Hi i have pcos, and without being on the pill, i have next to no periods, (only 2 in over a year, when i was trying to concieve my last DS) so i feel with that i have no idea if or when im going to ovulate:mad:, and also i see alot of people with pcos who have boys, is there any1 who can give me some hope please? or even someone with pcos who succesfull swaying pink? thank you x
:wave: Hello there, and Welcome! Take Vitex, I have heard many success stories of ladies who either had a baby and were waiting for their period, or there were ladies like yourself that hardly ever get periods.. Vitex sways girl mostly, and it also helps fight the PCOS to help you conceive!!
With me, the past few months well, have been VERY strange. I've gotten multiple OPKS in a row, one of the symptoms of PCOS, anyway.. this went on for like 3 months.. one time 8 + in a row! I heard all these wonderful ladies taking Vitex and I hopped online and started doing my research! It actually helped with regulating cycles and bringing back periods! So this is my advice to you, and the good news is.. It won't cost you a pretty penny! Vitex is priced GREAT in my opinion!!
I took it and my +OPK moved from day 23 to day 15! and I was one of the really lucky ones and conceived in one cycle! I still had 6 positive OPKs in a row this cycle but I did conceive, and even with a SUPER nurser boy!

I just want to throw in there that women have conceived boys on Vitex, nothing is a magic pill, but it's the best thing you should use for your situation!

Yes, you do have hope of getting a girl, altho I agree that many with PCOS do tend to have more boys than girls. You may also like to read this essay, it talks about changing sway diets with insulin resistance http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-...ar-issues.html Under no circumstances should you do the IGD/FGD and start drinking a lot of milk becuase milk can wreak havoc with your blood sugar levels and make them very high, which is both bad for pink and will raise your testosterone. You'd be best off doing LE Diet with focus on lower carb veg, small amounts of fruit and whole grains (no more than 2-3 servings a day) and slightly higher protein intake (50-60 g)
I think your best idea is to see your doctor and see if s/he is willing to prescribe Clomid, metformin, spirolactone to get the PCOS under control medically. If not, then you can start looking into herbs, diet, lifestyle changes (and the essay talks about this a bit more.)
Above all, if you are heavy (and even if you're not) lose some weight. Losing even jsut 5-10% of your body mass will really help get your insulin resistance under control.
Take vitex from AF - the day before O, but I think you'd be better off seeing a doctor and looking into Clomid first, before you have to resort to vitex. Clomid will sway pink and will also help you ovulate and many women with PCOS take Clomid.Quote:

Thank god youve said that, as id read on another site (ingender) to up calcium intake so had been drinking loads of milk arghhhhh!!!! i currently weigh 120lb and am 5'4 so not got the weight issue of pcos, thankfully, but can lose a few pounds happily lol!!

I took it the wrong way and I ended up bleeding from the day my home pregnancy test showed a ghostline..since I was having many +opks I didn't know when I was to ovulate!
to this day I don't know exactly what it was, but the bleeding stopped so that is good. Atomic says stop on Ovulation because Vitex is not good to take while pregnant, and she can testify that she had a tragedy occur because she didn't make sure she wasn't pregnant before taking it again.
Another very important thing is, if you are able to get on clomid do NOTHING else to sway (except maybe some preseed for lube), because with Clomid you want to get pregnant as soon as possible and swaying, especially for a girl, decreases chance for pregnancy. I got pregnant SO fast with both of my boys, but this pregnancy took almost a year to achieve!
What high hormone pill are you taking?
If she won't give you Clomid, do Vitex and don't tell her lol that will go along with your "natural attempt".
I didn't go to my doctor before trying Vitex, I was nervous and all but now I know that it was the only way that I could get pregnant before DS#2 was finished nursing!
im taking Logynon, as all the other birthcontrol pills i took before wernt working, and this one has 3 different hormones to suit each stage of your cycle, and because im getting my period in the highest hormone bit my doctor thinks the pill doesnt suit me and would be best on another contraceptive. il definatly try vitex, thanks for the warning although with my cycle i prob have no idea whne im ovulating x

