a point to note on Atomic's Vit D theory - both my DDs were conceived in mid winter - least amount of natural vit D! And wasnt taking any supps... hmmmm
Hello, i am new here!!
I'm Sam, mum of 2 girls from Scotland. They are Kaidy (6) and Tia (3), we are on our first cycle of TTC and hoping for a boy! I had the mirena removed last week so waiting for my cycle to return and decide what its doing. I have opk's at the ready that i have been taking daily hoping to have some idea when i may ovulate again!! Taking Ferlicare as heard it helps sway blue, trying to up the bananas and tomatos as snacks and hoping to dtd as close to Ov as possible.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.
I did....chemicals don't tend to mess you up that much because they are so early, it is almost like you just had a late period. You don't have as much progesterone in your body from the pregnancy progressing longer, so your body bounces back pretty quick. It has been said that fertility is higher after a chemical. I conceived my DD1 a couple of weeks after my 1st one way back in the day! Are you taking opks? I say go for it if you are mentally ready.
This is exactly what I was going to say. One month, I was at a music festival in the heat all day so I was drinking a ton of water, and worried that I was diluting my urine and that was causing my opks to not be + but they went + even on the clear pee a couple days later regardless....it was the supps I was taking that caused my O to be a few days later than usual. I would *try* to refrain from drinking a lot for the hour or two before you test, but don't dehydrate yourself or anything.
First of all, don't worry about timing. It has been proven to not matter. SERIOUSLY! I would not want my DH to go more than 4-5 days without releasing though, because sperm can deteriorate (they become old and crappy, which is not good). I think you did a good job by telling him to release asap....then you'll have about 48 hours in between, which is great. Really, don't worry about it. If you haven't read the "how we made boys" thread in the ttc boy forum, do so, because it will make you feel a lot better about timing not mattering. TONS of them were from dtd every day even. Good luck!
Good advice! FF is very helpful. I still can't pinpoint mine to the exact minute either, but standard ttc method is to go for it about 12-18 hours after a +opk. Best to do 2 opks a day also, at about 1pm and then like 8pm. I usually do 4 actually, at 1pm, 4pm, and then 8pm. It is usually + as can be by 4pm, so I know that I will be ovulating in the next day, roughly. I get lots of ovary pains, but I can never tell when exactly the egg is being released, which is why I think dtd the night you get a + (if you get a morning +) or the next morning (if you get an evening +) is the best idea for your 1st shot. But also, I really REALLY think timing doesn't matter, so I think it is prudent to go again if you are really wanting to get pregnant and don't freak about the old timing thing.
OK, I have a zillion comments since been working like crazy this week!
HELLO AND WELCOME to Sam and BabyBlessings! You might get dubbed "BB" for short. Sam, sounds like you are ready to go! I haven't heard much about how long it takes the typical cycle to get back into gear after Mirena, but hopefully it is soon! BB, couple of comments above, but glad you ladies are here! Like the others said, do not feel bad for a second asking anything here. We are all here to cheer each other on and help you give your best shot to swaying for a boy. Definitely recommend reading through all of the sticky posts on the ttc boy forum for all the "base" info about swaying. There are a lot of methods and beliefs out there, but I will say that the methods on this site are really based on science and experience....not so much on old IG methods or wives tales. But we are here for ya!
3P1B, I am sorry you are having to deal with Charlie being a stinker already! I think you are right on though....try the inversion, and then if nothing, just have a c-section and think about the silver linings: no worrying about him during a high-risk delivery attempt, no labor and rushes to hospital, and you will look lovely in the photos. I remember my doc telling me that franks breeches don't often turn- not to bum you out- and honestly, as a mom who has had both a c-section and vaginal birth, it's not THAT big of a deal in regards to the experience. Recovery, yes, a bit harder. But if you need a section, don't worry about it. If he is big and frank breech, seems like your 1st decision as a good mama to him is to just do the section and get super pumped about your baby boy's birth.
Kris, buggar about the glucose test! I hope all is well....is Sarah ttc now or are you just waiting for your little lady and putting that on hold?
MFC, I totally agree with everyone- do not worry about the size. I know it is easy to worry when you've had m/c, but all looks well and your doc is not alarmed at all, so that is a good sign that there is no need to worry. And what a cute little wiggler you got there! I love that you saw him/her moving around so much! That is a GREAT sign!
TTC5- girl, don't be feeling bummed yet! When you know you have to potentially ttc for a while, you just have to let go of signs and feelings and being obsessed with it in general....trust me. It's hard to let go of, but you will be much happier when you just live your life and ttc on the side. But you are not out at all....your hormones are clearly working, so who knows, maybe that's a good sign? And I think it is an EXCELLENT idea to investigate suing for damages to cover IVF should you want to do that. With a good lawyer, a hospital will settle on that super quick versus having to deal with negative press and having to pay you millions, kwim? Of course, millions are bad, either, but you will have a shorter, quicker go of it all if you are just asking for the IVF to be covered. That is my 2 cents, at least! (I have a bunch of lawyer friends, obviously.)
