IWant - Congrats!! I thought blood tests were pretty accurate but you are right there's lots of errors out there saying girl when really a boy [emoji51] Anyone else have thoughts? I thought Atomic said they were pretty legit.

Most of the people that post this only post once and never elaborate on why/how this happened. Most of the time, it was done too early before they figured out the "sweet spot" of testing to get the most accurate results. Even in the case of twins/vanishing twins it's still extremely accurate. I had a vanishing twin after a chemical and my results were accurate. I am very skeptical of these purported inaccurate results. Most of the time, it's lab error if you research your particular NIPT. You will know, because your results will be delayed, your OB will inform you, or you will have to repeat the blood work after having a scan. My results were delayed due to the vanishing twin, and the lab ran an extensive test to confirm their initial results. Most of the inaccurate results you read out there were before the labs instilled these quality control measures.
Trust your results! It's accurate!!

Pbn your not far behind me :) im 23 weeks this week, its crazy to me that january is summer for you haha im jealous it'll be absolutely freezing here :( though having said that my summer babies (not that we really have proper summers) haven't liked the heat, do you struggle with that?
Congrats Iwant4! Girls are so much fun! I was just thinking how last night as I was braiding my 9yo's hair (so she can have waves) how much I'm going to miss when they don't ask for stuff like that but I have a loooong while before that happens since I'm baking girl #3.

4blue2pink-my first induction they were concerned by the excess amount of swelling I was having in my face and everywhere else. They never diagnosed my with pre-e (or never told me, I was very young so I'm not sure). I gained 45 lbs with her and lost 25 lbs just giving birth. And my 2nd I had the option to decline but I was 41 weeks and she was pressing on my sciatic nerve, I just couldn't stand the pain any longer or the falling everywhere. So far with this one my only issue is I'm still having morning sickness at 17 weeks. I've gained 2 lbs so far but I'm also just over the line of being over weight for my height. Does the UK have long maternity leave? I can't even imagine having maternity leave for free lol.
Pbn crazy that Jan will be summer if baffles me also [emoji23] it will be dead of winter here! I'm hoping by to hit a snow/ice storm while in labor [emoji52].
Had my regular ob visit today. 20w U/s was great baby measuring 2 days ahead they weren't able to see the cervical spine so I have another U/s on the 22nd yay!

mommaxo3 i hope you can avoid the sciatic nerve issue this time, it is so unbelievably painful :( its good that they didnt force you into induction, it was still your decision which it should always be :) im sorry your still sick, mine finally wore off around 16 weeks this time its rough!!

right ive looked up maternity leave in the UK for you! im a stay at home mum so it doesnt apply to me but from the official government websites this is what i have found:
You have a right to take up to a year of maternity leave.
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve worked for your employer, how much you’re paid or how many hours a week you work. Your maternity leave will last for a year unless you tell your employer you want to return earlier. It can’t last longer than a year.
You build up holiday as normal while you’re on maternity leave. If you can’t take your holiday because you’re on maternity leave, your employer should let you carry over up to 5.6 weeks of unused days (28 days if you work 5 days a week) into your next holiday year. You can take holiday immediately before or after your maternity leave if you want to spend more time away from work.
You can start your maternity leave any day from 11 weeks before your due date. Your maternity leave will start earlier than the date you pick if your baby comes early, or you’re off work with an illness related to your pregnancy in the 4 weeks before the week of your due date.
Statutory Maternity Pay is paid for up to 39 weeks. You get:
90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks
then £140.98 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks, it is paid in the same way as your wages (for example monthly or weekly). Tax and National Insurance will be deducted.
**just to add now i think about it everyone i know who works and takes maternity leave takes a year or very close to a year off work
best example i can think of off the top of my head is 2 teachers from my kids school, one had her baby in august 2016 and is returning to school this september (2017) for the start of the new school year. and my sons teacher went off in january to have her baby and we got a letter saying they were getting a new teacher because she was on 12 months maternity leave
That's fantastic. I should have moved before getting pregnant haha. I get 6 weeks for a vaginal delivery and 8 for a c-section but I'll most likely have a vaginal delivery and I can't submit the claim until the baby is a week old so any time I take before that is unpaid unless I have vacation saved and like I said I pay for this "service." And we only get 8 days a year for vacation/sick time. I have 6 days left and won't get more until over a month after the baby comes and our vacation doesn't roll over from year to year. I'm very undecided if I'm coming back and I'm undecided if I'm going to work until I go into labor (this is what most do at my job) or if I'm going to work until Feb 1st (I'm due on the 5th). I can't believe the US is so underdeveloped in this area.
Same with me mammaxo3. I will work till the last day and take only 3 weeks off which i swapped with my very helpful and caring colleagues. I am hoping my OB will oblige and agree to an induction so i dont miss aby of my off days. I am trying to save the 4 weeks i get of paid leaves per year as we already had tickets for out of state trip ( baby was surprise bfp). Haven't seen family (grandparents in 6 yrs so really don't want to wait till next yr)Quote:

Please accept my apologies for being away for so long. We had a lot going on. I am working hard and cooking meals that will help my blood sugar stay in control and still testing 4 times a day. Dh had a minor surgery and was in a lot of pain and at home for 2 weeks so a lot of work there and dd starting school. It was really crazy.
I kept thinking about you all. Tried my best to read as much as I could. Took me two days. [emoji51]
I am doing ok. Have my anatomy scan on 14th. I am not going to find out the gender but won't look away too [emoji12]
I still didn't ask dh about what the tech said since it's not 100% anyway.
I may give in if he asks again this time. Needless to say that you all will be the first to know.