Also, it's fine to get your calcium thru supps rather than diet.
Can you see another doctor? If it's taking you over a year to get pg and you have PCOS, you NEED Clomid. There's no medical reason why you shouldn't have it because it's a pretty safe drug that is the standard recommendation for PCOSers who are TTC.
Just to clarify about my tragedy, I had already suffered a miscarriage of a twin BEFORE I started the vitex. This baby had implanted directly onto my cervix and my doctor told me there is not enough blood vessels in the cervix to sustain a pg and the baby most likely could not get enough nutrients/oxygen and passed away.
I assumed the bleeding was AF (it was heavy and lasted about the same time as normal AF) and started the vitex, but it turned out I was carrying twins, only lost one, and my other baby was still with me, so I inadvertently took vitex for 2 weeks while I was pg with him.
My baby I lost was already gone when I started vitex - the vitex did not cause me to lose him/her, that happened because it was placenta previa and poorly implanted. The baby I was carrying when I took vitex is alive and well at 2 1/2 and has nothing wrong with him, but I just want people to be very careful because vitex is a great unknown for safety. always take a pg test before starting vitex.
sorry for your loss atomic. i did think she would have given me something as its in my notes of the pcos and the time i took to concieve, its not like she knows nothing about me?!? nevermind i went out and bought some vitex today so just gotta wait til AF.....could be a while lol!! Think im gonna go with the LE diet as it seems like its getting good outcomes, is there anything on there you'd avoid if you were me? thanks for taking time out to answer all my questions x
I had an accidental sway where I conceived and miscarried at 5 weeks in March. I don't know what caused the miscarriage, but I spotted for an entire week and had horrible night sweats before I miscarried so I'm guessing progesterone levels were really off.
I have two boys and I have PCOS. I am the same height and weight as you, but have a hell of a time losing weight even though I use metformin, eat low carb, and exercise regularly. If/when we sway again, I will only be using all of the supplements I take from AF to O.
Yes, you should avoid the "empty carbs" that some people eat on LE Diet to keep weight on.. Focus more on veg, fruits, small amounts of whole grain (no more than 2-3 servings per day), and you may want to increase protein up to 50-60 g. It's STILL the LE Diet though. As long as it's 1500-1800 cals a day, 40-50 g protein (and with PCOS you should go up to 50-60) and 20-30% of your day's calories from fat, it's the LE Diet. The LE Diet is not about 'forbidden' vs. 'good' foods, it's about the overall amount you're eating daily. You can eat anything you want on the LE Diet as long as you stick to those levels. Some people who don't have PCOS, lose weight very easily and NEED lots of empty carbs to keep from losing too much weight. Others, be they people with PCOS or insulin resistance or just who have a lot of weight to lose, need to focus more on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, with a little extra protein because the carbs affect their system negatively. Two different strategies but it's still LE Diet.
It's confusing at first but just keep asking about anything that you don't follow and let me clarify. There are no dumb questions, only things that I haven't explained well enough yet.
For me, in order to keep my own testosterone more in check, I have to avoid almost all carbohydrates. When I do eat carbohydrates, it is usually just one serving a day and it will be whole wheat, like a whole wheat tortilla, whole wheat pita bread, or whole wheat piece of bread.
I strictly limit my carbohydrates, minus fruit consumption. I avoid all processed/white flour carbohydrates, sugary foods, and the other stuff that's generally bad for diets, like fried foods. When I eat refined carbohydrates, my PCOS symptoms get worse. I sometimes joke that if I even look at candy, I gain 5 lbs and grow a mustache on the spot.
So for me, the LE diet is basically what I already do: avoiding carbs, but dropping most animal protein and replacing it with more vegetarian stuff, like beans and tofu. Rainbowflower actually suggest that for my version of the LE diet. :) RF and AS have been really helpful with my non-stop questions about their opinions on PCOS. I will be careful with my dairy consumption as well.
Again, it's just what I do. If you can eat more carbs without seeing an increase in PCOS stuff, then go for it, but I have to very strictly limit my carbs just because of how my testosterone levels respond to them. I'm very jealous you can lose weight! This is going to be one of the hardest parts of the LE diet for me because I have so much trouble losing weight with an already fairly strict diet.
Just to clarify, if you have PCOS or IR, you should not eat more than 2-3 servings of even whole grains. Serving sizes of grains are TINY - 1 small slice of bread, or 1/2 cup of brown rice or pasta.
hi so sorry for the late reply back, just seem to be soo busy at the min! iv jst been reading one of your threads on pcos, and reading what suppplements youve been taking, do you already have regular cycles or have the supplements regulated them? i have just got a swaying plan from AS so will be sticking to that mainly. You mentioned Tofu and beans ive never had tofu but as its a non meat protein il give it a go, i didnt think we were supposed to eat beans? Also as u seem alot more clued up on PCIS and the diet than i do, do u have any meal ideas you could share? Haha the damn pcos mousche lol, ik the same if my weight creeps up lol, but i find if im really strict and go on the rowing machine every day it does come off, although you sound like your really strict with ur diet as it is

