Well the Gender Party happened on Sunday, and I had been up for hours working on preparations for it! I didn't get some things done, like a balloon bouquet and something else but I was so tired that I didn't care and we even tried to move the party..but my MIL went ALL out for it with food and I wasn't aware! So we did it.. I was a zombie with my hubby but it was very fun for how simple it was. DH and I were right on time for the party at his bro's house but his family had to wait for us to decorate. But they loved my decorations so they didn't care!
My MIL bought Subway sandwiches and cheesecake... OMG we are all starving as his family had been in church all day! I was feeling a tad nauseous while eating it though, probably due to lack of sleep.
With the reveal I decided to go with the paper lantern confetti idea that me and Babyy came up with. We placed a pink tablecloth underneath the HUGE white lantern that took me like 8 hours to make. And the girls excitedly said "Does that mean it's a girl!?" And I said "No it was just the closest one" lol
So...3..2...1.. and DH and I pulled the strings we attached to the bottom of the lantern and probably a handful of hot pink confetti came showering out. So as it was sitting on the floor DH and I didn't say anything and let everyone stare at it because during the party we let them know that we did know what it was..
Finally one of my SILS says "It's a Girl!?!" And I barely could get out "Yep... It's A Girl!" And then emotionally losing it as the room exploded with excitement! So I walked away from the lantern not even trying to get the confetti out because I was a tad embarrassed! LOL I did have regrets afterwards.. The confetti was SO fine that it was like glitter so on camera you couldn't see any fall out of it. On camcorder you do see the shower of pink so that makes me happy! If I could go back I would have put a lot more stuff like paper.. and crepe paper that slowly falls to the floor LOL.
It's just a reminder to me that I'm a bit of a perfectionist and need to accept that life doesn't always go the way we plan even after hours of prep!
The losers had to put on bibs, suck on binkies and eat baby food! The pictures and video were so priceless.
Later on on of the little girls wanted to get the rest of the confetti out and I let them..but really as it showered out it was hard to see so that made me feel better at least that if more would have come out it really would not have mattered.
I don't regret having the party or doing all my hours of prep..it was exciting, and the anticipation of everyone was so GREAT! Here are some pictures of the party:

love the pics! sounds like it was super fun!
I was thinking about u all weekend! I'm so happy it turned out great for you! And the pictures are great! I love the old wives tales & the decorations are cute! I know cleaning that confetti sucked! U will find it every week ALL over the place for like a month lol
I feel good, I'm glad I did it..and it just feels more real. :)
I let the rest of my family and friends know the gender on FB yesterday. Even though I announced I was pregnant with a pic in July, they didn't see it! So that was fun! :) I did it with that Blingee I made.
