Vitex to bring on ovulation while breastfeeding.

Hi! We've decided to ttc (hopefully) this December and I'm going to start swaying now. The problem is my son turns one in a couple weeks and is still breastfeeding and I have yet to get a period. I'm thinking of trying vitex while I also attempt to night wean to see if I can start ovulating again before then. Has anyone had vitex work for them relatively quickly? I really don't want to be stuck doing the diet forever waiting for my ovulation to return :/. Thanks!

Edit for another question. When am I supposed to take the vitex? I don't know when AF-O is because I don't have AF and I don't really get symptoms of O.

I would not take Vitex if you haven't gotten your first PP yet. It is notorious for messing with ovulation and you may not be ovulating yet. It is best to let your body do it on its own, instead of messing with supplements [emoji6]. Night weaning should help tremendously- it has with me twice now!!

I tried to tAke it with my first and second to bring on ovulation and it didn't work for either. I tried everything and even nursing 1x a day didn't bring on ovulation and AF. I had to completely wean to bring it on. My second was 21+ months and nursing 1x a day when we finally weaned. AF came 9 days after I weaned and I did ovulate that cycle.

Are you skinny? My doctor told me that if you have a low BMI while you are nursing, your fertility is delayed longer than someone who is overweight. She said that you body has to hold onto the fat reserves to breast feed and it signals your body not to be fertile. Not sure what atomic says about this but I'd love to know!

Hmm that's interesting. I am very petite with a low bmi. I hope I don't have to wait that long!

I didn't try vitex while breastfeeding but when I have used it before and it wasn't very helpful for me.

Unfortunately I had to stop breastfeeding DS1 to get my period. He was about 15 months and I ovulated 1 month after I stopped.

I was breastfeeding DS3 an wanted to TTC and had no period yet...so I took vitex and ovulated within the month!! Conceived DD1 :)

How many times a day were you still nursing when you took Vitex?
