Amniotic Fluid

I had my 34 week appt and u/s today. The dr said everything looks good with the baby but my amniotic fluid level was a little high. The average is 22 mine is 26. She sent me for blood work and I go for another u/s in 2 weeks but now I am worried. Does anyone have any experience with this?

oh my gosh look at those lips! What a cutie :) Im not sure about fluid, are you drinking lots of water?

I have been drinking alot lately, I have had a bunch of sonograms this pregnancy and they never said anything about the fluid level until now, it just worries me because of course I google it and read all these things.

I had the same problem with my last pregnancy , mine was measuring around 26 to 28 . I had to have C-section because baby was transverse and because of fluid level being high the baby could turn all the time. All turned out well, but Doctor said if it increased they can drain some or deliver early. I ended up in emergency c-section as labor started 3 weeks early. Good luck

Thank you, they said baby was head down right now, but of course I know that can change, they also said he is going to be about 8 1/2 to 9lbs which was what my girls were

Mine was also head down, but Doctor said too dangerous going through natural birth because baby can turn last minute because of excess fluid and then would need C-section anyway, they said mine measured big aswell , but ended up 6lbs 2 . Just keep getting checked and you will be fine. He looks beautiful , love the kissable lips mine still has them :)

I had that with DS3 (Polyhydramnios) but even when I had my last ultra sound two days before I had him, they didn't say anything about my levels. They just said he would be 9-10lbs and he was 9lbs 11oz. The Dr measured about 9lbs of my pregnancy weight was the excess fluids. My son was born healthy, he did have GERD... which wasn't diagnosed until he was 2 months old. I was so swollen 3-4 weeks pre birth and for 4weeks pp. my feet, hands everything. I was also having contractions 7-8 min apart from 35 weeks til 38 when I couldn't take it anymore. My OB said that I probably would've gone the full 40 weeks because so much fluid didn't allow him to sit on my cervix to help it dilate. Good luck, I wish u a happy and safe delivery!

I had "extra" fluid with DS, but he ended up being 3 1/2 weeks early and came out the old-fashioned way. Doctors mentioned it to me but nobody seemed especially fussed, so I never really worried about it...and GAWD that is a CUTE BABY.

My friend went through this recently and she got monitored weekly. It never changed so they said she would probably have to choose between a reduction or chancing that she might go into early labour etc. all ended up with a good amount though now that she is over 37 weeks... So it ended up being a lot of worry and fuss and ended up working itself out. So hopefully the same happens for you:)

thanks anchor, sometimes I freakin hate the internet because as soon as the dr says something I jump on the computer and google it and then I hear all these awful stories

thank you c, I go in two weeks for another sonogram so I guess I will just have to wait and see
