I've heard that massage can be helpful so definitely worth a try if you usually require stitches. I did tear really badly with DS1 but that was because I had no epi and panicked when he crowned so I "forcced" him out. With my last 2 I had the epi for pushing and was able to be more relaxed with my pushing. Luckily I only needed one little stitch with DS2 and none with DS3, hoping for the same this time around!
-
Salsa that is amazing that you have never torn with such big babies! I had 3rd degree tears with my first who was only a little over 4lbs! I agree though it has a lot to do with allowing your body to naturally stretch (at least that does the trick for some of us). I learned my lesson and listened to my doctor telling me when to push with the last 2 and having the epi on board helped me to push more slowly as well.
-
Dont mention stiches
I had a episomoty with DS1 and a bad 2nd degree tear with DS2 and i'm doing EVERYTHING in my power to not to have to go through it again but i imagine i will. The labour and birth is nothing compared to the pain of stiches.
-
Ha ha though you'd enjoy that one ;-)
I have been unlucky my first turned shoulders as he came out and got stuck hence episiotomy and second I arrived at hospital and he had crowned and midwife who hasn't read my notes and had no second midwife (which in uk they are meant to) made me push him out what I thought at time was too quick lying on my back ;-( which I think is bad for tears hoping for water birth this time .......
The massage is just so so I dunno not nice ;-( probably should feel like it hasn't done me any good yet!
Good work salsa mine were only 8 & 7 lbs! Fear this one will be large!
-
Southern that is so scary that you were in the hospital with contractions. So glad that they were able to get things under control. That must have been stressful!! I hope you are doing much better.
From what I understand tearing has to do with how quickly the baby comes. Message and then controlled slow delivery at the end however, I am sure that is rather difficult.
Well I get to meet my new OB tomorrow. I really hope I like him. My neighbor knows who he is and says I will like him. I can't follow my old OB because of insurance reasons. The group she is going to isn't covered under my insurance. Really I don't have too many other options so I really hope I like him!!
We are also going for a 3D/4D scan next week and I can't wait. We didn't do this with any of our other ones. Can't wait to see what she looks like.
Getting ready to do some serious baby projects for the nursery. I need to make curtains, paint a dresser, make a boppy cover, paint the closet and bathroom, and decorate. I am going to be delivering in 8 weeks which seems like no time!! Kind of freaking out.
-
WantingPink, OMG 8 weeks!
I've still got about 14 to go, I really am the "baby" of this group.
-
Ah wanting how exciting I think you must be the first due by original due dates!
I have eleven weeks thou actually that doesn't sound so many! With all the issues I haven't done any prep!
-
Wanting 8 wks that's so soon, I remember it seems like a while ago when you got your BFP. Fingers crossed you like your new OB.
Southern how scary about your contractions. I can imagine how worried
you had to be. Glad it's all okay now.
-
I only tore with ds1 really bad! Third degree and that's cause he was vacuumed out he was my six pounder... Ds2 9 pounds flew out like a bat out of hell like half a push lol and absolutley no tearing... Ds3 9 pounds was 30 mins of pushing and none with him either :D episiotomy freaks me out! Do they freeze you before they do it at least?!
-
I had an injection to numb as was only on tens made the stitches a breeze ;-)
-
So I saw my new OB today and I do like him which is good. He seems really nice and down to earth and has lots of experience in surgery so pushing up my c-section date will be worth having him. Plus DH liked him too which is good.
August 19th is the date (initially it was Aug 23) so FX she doesn't decide to come before then! It is crazy to think that in 8 weeks I will have a baby girl. Still seems a little too good to be true. I keep holding my breath hoping nothing goes wrong. So far everything has been routine and I feel very lucky for that. We are going in for our 3D/4D scan this Saturday so I will post some pictures from that this weekend.
Hope everyone is doing well. I saw a post from Northern and looks like she is TTC. I have been thinking about her a lot. I hope her TTC is a sign that she is doing well (or at least better).
-
Hey wanting that's great news agh 8 weeks sounds so soon! So pleased its worked out okay xx
-
Ps I'm hoping my bubba will arrive that day too as its my dads birthday! Would be three weeks early though so doubt it!
-
I started my RRL tea yesterday... I'm gonna do one cup a day til 35 weeks and then increase from there... I'm hoping to go into labour a couple days before induction just cause it would be nice to happen on its own...
