Hobber, 8 weeks!! I'm getting excited for you :D
I'm always saying I never believe in signs but I still notice things that could be a "sign" HAH.
So we have a private library in our town - it's about a 20,000 book collection of classic children's books - high school age books, owned by a family in our city. They're super passionate about collecting books and it's a lovely library. We pay a small fee each year to be able to let the kids check out the books. This is important because you still check out books by writing on a little check-out card from the back of the book. I write our last name and the date that the book is due, then turn in the cards to the librarian.
So the library card shows the surname of each family that has checked the book out previously.
We have already picked out the baby's name if it's a boy. The name we've picked has significance to us, but it is not a common name. It can be a first name OR a surname.
I was checking out a book at the library yesterday, writing our name in the slot... and right there on the card was our "baby boy name" ... I was shocked as it's not common. I took a picture and sent it to DH. He laughed. Then I got to another book and the same name was on the line right above where I needed to write our name!! We have been members of the library for years and I have *never* checked out a book with this name on it (usually you see the same names and recognize them because you get to know the other families who are also members of the library, being a small library)
Anyways, like I said, don't know that I believe in signs, but I'll take a little joy in thinking that's a good one ;)
And sorry for being ramble-y but this is the only place I can share something so trivial, lol.
Skrimpy, cool story! I hope it is a sign for you! :)
Thanks everyone, I am trying to get excited, but we haven't picked a name yet, and that is starting to stress me out!
((hugs)) we haven't picked a girl name out yet and that's stressful for me now, so I understand how you must feel Hobber! I have a friend who was pg with girl #3 (staying Team Green) - they had a boy name picked but no girl name. When they saw her the first time, her name just came to them and it's the cutest name ever, lol. And she's the sweetest thing. She really makes Honor look like the Grinch ;) but they are cute together :p
I hope the right names come to you guys soon.
Aww what a cute little boy belly!!! Lookin good.
Cute belly Dloui! :)
Super cute belly dloui!!
thanks girls
I am having a hard time with names too, originally we were going to name the baby after DH's grandfather and now he doesn't want that, he wants the name to be different and unique so we have a list of like 7 and I have no idea which one I like the best :sigh:
Hobber I thought you liked Sawyer for a girl?
Looking lovely dloui :)
Love the belly dloui!!
Hobber, I think having a name you love does help with GD. It helped me with Honor for sure. We got her name because there's a character by that name in one of DH's favorite book series. Are there any character names from books/movies that you really like the character? Maybe that could help you think of a name.
skrimpy, as a librarian, well, I just loved your story for both reasons! The "sign" and the library part, haha!
When I found I was due in Sept., I thought about how I've always wanted to get a necklace with my children's birthstones on it...something classy (and something that I could add more stones if needed, haha!) So I thought about the pink topaz stone for Oct. (DS1), then the diamond in the middle (April, DS2), then when I thought of the sapphire for September, it was like I could see my baby girl there...Lillian, I just knew deep in my heart, that the blue stone would be for my baby girl, just like the pink stone had been for my sweet cuddly boy.
Yes, that sounds crazy, but the image I had at the time was so magical, so perfect, it was as if I had been granted a peak ahead of time at the baby :) So, I definitely believe in signs.
I would LOVE and appreciate more guesses on my scan pics from 12+1. I'm 14+1 now, and I thought I'd stop obsessing over these after 2 weeks, but I am trying to analyze everything I see! Would you take a look and let me know your thoughts? THanks! (Link is below)

No, I'm surprisingly going to go team green! I figured if I could get some good clues from my 12 week scan that would give me some hope to hold out on a surprise. I would have found out if it was obvious one way or the other from these pics, but it still is confusing to me, so we'll just hold out! I hope! I would love a surprise at birth, but I"m still obsessing over these pics to see if it's obvious and i just haven't figured it out! Does that make sense?
I'm rubbish at nub guesses Yahmama but that's one cute baby bean!
aww auroara78, thank you so much for sharing your story!! I love hearing stories like that <3 I really am hoping this little surprise at the library was a sign for us, but trying not to get hopes up too much.
