Im not sure how accurate the weight assessment from a scan is. I've know many people where it was off by a long way, said the baby was huge and it turned out average. Besides if this isn't your first you should be ok, my friend just gave birth to a 10lb baby boy (her third child) with no stitches or anything.
My SIL pregnant with her 1st is 33 weeks and measured 2 weeks ahead, she has been told they wont let her go to 40 weeks or she may need C/S. She has thyroid issues though.
Baby already weighs in at 7lb 8oz.what size should I expect?
I just found the following info for you...
"During the last month of the final trimester of pregnancy the baby will gain between a quarter and a half pound per week"
Growth scans really are just an estimate though. I wouldn't worry they are not all that accurate at determining babies birth weight, they just give an indication.
I would say baby will probably be between a healthy 8 and 9 pounds at birth if the growth scan is correct but that just my guess :) xx Good luck!!
I had a level 2 US for a large baby with my last ds. I think it was about 36 weeks. The perinatologist said they can be off by a pound either way and he couldn't say for sure if I should opt for a csection or another vbac. DS was 9lb 8oz at birth. I had a vbac with no problems (and I am a small person). I was ready for a c-section if there were problems, but I was determined not to let the Dr.s take control of the process unnecessarily.
My dS1 weighed in at 7lbs at 36 weeks. They said "your baby is going to be ten pounds!!!" He was 6lbs 12oz but he was really tall. So don't believe it 100%.
I had a growth scan then with ds3 we was 5 lb 5 oz and was born 7 lb 8 oz at 39+6 days!! So he put on around 2 lb in the last month!!
Thanks everyone,I also have polyhydramnios so measuring 3 weeks ahead.maybe it's just excess fluid and not all baby.
