Good Morning (or evening) swayers,
I have a question regarding instead cups. Namely, what are they and do they help sway blue or pink ? I've never heard of them before and I'm sure someone has analysed them in here somewhere but I can't find the thread.
Think I am going to go the pre-seed for my Blue sway in December....I can't imagine using EW....and plenty of you ladies seem to have gotten a boy using it.

I laughed at your title. You probably don't realize it's funny but it made me laugh. So what is an Instead Soft Cup? Well it is similar to a Diva Cup except that it is disposable. They are typically used for your menstrual cycle but women have recently discovered that these little things can be used as an aid in TTC as they help keep the sperm closer to the cervix hopefully allowing for more sperm to get into the cervix and maximize chances of conception.

I think the use of Instead Cups got big in swaying when TBM was big on IG.
TBM, instead cups, EW are not as popular on Gender Dreaming as they were on IG.
Atomic's methods focus more on big changes rather than small things (her words, not mine).
I have considered using instead cups for TBM with pre-seed but I *believe* pre-seed has a different consistency than EW and it just isn't the same.
I have decided to use pre-seed as it was designed, near the cervix and I might use the instead cup to trap the swimmers, but I still haven't decided. I do think I will raise the pH of pre-seed with some baking soda for the sake of higher pH.
If you read some of Atomic's basic posts on Timing, frequency of BD, Pre-seed vs EW, you will feel more informed. All the essays have solid scientific, logical justification for their recommendations.

We are in the same situation except I just turned 39.
I am definately making big changes, in fact I am doing the complete opposite from before conceiving my daughters. I will also have a much bigger gap as my girls are all 2 years apart and the youngest is nearly 3.
Every time I stuff another piece of food in my mouth I think to myself I am making a healthy cocoon for my son...hope the positive thoughts work!!!
Am still reading about pre-seed and thinking about the BS too as well as BSF. Will look into the instead cups (this was just a stress buster this thread and glad it made a couple of you giggle). We could all do with it once in a while!!
If you decide to use IC for your boy sway you should practice with them first, as in the process of inserting one, you may accidentally spill sperm or even trap some on the outer side giving them no chance of getting into your cervix. There are 2 ways you can do it 1. after natural sex insert the cup or 2. have your DH ejaculate into the cup then insert it. Goodluck with your decision.
p.s i personally think laying with your legs raised after sex is the best option to give the little guys the best chance of getting to the egg. But if you have to get up and do stuff after sex the IC could be useful.
Again like the EW Cinss, IC sound a little too out of the box for me.
I think I will go with the legs in the air trick.
DH is up at 5am and the kids not long after so morning would be out for us unless I absolutely have to for O/EWCM reasons (my EWCM only usually lasts a day). Speaking of which, I am only charting for the first time this month so have a question with regards to timing of EWCM and release of egg... I only usually get half a day to a full day of EWCM during ovulation time but not sure if that is before or during release of egg. Will chart to see in a fortnight but what is the norm? I guess I'm worried EWCM will stop and O temp rise won't have occurred yet which means I am too far out to catch the egg.
Everybody is different with ewcm, some have lots for ages some 1 day like you, but usually you will get ewcm just before O and it is a good sign that you are about to be fertile, also check your cervix and it should go high soft and open at your peak fertile time. Charting will make it a bit more clear for yourself.
Thanks for the info Cinss (although after 3, I don't think it ever closes properly!) I will keep an eye on cervix and charting and opk and CM and hopefully it will all come together when the time comes.

The "Instead" in the title means instead of a tampon or maxipad for AF. They're actually designed to be used during your period but just like NBP said, you can also use them when TTC.
I think they sway blue by maximizing numbers of sperm close to the cervix, BUT I think it's very tough to put them in without losing a lot of the swimmers - either you have to wiggle all around inserting the dang thing after DTD naturally, or else if you use them in the IG way and have your husband deposit into the cup and then insert it, it's impossible to get it in there without dumping it all over the place. I tried to do it once just to see if I could, and lost aobut 2/3 of the load, had a huge mess to clean up in the middle of the night, and did not get pg that month.