Another thing that happened last night was: we've been looking for a kitten to be a mouser as we have mice under the house. We stopped at a house that had a "mouser kittens to a good home" sign up. When we arrived they had one little kitten left - a little male kitten :D So we brought him home. He's so cute and has immediately taken to me. We haven't named him yet though (he's hiding now since the kids are awake lol, and we're trying to figure out a name that suits his personality). But maybe he's a little sign too ;)
AFM: We had our second midwife's appt. yesterday and it went so well. Heard the baby again and our little one has a nice, relaxed heartbeat always in the pretty same range. I like thinking maybe I'll get a laid-back baby this time! Midwife said I look fantastic so that made me feel good. I'm feeling little flutters and I'm really enjoying this pregnancy.
She said I can call to get my scan set up whenever I want; she'd prefer it sometime between 19 and 21 weeks. I'll hit that range in 3 weeks (!!!). I have to go get some blood drawn next week (the label fell off the test vial enroute to the lab so I have to get stuck again, sucks!). I think when my doctor's office calls with those results, I'll have them get the scan scheduled for me.
Still def feeling like I want to be Team Green. I'm really enjoying listening to the baby's heartbeat, feeling little flutters, planning cloth diaper stashes, etc. and I do NOT want any GD to mess that up!!!! Part of me is secretly hoping I'll see some obvious boy parts during the scan, and part of me just doesn't want to know. DH still seems to want to know so we're still thinking to go with the envelope he can take to the office and open if he chooses.
For now DH has told me he's just referring to the baby as "she." But he swears he has no feeling, lol. So I figure I'll keep my hopes up, and maybe him always saying "she" will help me also get used to the thought of a pink bundle.
Sorry to ramble on!!!
That is EXACTLY how I feel! I want to enjoy every moment of pregnancy and don't want to regret finding out if we don't hear boy...and I also am secretly hoping to see some boy bits at our gender scan even though we're going to tell the tech we don't want to know! I'm thinking, if it's obviously boy, surely she can't hide everything from every angle? And if I dont' see anything, it's nothing definite and i can still hold out till the end!
yeah, it's hard while looking at these 12 weeks shots, but I'm hoping it will get easier if I just try to put it out of my mind that at this stage nothing is reliable when it comes to nubs! I would love to find out if I KNEW it would be a boy, but I just can't rely on that, so we're going to try to have all the patience we can to hold out till the end so I can enjoy this whole pregnancy completely since it's going to be our last.
Hey ladies, hope everyone is well :)
I had my 12 week ultrasound today. Everything looked great! Pretty sure this is girl #3 for us, which I'm not really surprised about. I have thought it was a girl from the day I found out I was pregnant. I posted my nub shots on the ultrasound thread if you want to have a look.
Congratulations Bec!
Has anyone heard from Flava or MFC? I am worried about them! :worry:
Oh had a scan Friday 34 weeks and bub is huge 6pd 10oz lol. I have started to lose some plug today too.
I lost plug here and there for a few weeks with my baby #3 TTC5 - do you usually lose right before labor or here and there? Glad the bub is a good size!!
I've been thinking about Flava and MFC too!
Aww Bec, you LO looks so sweet! I'm no good with nubs but it looks like you have pretty universal guesses there! Glad everything looks lovely and healthy :)
Sounds like baby is going to be coming soon TTC5
Hey ladies, remember me lol We've been having so much fun this summer and now are getting ready for school. DD3 starts kindergarten next week so it'll be just me and Charlie for 3 hours a day. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or afraid of it lol I haven't been alone with a baby every day for a long time now, I'm so used to having big sister helpers around I feel a little helpless when it's just me. I'll adapt, it'll be fun as Charlie is getting so big and active. I can't believe he's 6 months old already!
Looks like a couple of you are going green team, anyone going to be finding out soon?
Still no word from Flava and MFC?! I was sure someone would have heard from them by now!
TTC5- my cm increased dramatically towards the end of my pregnancy, I thought I lost my mucus plug a week before I actually did because there was so much. I actually lost it the day I went into labor in one big gnarly chunk lol
Everyone else, catch me up!