-
OMG I know it's tmi but I'm at that point where it's really hard to do my regular "personal grooming" down there! I've heard of ladies who have their DH do it for them, I'm just not sure he would or I would like that too much! Plus what if he cuts me lol ouch! Ugh the little things in life that are hard now!
-
I would not let DH touch me with a razor... I still manage to get the job done... I was able to keep up with it for all of them... Maybe try in the bath opposed to shower
I was gonna ask cause I am curious I'm sorry if its too personal but I have to lmao...for your personal down there grooming what do you guys do? I have been shaving mine completely since I was 16 and I was talking to my friends and none of them shave completely...
-
Wanting- I'm so glad you like your new OB, that had to have been a huge relief!
WAG & Thorz- I usually keep "bare floors" down there but during pregnancy is my only exception. I keep it up as long as I can but once it becomes too awkward I just try to trim it up but don't bother to shave completely. I figure OBs and nurses have seen it all and they're the only ones other than DH and myself who would see it anyway lol.
-
Lol I'm a bare kind of girl too (shave completely), even in pregnancy but its getting harder because I can't wear my contacts anymore, for some reason my eyes are rejecting them, so I have to wear glasses all of the time, and I obviously can't wear them In the shower, and they get foggy in if I'm in the tub so I can't see. I'm not about to take a razor down there when I'm blind and can't see.
Southern how have you been feeling!?
-
Maybego get a wax? I tried a Brazilian wax once and will never spit agains it was excruciating and it really irritated my skin I was full of ingrown hairs ewwwww it was bad! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only "bare" one lol... My friends made me feel like a huge minority lol
-
Ha ha must be something in the water had exactly the same issue yesterday attempting tidy rather than complete removal but complete removal maybe easier as I'm sure my 'tidy' is not even of tidy ;-)
My bump is ridicicolously large I think I'm as big now as I was full term last time ;-(
-
Ladies I am with you. Normally I am a bare groomer also but I have a hard time keeping things clean from about 28 weeks on. I feel like I could do more damage than good down there right now!! I might have DH clean things up right before the baby is born since it makes me feel cleaner in general and there is enough going on down there after the birth:) I am just glad to know there are other women who struggle with this during pregnancy!!
-
Funny timing, lol. I've been having Brazillians for years (but leave a strip); after the first few the hair gets weaker and it's not really painful at all. However I've done nothing for about 3 months and it's getting pretty scary so I've just booked a bikini wax for Friday, I don't know if I could lie there for a full wax. They're pretty understanding there so I might ask for a good trim of what's remaining.
WAG , has your baby turned? Mine is breech at 26 weeks which my OB says means nothing at this stage in a 4th pregnancy but I was looking forward to a normal delivery.
-
Yes he has turned :D super happy about it! He turned two weeks ago!which I'm guessing explains the feeling like somebody beat the crap out of my pubic bone... It's soooooo sore! And my hip is screwed up big time... I have to limp :s then there is my lower back pain that I had before but is just super intensified at the moment... 62 more days! How is everyone mentally preparing for pain of labor I'm having a hard time relaxing about it...and would like to get into some kind of good "zone"

pretty sure these are the best pj's ever made lol
-
Ah wag love the pjs they are super cool!
-
I too have trouble with the full shave. I like to be as smooth as a babies bum but gosh it is a struggle lol. Ive found sitting on the side of the bath and doing it that way helps. I managed well last time I was preggs with DD1 but I must admit my bumps bigger this time.
I dont know if anyone else has had the same worries but I think this baby is a little bigger then shes supposed to be and past two visits to mw shes measured my belly and said im two weeks ahead, but when I look in my notes shes noted im ok and measuring normal.
I think shes shrugging it off because my first DD was 5lb 12. And she assumes I carry small babies? Maybe im being over cautious lol xx
-
You ladies sure put me to shame with how well you take care of your nether parts during pregnancy lol. Maybe I should try harder at keeping things more groomed!
WAG you are looking great still! Love the pjs, so darn cute. Glad baby Lennon has turned for you.
Mum- I've also heard that they can still turn pretty late especially the more babies you've had. FX the little guy flips for you soon!
Thorz- How are you feeling? Hope the bedrest is helping your pain.