Im skipping breakfast and waiting til at least 12pm for lunch which had been a weight watchers pitta with houmus, lettuce and slices of peeled cucumber followed by a muller light yogurt (although after reading my sway plan i shud stay away from the pita)
and dinners been a small amount of cous cous or rice with chopped tomatoes (salt/sodium only a trace) with sauteed mushroom, and courgettes (both sauteed in unsalted butter) and green beans
or pasta with phildelphia light and sauteed mushroom and courgette.
both not too bad but not that imaginative lol! i did have a bad day last week when i had a bad uti and was generally feeling sorry for myself lol, so hope i havent messed up anything iv already done!
Beans are ok in moderation - there ARE no forbidden foods on LE Diet. The prob. with beans, tofu, meat, eggs, etc is that they tend to have high protein for few calories, so many people have a hard time including them - they quickly go over their limits on protein and then have no protein left for the rest of the day, but have eaten very few calories (because even carb foods have some protein in them). It's very easy to get 40 g of protein and only have consumed 400-600 cals. That is starvation and so most people have to pick their foods more cautiously, to ensure they get both calories and protein.Quote:

With PCOS, you have 10 more grams of protein to play with (PCOS swayers should go up to 50-60 g protein in case I didn't mention it in this thread) so you have more leeway than people without PCOS to include beans, tofu, etc.

Your diet loks good but I do think you have room for more protein - maybe a scrambled egg white with dinner, or a **** of cheese, or some tofu mixed into your veggies? Remember, you don't need to starve, just be moving in the direction of less. You also probably need more potassium than you're getting, but that depends on how much veg you're eating.
In the Dream Members section, there are several threads stickied at the top of the page, that have meal suggestions, some of which would be good for PCOS!!

New here! Looking into controlling blood sugar and PCOS symptoms with supplements and avoiding Metformin. I have read here that Metformin sways pink- any experience using Berberine, N Acetylcysteine, and Insoitol to achieve the same results as Metformin and sway pink? Studies show (from PCOS DIVA) that these have been shown to achieve equal to better results for PCOS and fertility...Do they also sway like Metformin does?
Inositol has been very effective for us but I do urge you to change your diet and add in moderate exercise too if possible rather than rely on supps.

Hi, I am new here and just found this site/thread and am wondering the same thing. We have two living boys and one boy we lost at 15 weeks and another miscarriage in August at 5 weeks (obviously we didn't know what that one was). Long story short I have been diagnosed with PCOS, and my ob prescribed me metformin to help regulate my cycles, which I usually O around cd20-cd25. With all my previous pregnancies we had sex one day before O, or the day of O. In the past two years of ttc we would had sex 3-4 days before O in hopes that we would conceive a girl, but it never happened. My question is, what should I do to try and sway pink along with taking the medication? Use the paleo diet? Should I try vitex too? I'm just so overwhelmed by all the info out there! Thanks to anyone who would be able to help me :)

Do not use vitex with the metformin. Metformin is soooo much better than Vitex and I think you're going to see major improvements to your cycle just with diet changes and Met alone.
I also urge you to do exercise even if it is only moderate. Getting 60 min. 6-7 days a week is ideal but the benefits to your PCOS from even mod. exercise are so major that it will really help even if you can't get quite that much exercise.
Timing doesn't work and as you know it is really, really tough to get pg 3-4 days out. I can assure you that whatever the reason you have mostly boys it is NOT the day you had sex on. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...le-timing.html So I urge you to have one attempt (one attempt regardless of timing has really swayed for us, for reasons we can only guess at) on either O-2 or O-1 (or what most of us do, the day of first posiitive OPK, since your cycle is not regular enough to aim at a cutoff anyway) as these are good odds of conception with only one attempt. :)

Just wanted to note l had an irregular cycle due to pcos when l got my dd, at o-3. These things happen, keep the faith and baby dust to you!
