Question??? Help

Hi,
Okay so I'm on 8 dpo and once again af seems to have appeared and my question is what should i do about this short lp? I don't want to do b6 since I was using it while ttc for my son but I think I need something. I just had my iud out and I asked the doctor but my doctor claims there is no proof that progesterone medication helps and that clomid is all he has to offer. I told him I would wait out this cycle and maybe do my first attempt this month before seeking clomid. I thought my lp would improve given that this is my third cycle back from breastfeeding but every month it is eight days. What do you girls think, maybe increase the amount of vitex I'm taking ( 800 to 1200 mg), just try the b6 or just wait it out and seek the clomid if no improvement? Thanks for any and all advice!

Clomid does help lengthen a too-short LP, plus it sways pink. Personally, I would opt for the Clomid.

Can someone refresh my memory? How long does your lp have to be to sustain a pregnancy?

I think at least ten days, preferably more. To be honest I am really confused as to why my doctor claimed progesterone supps won't help.

I guess I fear clomid not only because of twins but because I had my first son from clomid( not on it for lp reasons).

I am confused by this too. I would think progesterone for sure would help, and that's the point of taking progesterone. Hmmm, I'm not why your doctor would think otherwise.

As for the Clomid, yeah there is the slightly increased risk of twins, but when you were on Clomid the first time and conceived your son, there were probably other factors that made you more boy-friendly at the time, as Clomid does tend to sway pink.

Here's another thought - have you tried taking Vitex? It sways pink, doesn't have the associated risk of twins, and sometimes does help lengthen a short LP.

Yeah I've been on vitex for over three months from af to o. I was thinking of increasing my dosage to 1200 mg but I'm not sure if this will help. I guess ill increase it for this months attempt and try the clomid for the next attempt. Thanks for taking the time to give me your advice.

Hmmm, if you've already been taking Vitex, then I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe increasing the dose, like you said, might help? I'm not sure. Whatever you chose to do, I wish you the best of luck!

My experience has been that B6 doesn't help that much, you have to be on it for months before it does anything, and it may very well sway blue.

I would DEF. go for the Clomid, I think it really sways pink and it will really help your LP. Your doctor is right, there's not consistent facts that prove prog supps even help with short LP (I think they do, but there's evidence pointing both ways)

Go ahead and give it a try, just make sure you take a preg test first even if you're 1000% sure you're not pg. Even if you have AF!!!

Some people def. have gotten boys on Clomid but the evidence indicates it does sway pink. just like how some smokers don't get lung cancer, but we all know that smoking does cause it.

No one really knows for sure and it's probable that it's different in every month for every fertilized eggo. Your lining, where the egg is fertilized, and how quickly it moves down the tube and implants, all affect odds of success. A fast moving egg fertilized a bit after O near the bottom of the Fallopian tube that has a nice lining to implant probably can make it in 7 days, whereas an egg that moves more slowly, is fertilized late, etc. may need more like 10+ days.

People have gotten pg from LPs of 7-8 days, while others with LP of 10 days have struggled. 12-14 is best, 10-12 is borderline, 7-10 is possible but not as likely.

I think your right in the fact that for some people a shorter lp might be okay. I think with my second son I had implation at 6 dpo. I can still see my chart on fertility friend from his conception, and I had spotting and a dip on 6 dpo. I than had a faint bfp on 8 dpo. I didn't test on 7 dpo but I doubt it would have shown. I think I could be one of those people that can a little bit shorter or let's hope so! I did increase the vitex and I will see what happens this month and maybe opt for clomid next month. I refuse to give in and do the b6 so clomid may be my only option. I'm Only doing one attempt this month so I'm sure I'll Get my chance to do the clomid next cycle. Also my re had given me estrace along with the clomid when I got pregnant with ds1 so that in itself probably helped sway blue along with vitamins , mucinex ect. Exactly! If you're taking estrace, that undoes the theoretical reasoning why the Clomid sways and so it would be more of a neutral situation. Toss in vitamins and Mucinex and it's really a lot closer to blue than pink! Thanks for sharing that experience!!
