I don't think it's taboo at all -- I don't think adoption is ever taboo, it's such a wonderful thing, and I think it really was the way people got around GD back before IVF and having babies until they hit their DG!
There are people that have done it on here btw, both embryo adoption and traditional adoption. And people talk about it often!
I think it's lovely to do. I personally wouldn't just because I truly have some big hang ups on having a boy from me (which is why I was full on considering sperm donors there for a second!). I'm not sure what you are, but be aware adoption can be more difficult and expensive than IVF. In our state, my husband and I technically could be barred from adoption because of our religious views since the agencies are run by a specific religious org, and many other places have this too. BUT I think it is obviously so worth it.