Cinss, sorry about AF. Gear up for this month! FX for you!!!
Iluv, good to hear from you! I like the Delphine name as well. Super cute. They are all cute, actually! Carrigan is just adorable, sounds like a strong girl name. How are your others doing? DD2? xxoo
As for moi, we dtd again last night, so ended up 4 times in 3 days, O-1, O and O+1 just to be sure we caught an egg. I am going to test on my bday, which will be 12dpo (the 21st). I had a m/c on my bday last year, so I figure the universe should be cool to me and let me have a bday bfp. (: Best of luck to everyone!!!!
Yes, started taking OPK's yesterday and a line is showing at the darkness it normally would about 2 days before--thanks for all your encouragement about timing not being a very important factor. Hoping to DTD Thursday, which would be 48 hrs. since his release yesterday morning.
Lbam- thanks :)
Babyblessings- I too am a huge believer in vit d. I was diagnosed with a sever deficiency after dd3 and have been taking a supplement ever since, I really believe it made a difference.
Sam- Welcome!! Make sure you read over the high everything diet when upping your food intake. A lot of success has come from nutrient dense foods and very little processed ones. Gl and fx you get your little guy!!
Lola- thanks Hun. I've been tormenting my midwife and reading through the good sites (webmd, americanpregnancy etc.) to get as much info about this as possible. So yes, I know that franks have the least chance of turning and are the hardest to manually turn especially when the baby is bigger. The silver lining is what I'm clinging to, the thought of being able to call the ones flying in and say ok here's the date book your flight is awesome. I've had two middle of the night hospital runs, a leisurely trip would be nice. And if we know the date I can let the kids school/teachers know and just keep them home as opposed to dealing with pulling them out. They want to be at the birth and as much as a c-section won't be the same we still want them there and waiting. I think I'm almost done crying and panicking about it all, it is what it is and getting him here safely is all that matters.
Fx a solid heathy swimmer caught that egg! Fx for the best birthday present ever!
3P1B, I think you have an awesome attitude about it. And that would be way easy for family and the girls to be there. Heck, if you had it scheduled for X date at 8am, the girls could just be in the waiting room with your extended family and come in and see you in like an hour! I hope you are right and I get the best bday gift ever.....so so hope you are right.
Lola - thanks hun, i'm a half full kinda girl, it just took me a little longer to get there this time. I'm sending all my baby dust to you and have my fingers tightly crossed.
Oh I almost forgot. For those that remember my idiot bil and his gf who were having their second girl, well they had her late last night. I haven't heard much more then that but we'll be going to see her tonight. Did I mention her horrible name? Silver Marie. Yup I actually have to utter the words "my niece Silver" (shudders).
Lola, I hope you get a birthday BFP! That sounds like the best birthday present ever!
3P1B, I have met a Sterling, but never a Silver. Interesting name choice...
Can someone look at my chart? I am pretty sure today is O day, or it could have been yesterday? Not sure, but my temps are wacky! I got a +opk yesterday as well as the day before, and I usually O the day of the - opk (which would be today) but on occasion I O on the second +opk day. Either way, the temps for the past few days are high, BUT i was also sleeping poorly because I had to make sure I was up early enough to prepare for DTD (Do my BSF, had to make DH his coffee, etc) before the kids were up. I was still taking my temp around the regular time, maybe an hour or so early, but that's it. Anyway, I THINK I O'ed but won't know until I see tomorrow's temp. Tell me what y'all think:

Hey girls! sorry again I don't read back. I saw the pic from Fab on the page I was stuck lol hey that baby is cute already!!! Look like he is smiling :-)
Lola- I just learned that strawberry stimulates testosterone and sperm activity. So if a man eat a lot he will have more T and better sperms. Tell DH to start eating a lot of it it can only help. Hope he loves it and not allergic lol.
How is everyone else? Im sorry for the bfn's . There was any bfp? Who go it?
Hope everyone get a sticky bfp soon! Let's say on next try !
Im on weight loss and it's sucks Im hungry and lazy to workout lol. so it's going slow.
No Im not :-( O is already over so that's it. This month sucks the most I wanted a October baby! Hopefully the "no more baby" thing will be easier now...
But on the other hand DD4 is playing more with her big sisters now not waking up every night (but still wakes up some lol) trying to learn to go potty and this thing are nice. Good to have some me time .very little but anyway hehe
Of course i would take a 100% boy , but we all know that's not gonna happen so we are done.
I think DH is happy we don't ttc anymore and I don't want another baby if he don't. So we are done.