My appointment with the perinatologist didn't go so well today. Cervix hasn't changed which is great but my polyhydraminos has gotten worse. Average fluid levels at this gestation is about a 14 and mine is 30. She also wants to refer me to a cardiologist because one of the veins leading to his heart is enlarged. She's unsure if there is a connection between these 2 conditions or if it's just random. The good news is that the enlarged vein could very well resolve on it's own so I'm trying not to worry but as you all know anytime you hear something isn't "normal" it's hard not to panic no matter the odds. In addition to this my FFN test today was positive. Basically today has kind of sucked and I'm not sure what to worry about more- the polyhydramnios, heart, or positive FFN ugh!
-
Southern are you dilated at all? Sorry if I missed it before... Placenta brain lmao
And what is FFN
-
My cervix is holding out for now and hasn't really changed much in 2 weeks (still only about a fingertip/1cm and soft).
FFN is the fetal fibronectin test which tests for a protein near the cervix which is secreted before labor. A positive result means that my body could be preparing for labor. It certainly isn't a sure thing but I'm at increased risk of delivering within the next 10-14 days.
-
Oooooo okay I had that test a few weeks ago mine was negative... That is soooo scary! :( I hope he can hold off to August at least... He will be so small if he comes now... Are u on bed rest or anything? Red raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help prevent pre term labour I started drinking mine 3 days ago and have had a big decrease in contractions...
-
Southern I really hope everything turns out to be okay and that baby stays put a little longer. Sorry you are going through that. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that baby doesn't make an appearance any time soon!
-
I'll have to look into that Wag, thanks! Glad it is helping you. How did your last check up go? Did your OB do a cervical check? Hope all of your ctx aren't causing any trouble for you either.
-
I decided to not get checked at my last appt but I go on the 4th and think I will as for a check cause I've been losing mucous plug... Seems early for that to be happening
-
My understanding is that your mucus plug regenerates so losing bits of it can be ok. I've had the same issue and also hoping it's not a sign of anything.
-
Hey ladies
Southern how scary hope its a big scare that will come to nothing praying you're little man will stay put for a few weeks yet
Wanting I think southern s right you can loose bits and it regenerates, I've not had a 'show' with either boys so I guess it must be a gradual thing sometimes ;-)
I'm 30 weeks today!
-
Southern, I hope he stays put for at least another few weeks. As you know 32 weeks is a "better" prem gestation.
WAG, I had loads of contractions with DD3 and was sure she'd be prem, but she came at 39 weeks. Your bump looks great, I just look generally enormous.
-
OMG southern!!! Crossing my fingers and toes for you that your little bub stays put for a handful of weeks still. Im sorry for your scare and stress!!!
I'm ok on bedrest, doc lifted it a bit and Im only on partial bed rest a couple times a week now. So its been nice. Ive passed the bed rest time away crocheting a blanket for her. Just finished it, and might do another. I don't like watching tv while on bed rest, it gets really old and boring so crocheting keeps me busy.
Wag I started losing my mucus plug at 30 weeks with DS2 and I would lose a little every couple of days. He didn't come until 3 days before his due date. I understand your concern though. It is always good to talk to your doc and get checked up on.
-
Well that's good to know... I tend to dilate a lot for the last couple months... With ds2 I was 5 cm for over a month :s and he was a week late lol
I have been out of control cleaning! Very unlike myself and def the worst case of nesting I have ever had! I cleaned my entire basement out by myself and organized all the toys! Which we have a ridiculous amount of toys after having kids for a decade!
Southern you must give daily updates so I don't have to worry days n end ;) it would be great to even just make it 2 or three more weeks!
-
Southern I hope the little bubs stays put for a little whole longer. I have everything crossed for you! I hope you're holding up ok x x
-
Thanks so much ladies, you all are so sweet and I really appreciate your well wishes. Will definitely keep you all updated if anything changes. The pediatric cardiologist called this morning and the soonest they can get me in is July 19! Not even sure I'll still be pregnant by then geez. I was hoping to get in asap to put my mind at ease but at the same time if they were seriously concerned I figure they would have fit me in sooner.
Thorz I'm glad to hear you are off full bedrest! I hear you about tv, especially daytime tv, ugh! I'm not as crafty as you so I usually pass my time on the laptop or reading. Much less productive over here lol.
